Weddings have always been a great reason for a party, and the party you throw on the most exciting day of your life should be one to remember. You will have spent hours, days, weeks looking round possible party venues and when you’ve found the place for you, you need to work out how to go about creating the theme you want for your special day.
Having a themed wedding is increasingly popular – from very traditional to themes based on fantasy and fiction like Alice in Wonderland, or Star Wars.
Here’s some suggestions of fun themes and how you can create them from riolounge.co.uk.
If you’re a party animal and a fan of holidays to Ibiza, you might want to create a fun club theme. For indoors, you can hire funky furniture in bright colours, and mirrored-tables to reflect the numerous coloured lights. A chill-out zone with light coloured sofas, leather cube seats, and soothing lamps is essential, as is the celebrity DJ! Finish off with a cocktail bar, and party hard into the early hours.
For laid-back family fun, try a traditional seaside theme. Create a sand play area for the children with brightly coloured buckets and spades. Hire a Punch and Judy show and entertainer. Decorate the room with pebbles and shells, and string up some seagull decorations. Don’t forget your stripy deckchairs, beach loungers, and parasols! Buckets filled with sticks of rock make for great table centre pieces. This theme works very well indoors in the cooler months.
Royal Garden Party
For summer weddings, garden parties are ideal. You will need lots of tables and chairs for people to sit and chat graciously, and a gazebo from which to serve the canapés and champagne. White always works well in the summer. Use bunting to match your colour theme to decorate the garden, and provide lawn games like croquet or garden quoits. Hire patio burners and lights for when the night draws in, and extra-large buckets to keep your champagne cool in the summer sunshine.
Whether you have children attending your wedding or not, fairground themes are very popular. This theme demands bright colours. Once you’ve hired your carousel and dodgem cars, you’ll need lots of bright chairs and tables. Centrepieces can be made from coconuts, candy-floss and rubber ducks. A big-top style marquee is much better than traditional white, and an ice-cream stand will be appreciated by guests of all ages.
Create an A-List event with a movie star theme. Black and white is a classy choice for your tables, chairs, and sofas. Black director chairs add a dash of Hollywood, and spotlights make everyone feel like a star. A red carpet through the entrance and a photo booth with film props add to the fun. Hang mirrors with elaborate frames in gold or black, and make Hollywood stars for the tables instead of name-cards.
Whatever your theme, all you need is a bit of imagination and some creative resourcing. If you haven’t got it, hire it, and make your day everything you ever wished for.
