Royal Weddings: Princess Claire of Luxembourg

Prince Felix and Princess Claire of Luxembourg finally tied the knot in France on Saturday. The couple married in a beautiful religious ceremony in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume’s magnificent 13th century Sainte Marie-Madeleine basilica.

Princess Claire did not dissapoint and looked stunning an Elie Saab wedding dress, the family’s favourite designer.

Here we take a close look at her bridal look. Let me know what you think!

The dress

Elie Saab created Claire’s stunning  long-sleeved wedding gown. The creme-coloured silk dress was embroidered with floral motifs made out of chantilly lace as well as silver thread. It also featured embellishments of clear crystals and sequinned pearls.

The three metre long veil was made of ivory silk tulle and decorated with neo baroque floral motifs.

The jewels

Claire wore a floral tiara that belongs to the Grand Ducal Collection, made out of diamonds set in yellow gold and silver, featuring a leaves and berries motif. It has a tradition as a wedding tiara and Claire is already the fifth bride to wear it.

She completed the look with diamond drop down earrings, also worn by her sister-in-law Princess Stephanie on her wedding day last year.

The hair and make-up

For her special day, the royal bride chose to wear her hair in a neat and elegant up’do and kept her make-up minimal, opting for mascara and a splash of soft pink lipstick.

The shoes

When the bride stepped out of the Rolls Royce Phantom that drove her to the church, we got a glimpse of the bride’s shoes. Claire opted for a rounded toe, ankle strap white shoe with medium heels.

The bouquet

The stunning, yet simple, bouquet was made up of white freesias

The wedding rings

Like Princess Stephanie and Prince Guillaume did, the couple chose to have their wedding rings made of fair-trade gold to raise awareness on the importance of ethical trade.

Similarities to Princess Stephanie’s dress

Seeing the two brides, we think the Elie Saab wedding dresses are very similar. What do you think?

  1. I think princess Claire’s dress is absolutely stunning . I showed it to my daughter and said it was possibly the most beautiful wedding gown I’d ever seen. I agree there are similar elements to Princess Stephanie’s dress but what I love about Claire’s dress is the gorgeous lace pattern that runs through the gown while still looking so light and fairylike. I also love the delicate wrist and neckline detailing that carries down to the hem .

  2. I´m agree both dresses are similar, but I think Prince Claire looks better, I don´t know if it is style. Also I think everything she wore help her to be simple but beautiful

  3. Makeup Artist Lisa Eldridge did Princess Claire’s wedding day look, she looked stunning.

  4. I agree totally with Carla about Claire´s gown, the lace and the skirt part is more beautiful than Stepnanie´s one. And also the hair updo, the veil and tiara combination are far better, more romantic, I mean.

  5. hmm I prefer Princess Stephanie’s dress to Princess Claire’s – the bottom hem of Princess Claire’s dress looks unfinished somehow – I think because the lace stops a couple of inches above the hem.

I like the makeup but unfortunately the foundation looks a shade too light – her face is a different colour compare to her neck.
