The dress and shoes

The Quality Street heir chose a stunning Alice Temperley ‘Bluebell’ vintage white gown with a waterfall hemline, a train and lace detailing around the shoulders. The dress had cap sleeves and perfectly showed off her stunning slim figure.

The dress is still available to purchase from the designer’s website. It belongs to the Florence bridal collection.

The Temperley Bridal Florence 2013 Collection contains a wide variety of fantasy dresses in silhouettes that celebrate the female form, resulting in a collection of dresses memories are made in. Each piece conveys an elegance and sophistication, all with the same timeless, feminine and ethereal nature that is the Temperley handwriting. Ranging from classic Grace Kelly inspired styles to more decadent 50’s Hollywood shapes; the collection is largely inspired by film noir screen sirens. The prices range from £2,950 to £4,200.

The star completed the look with sky-high Christian Louboutin peep-toe shoes in White, which retail at £625.

Millie kept her make-up natural. She didn’t go for heavy eyeliner, and kept her look “fresh and young”, like she had previously revealed.

Bouquet

White, cream and pink flowers made up the bride’s bouquet, which perfectly matched her floral headpiece.

Royal Weddings: Princess Madeleine of Sweden

It has been nearly three months since Princess Madeleine of Sweden married her financier boyfriend Chris O’Neill and in the week that the couple announce they are expecting their first child together, we take a look back at the bride’s look.

The dress

Madeleine managed to keep the designer a secret until the very same day she married and it was none other than Valentino Garavani.

The stunning gown was fashioned from pleated silk organza with appliquéd ivory-hued Chantilly lace. The upper section of the bodice was lace with a deep-cut back. Narrow vertical pleats opened up from the accentuated waist, above the wide skirt, which ends with a four-metre-long train.

The princess’s incredible veil, also made from silk organza, trailed almost five metres long and it was also edged with tulle scatted with point d’esprit dots and small Chantilly lace orange blossom.

The shoes

The bride wore shoes in ivory white organdie with woven point d’esprit dots and her tiara, which is privately owned, was decorated with sprigs of orange blossom.

The bouquet

The bridal bouquet that Madeleine carried consisted of classic white garden roses: Austin roses, Schneewittchen, Winchester Cathedral and Alabaster, as well as lilies of the valley and the traditional myrtle from Sofiero. All the flowers were white, and the bouquet was tied into a round shape.

 Hair and make-up

Madeleine wore her hair swept back from her face in a simple elegant chignon. The low bun was held in place by her royal tiara, which was decorated with a delicate garland of fresh orange blossoms.

Her make-up was flawless, a natural complexion appeared to have been achieved through pared-down foundation and bronzer, while several layers of mascara framed her eyes. For her lips, she chose a dark pink lipstick.

Jewels

The modern fringe tiara was the chosen by the bride. It is dotted on the top with round diamonds and sits on a base accented with a line of diamonds. Like many fringe tiaras, it can be removed from its frame and used as a necklace.  To her diamond tiara, Madeleine added large diamond drop earrings from the Bernadotte collection and a diamond bracelet.

Celebrity inspired braided bridal hair

On your wedding day you must wear a hairstyle with which you feel comfortable. If you usually wear your hair down and you choose an up’do for your big day, you may not feel like yourself.

You should try out different styles until you find the perfect one. If you love braids and wear them ocassionally,  maybe it’s a good option for your big day. They don’t go out of style and there are many different types to choose from. You could go for a fishtail, Dutch or French braid. Depending on your choice of dress, the braid could be perfectly polished and neat, or loose and messy.

In Ireland, it is actually a tradition for the bride to braid her hair for her wedding day. Braided hair is an ancient symbol of feminine power and luck.

Celebrities have already taken this hot trend to the red carpet throughout this last year - Charlize Theron chose a beautiful braided chignon for the Critics’ Choice Awards back in January. Charlize’s stylist, Enzo Angileri, said at the time he was inspired by the beauty of Spanish Flamenco dancers when creating her look. I love it!

Blake Lively is often spotted with this style. For the premiere of her film Green Latern, she chose a messy fishtail braid. Blake’s hairstylist, Rod Ortega, confessed he had created beachy waves that were tossed back into a tousled ponytail and a trio of fishtailed braids. A gold and diamond floral hair accessory topped off the hairstyle for a truly cool/vintage look.

But braids can be worn in so many other ways. Sienna Miller went for a braided crown, looking every inch the Greek goddess, for the Golden Globe Awards. Jessica Alba, on the other hand, opted for two wrapped braids,  creating a more elegant Grecian style hair band. The ‘do has even been favoured by royals, Kate Middleton wore a lovely and chic braided bun for an Olympic-themed concert at the Royal Hall in London.

What do you think of these styles? Which one is your favourite? Will you be wearing braids on your wedding day?

Celebrity inspired floral bridal crowns

Forget tiaras and the traditional veil, this year is the year of floral bridal crowns. Until now, the beautiful accessory was most popular in vintage or bohemian weddings, but now traditional brides are choosing the floral headdress over other usual headpieces.

Celebrities such as Margherita Missoni, Peaches Geldof and Kate Moss have been the latest brides to make this trend a part of their big day.

To complement her amazing custom-made Alberta Ferretti wedding dress, Peaches chose a simple and elegant wreath of daisies. Margherita, on the other hand, had her three bridesmaids, Tatiana Santo Domingo, Eugenie Niarchos and her sister Teresa, wear daisy headdresses for her gypsy-inspired nuptials, as did Kate’s 15 bridesmaids for the country affair.

Traditionally it was only the bride’s flower girls who wore the crowns, but now everyone has taken a like to them, including A-listers for their red carpet appearances. Even designers such as Dolce & Gabbana have included them onto their latest catwalk shows.

The wonderfully colourful garlands are suitable for all seasonal weddings, whether it’s a summer or winter one. All you need to do is make your crown with the flowers in season. You can even match the wreath to your wedding colour scheme!

But there is one thing I love the most about these romantic headdresses, the fact that they can be made from real flowers, as seen in the picture above, dried flowers or silk flowers!

Actresses Anne Hathaway and Kirsten Dunst have gone one step further. Newlywed Anne was spotted months back wearing a floral headpiece made of crystals whilst Kirsten went for a special designer Dolce & Gabbana floral headband.

So out of all these, what headdress do you like most? Would you wear one on your wedding day or opt for the traditional tiara and veil?

Celeb inspired updo’s

There are hundreds of hairstyles to consider for your big day, and out of all of them, updo’s are always a favourite, especially if you are considering wearing a halter neckline wedding dress.

With so many award shows, like the Oscarsand premieres this year, celebs have showcased various styles, from low buns, high buns and romantic chignons to the classic French twist.

I’ve put together collection of some of the best that I think make perfect styles for wedding hair

The Romantic Chignon

Elegant and classic, the wavy chignon look will make any bride look and feel like an old Hollywood screen siren.
It is created thanks to some glamorous 1940s-inspired waves, a sexy parting and sections loosely pulled up at the back like shown in the pictures below.

A French Twist

The French twist is the most common of updo’s and it never seems to fall out of style with the A-Listers.
It is easily created, all you need to do is gather your hair in a low ponytail and twist it upwards until it turns in on itself against the head. To finish it off, just secure the hair with pins.

Sleek Buns

Uber-glam, clean and sophisticated is what makes the bun a red carpet favourite. For this year’s Met Gala, actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore a sleek bun piled high on top of her head. A super-sleek do, it adds heights, glamour and a large dose of va-va-voom volume.

Remember that a sparkling hair piece will add a touch of glamour, keep an eye out for my post on bridal hair pieces as well as some more hairstyles…
