A closer look at Zoe Saldana’s engagement ring

Zoe Saldana finally showed off her engagement ring this week, five months after tying the knot to boyfriend Marco Perego.

The star never announced her engagement and her big day was a very intimate affair, but she finally wore her emerald pear-shaped engagement ring to an event! And I love it!

It is thought that the stunning sparkler is worth between $18,000 to $32,000 and that, like Halle Berry’s emerald, it comes from the Muzo mine in Colombia.

Zoe is not the only star who has chosen an emerald engagement ring. Halle Berry and Jackie Kennedy both chose stunning emerald sparklers.

Halle’s ring was created especially for Halle by Parisian designer Robert Mazlo, who has known Olivier Martinez for several years.

The exquisite ring features a four-carat emerald at its centre that is “perfect” in colour and which was sourced from “closed-down mines in Muzo, Colombia”.  It also incorporates two diamonds set in a hand-forged, textured yellow-gold band.

The Van Cleef & Arpels engagement ring John F. Kennedy gave Jackie consisted of one 2.88 carat diamond mounted next to a 2.84 carat cut emerald with tapered baguettes. In 1962, the ring was reset to include 0.66 total carat weight of round diamonds and 1.46 total carat weight of marquise diamonds. This ring resulted in a huge surge in emeralds sold as engagement rings during the 1950’s.

Which of the three do you like best? Do you like coloured rings?

  1. Of all the coloured gemstones, Emeralds are the best in my opinion, such a magical glow to them! I was so tempted to have a Columbian Emerald as my engagement ring. Love Zoe’s!
