A trip to Australia, belated birthday celebrations and launching a new business
I hope you’re well and getting into the festive swing of things. It’s been a mammoth month or so for me with a trip to Australia, belated birthday celebrations and launching a new business!
So my birthday is officially in October and as a little treat James and I were supposed to celebrate it together with a night away in Manchester but due to work commitments, a family holiday and poor little Freds getting sick we had to delay it until mid November. That’s not to say I didn’t celebrate on the actual day itself, I was lucky enough to be away with my lovely family in Greece and so still had an amazing time. However we thankfully still got to take the trip together and had the most wonderful time! I really love going to Manchester as it’s not too far away from where we live however still feels exciting to visit with its array of restaurants, shops and vibrant bars, it’s a great place for a quick overnight.
We stayed at the gorgeous Malmaison hotel in the heart of the city which was brilliant for its central location and has the most fabulous rooms with huge beds. I really loved that the hotel had real attention to detail as when we arrived there was a lovely birthday card and treats for me which made me feel really special. I always thinks it’s those extra touches that can make your stay more comfortable as there’s a personal element to your experience.
Although we only had 24 hours in the city we still managed to pack quite a lot in with a trip to the spa, dinner and drinks at the recently opened Menagerie restaurant and bar. My spa experience was amazing! My therapist was absolutely brilliant as she performed the Espa specific facial which is tailor-made to the client’s needs. I’m normally more of a massage girl but wanted to try something different and I can happily say the facial was just as relaxing as my normal choice of therapy especially the end section which included a blissful Indian head, neck and shoulder massage. I was so pleased with the results as my skin felt beautiful afterwards and looked really healthy, perfect for the night out ahead!
After my fabulous treatment James and I headed for dinner at Chez Mal the super stylish restaurant within the hotel and what an amazing meal we had. Starting with delicious tempura prawns and succulent scallops before moving on to the sharing steak platter, we pretty much devoured every bit of it. The steak was so tasty and twinned with hearty beer battered chips and béarnaise sauce it was the perfect choice for a cold November night. Afterwards I was far too full for an actual dessert so decided to opt for an orange creme brûlée martini which was just gorgeous, I’ve decided this is definitely the way forward with dessert, if you’re completely satiated with food opt for the liquid version for all of the gorgeous flavours without the heaviness of an extra course!
After our meal we then moved on to the newly opened Menagerie restaurant and bar for Stacey Forsey’s (Real Housewives of Cheshire) exclusive art event. Although a little late to the party we still had a brilliant time with the DJ playing some of the best mixes of 90’s house I’ve heard in a long time. The party girl in me was definitely out in full force as I danced the night away! I loved the atmosphere at Menagerie and will definitely be visiting again to sample the food there. In fact I loved all of our whirlwind Manchester stay, the staff at the Malmaison were so helpful and kind, our room was gorgeous, the food was divine, and the drinks and ambience at Menagerie were the finishing touch to my belated birthday celebrations, it was fabulous and fun!
I loved my outfit for our night which consisted of this Sequin Playsuit £55 from ASOS twinned with my ASOS sandals and Zara Tuxedo jacket.
As I mentioned at the start of this post its been a very hectic few weeks as I’ve been working heavily on my new online business The Capsule. Essentially a shopping platform come lifestyle website, it features my top picks across, fashion, beauty, homeware, childrenswear and gifts plus articles on food, travel and fashion for a bit of lifestyle inspiration. My aim is to see the website as a bit like a personal shopper as we scour the high street and online brands to bring you the best products and pieces available and put them all in one place so that you don’t have to spend hours on the internet looking for that must have item. The website features lots fashion items and if you’re a fan of the edits I put together there’s many more where you can actually shop the pieces you like. As much as it’s been challenging to get the business up and running I really love that I’m able to utilise my passion for styling, fashion and travel and create something that will hopefully grow in the future. Take a look at www.thecapsule.co.uk.
One of my favourite edits is this one titled Gold Rush! It’s my pick of the best gold inspired products that are perfect for the Christmas season!

This month I also became a patron of the Cash for Kids charity in association with Radio Aire and we launched this years’ Mission Christmas appeal. With over 60,000 children in the Yorkshire region alone living in poverty the majority of which will not receive any gifts or enjoy a Christmas dinner, Mission Christmas aims to raise funds and gifts to make sure these children also get a visit from Santa this year. As a mother myself I was shocked to learn that so many children and young people hadn’t celebrated Christmas in a number of years due to the poverty in our area, and so wanted to do my best to get involved! This situation is also not just pinpointed to Yorkshire these figures roll out across the country which is I feel is completely heartbreaking and so the appeal looks to ask shoppers to buy an extra gift this year or to donate £5 so that we can which will be then distributed throughout the region on Christmas eve to our most vulnerable. If you’d like to help in any way you can text AIRE to 70808 to donate £5, or if you live in the Yorkshire area you can visit http://www.radioaire.co.uk/charity/mission-christmas/
to buy your own gift and drop it into your local drop in point. Any help is really appreciated.
Finally I’ve just returned from an incredible trip to Australia with This Morning! We were filming a piece for the New Year and were lucky enough to visit Melbourne, Sydney and the ultra exclusive One & Only Hayman island. It was absolutely amazing so much so that I can’t squeeze it all into this post and so will do another post next week with all of the details, outfits and experiences!
And so in the meantime it’s all about Christmas as since returning from OZ this weekend we’ve put the Christmas tree up, watched back to back films including, Elf, Home Alone and Miracle on 34th Street and helped Freddie learn his lines and songs for his school nativity…I can’t believe it, how can he already be doing a school nativity!! I’m so excited though as we intend to have a lovely, family Christmas with lots of festive Merriment!!! Hope you’re feeling excited too!
P.S a MASSIVE well done to the super gorgeous Adam Thomas for doing so brilliantly in this years I’m A Celebrity!! I’m so proud of him and pleased that everyone got to see how funny and lovely he is! Xx
