All good things must come to an end……
With the red carpet season drawing to a close, I thought it would be good to look back and assess the key trends and looks of the season.
The Golden Globes kicked off red carpet season yet seem like a lifetime ago already! My favourite hair was definitely Hayden Panettiere – I love the slicked back ‘wet look’ trend. It is such a strong yet completely flattering style and works well as a total look with dress and make up. We continued to see this trend continue as the season unfolded and will be a definite trend to watch out for in Spring Summer 2014.
For me, the Baftas showcased the most varied hairstyles of the season. From Emma Thompson’s quiff to the relaxed waves of Angelina Jolie, London certainly showcased the edgier hair trends. Although I may be slightly biased my favourite look of the season was Samantha Barks’ regal updo. This effortless trend has been so popular since and is a constant request in the salon.

My final favourite Red Carpet look from this season was Cate Blanchett’s glossy side part from the Oscars. This look has a modern feel with the tousled waves, but combines the classic element of a deep side part with tonnes of shine. The control and finish is perfection. Last week saw Fashion week come to an end. The number 1 show which really stood out was Chanel., the production behind the show was insane! The runway was actually turned into shopping isles with models browsing the isles and filling up their baskets and trolleys. It was so clever and a fresh fun alternative to models just pacing up and down.
I really like these modern ponytails the models where wearing. A simply pony with added in pieces of crimped hair as well as pieces of fabric for a combination of textures. It’s a great modern version of the classic pony tail.
I can’t believe how quickly the past seven weeks have gone, SO much has happened and a lot of hair has been styled all over the world for these red carpet events. I am left pondering how much product has been consumed, not to mention hairspray! With 7 blog entries complete I want to thank you all for reading and revisiting this blog. I have loved keeping an eye and reporting on all the activity from the past 2 months.
Thank you to everyone at Charles Worthington, especially Charles who has been and continues to be such an influence in my career. Having the privilege of working so closely together has benefitted not only my hair skills but has also allowed me to educate others around me.
Have a wonderful summer!
Until next time……
