Christmas time: Karaoke with my best friends & Strictly Final

Are you hanging up your stocking on the wall ?

It’s the time that every Santa has a ball!

Yes it’s nearly here!!! Chrisssssstmasssss!!!!

And I’m so happy! It’s so nice to be able to spend such quality time with all my loved ones this year! I have a couple of weeks off work and I intend to relax, eat, watch lots of good films and just generally appreciate the time with my friends and family ❤️

Firstly I want to start by saying yet again how proud I am of Mark and all he achieved on Strictly. Coming a respected 4th place is more than he had anticipated when he agreed to do the show and he’s loved taking part, training with Karen and meeting all the other great people on the show… Although Mark didn’t lift the glitter ball trophy (P.S.- well done Caroline!) – he’s a winner in my eyes !

I went down to support him with my mum Jackie on Saturday night (my shirt was Reiss and skirt Zara)

Here we are having a drink after the show finished – with Carol, Jessica, Frankie and Wayne.

Now that the series has ended Mark and I have got the small matter of a certain wedding to get organised! We have a lot to get sorted so we are going to sit down with our wedding planner in the next week or so and have a big ol catch up.

Also this week I was up in Manchester and went for dinner with my friend for her birthday, in one of my favourite places Australasia. The food is delicious especially the sushi – if you go – try the prawn avocado and goats cheese sushi – or the smoked duck roll. FIT!!!!!

My first Spring phase for Lipsy also launched this week. Have you seen the pictures? My favourite pieces are this pretty white body con/lace dress and this light pink leather bomber jacket.

Untitled-5Untitled-4 for the full range.

While Mark was in Essex having a boys night out I went up to Manchester for my much loved annual girls night. All my best girlfriends (from school) get together and have a slap up traditional meal (look at this plate full!)

We drink a teeny bit of bubbly ( okkkkkk … maybe a *bit* more that a teeny bit pahahahaha) play games, do a secret Santa and have a good old girly catch up. This year it was the turn of Liz to host the knees up.

She served up a delicious meal which we all enjoyed very much , and then after dinner we hit the karaoke! It was soooo funny. I sung my party piece (which by the way , is Cher – Turn Back Time!)

Thanks Liz for being the hostess with the mostess!

I’ve been pretty organised with the ol Christmas shopping this year so any last minute shopping has been just for lil ol me! I bought some of my favourite Sandy Bay candles online for my home in Essex – at … the new Mimosa Valoey fragrance is amazing – very fruity and fresh.

I don’t have any hair extensions in at the moment because I want to give my hair a break, but I need some clip ins for shoots and nights out, so I got some great quality ones from

And during a recent shopping trip this week I spotted these cool rings from Aldo (I love stacking and midi rings)

I also picked up this fluffy handbag from Zara which I lurvvvvvve and have had a lot of compliments on.

Zara has some gorgeous snuggly ponchos and coats in at the moment. Look at these! Fingers crossed they go in the sale too…

Anyway, I need to sign off. I have some mulled wine calling my name and some last minute presents to wrap.

I hope you all have a wonderful and peaceful Christmas.

All my love to you all :-)

Making a house a home, cheeky night in London, and top tips for healthy hair

This week has been a mixture of filming up in Manchester and getting my home all nice and organised in Essex.

We are so settled in our new home, it’s like a real sanctuary now, and I have to thank Laura and Sarah who run an interior design/furniture shop business in Essex called ‘Stripes of Essex’.

They are sisters and have a sharp eye for detail, and have helped make the house into a home :-) can’t recommend them enough – thank you talented ladies!! To contact them please tweet @stripesofessex or here’s the website

Here are some pictures:

In other news, I’ve finally taken out the hair extensions I had in over the summer, and it feels goooooood!

Instead for volume and thickness, I just pop in some Beauty Works clip in’s ( ) and they do the trick. They do them in lots of different lengths and colours and the quality of hair is very good.

It’s so important to look after your hair , and keep it in tip top condition. This week I asked one of my favourite hairdressers Reuben Wood, what his expert tips are on keeping your tresses shiny and lush :-)

Reuben said :
1 Try not to wash your hair every day, as this can strip your hair of natural oils!
When you wash your hair try using silicon free shampoo, massage you scalp, as this increases circulation and prevents dandruff. Repeat and rinse. Then use a good conditioner using stroking motions and try to avoid the roots, just mid length to ends! (For a bouncy blow dry) and try using the coolest temp, so that you don’t overheat your hair .

2 Avoid combing your hair when wet, as the hair is stretchy and can snap.

3 Always good to use a soft bristle brush, as this also helps spread natural oils through the hair!

4 When blow drying point the dryer down the shaft of the hair to smooth the cuticle, avoid pointing the hair dryer to the scalp.

5 Once a week use a good treatment (such as Kerastase Masquintense ) have a glass of wine and chill for a hour!!!!!

Pahaahaha, not sure what relevance the glass of wine has in keeping your hair in good condition, but who cares!

I’ve been continuing on my healthy (ish) eating mission with my SoulMate food plan

As I said the other week, I’m not on a ‘diet‘ (I have spotted a couple of magazines suggesting this, and it’s not true). I have no desire to loose weight, healthy eating is just that- eating balanced and nutritious meals. I’m having three meals and three snacks a day!!!

I’m still enjoying Bootea too and have these tasty herbal teas instead of coffee, because they are much healthier.

Bootea teatox is from or Holland and Barrett nationwide.

Speaking of food, I went to London end of the week to see Mark , he was on ‘it takes two’ (here’s some sneaky lil piccies backstage).

Then we went to the INCREDIBLE Sushi Samba. It’s a mixture of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian food.

Wow this was food heaven!! We had steak cooked on stones, delicious sushi and these ice cream parcel cake things (can’t remember what they were called) …. here’s me – wearing my new gorgeous faux fur pink #lipsylovemichelle coat, top is Zara and skirt Topshop. Gorgeous night!

My Winter collection for Lipsy London went on sale nationwide this week. Hurray!!! to check it out. Here’s some of my favourite pieces …tweet me @michkeegan and let me know which ones are your faves!

Until next week

My wedding worry and Mark Wright to the rescue

This week I have mostly been…… nursing my very sad and sore finger!

On Tuesday I accidentally shut my finger in a door and my nail has actually ripped off. It was SO painful I nearly fainted with the pain! It all happened so quickly and there was a fair bit of blood but Mark was able to patch me up a bit and stop the bleeding. Two days on and it is still making me wince with pain if someone brushes even just brushes my hand. It is also the middle my ring hand, so I’m hoping my nail will grow back in time for the wedding. Major major ouch!

I’m not going to post a pic of it (because it’s rank!!!) but here is my plastered up finger…

Before #nailgate I was in Spain (again!) on a personal appearance and and took my cousin Kate and one of my bestest pals Rachel. We had a great time. During the Saturday afternoon we were chilling out by the hotel pool and having a girly gossip when I looked up and Mark was stood there!

He had told me he was playing golf with the boys so I had a lovely surprise when he and his pal were right in front of me! We all went on to have a fab night in Magaluf.

I made sure I sprayed my hair with loads of this stuff – Mark Hill Work it Girl and Kevin Murphy Staying Alive leave in conditioner to stop the sun from drying it out.

Here’s me and the girls on our Saturday night out and one of me getting ready for dinner – my top is from Mango and the pants are from TopShop - love them – they are great for warm nights out on your holidays.

When I got back on Monday I spent time with my mummy and then went home to unpack and then re pack as it was straight off to London on the Tuesday for auditions and meetings (and to trap my finger in a door but I didn’t know that yet!) …

Look at Phoebe my sausage doggy, she’s so not wanting me to leave for London is she? I think she’s thinking “she won’t notice me in here!”

Mark and I went it the ITV summer party at Westminster Abbey on Wednesday which was really lovely especially because I bumped into Helen Worth. She was such a mentor to me when I started on Corrie, my pretty summer dress is from Zara.

On Wednesday, the following morning (with my finger still throbbing) I went with Mark to This Morning as he was presenting on The Hub (here’s a cheeky selfie on set!).

Then I had a fab lunch meeting at The Ivy following by another at The Sanderson look at the afternoon tea I had – it has a Alice in Wonderland theme – so cute!…

The rest of the week will be spent doing fittings and interviews for my Lipsy collection – it launches next Thursday by the way – so exciting!

Bear Grylls rumours and returning from sunny Spain

Hasn’t it been good weather in England the past couple of days?! So nice to get back from Spain and enjoy the sunshine in Blighty too!

So picking up from last week, a little bit more about my stay in this amazzzzzzing villa.

Amazing villa

View from the lounge

The website address is and I found the Cool Rental Guide via a recommendation from a mate It’s great for finding unusual and luxurious properties to rent for a holiday.

Resting in the sun

Resting in the sun

The villa is in the pretty town of Pollensa around 40/50 mins from Palma airport on the land of a private golf course. It is 6 bed, modern Villa with two lounges a huge kitchen, the master bedroom had a steam room and double baths in it which was amazing and the villa even had a lift to get up and down all the floors!

The villa

Beautiful pool

There was outside dining for 16 (there was only 7 of us so loads of space!) and a gorgeous deep green tiled pool with huge Buddha figures decorating it. When I wasn’t shooting the calendar with the team I relaxed on the sun loungers, ate lots of yummy Spanish food, hung out with my mum, who came over for a few days, and just generally chilled out! It was bliss.

I love staying in villas, as it’s a home away from home and you can have all your nearest and dearest with you all under one roof!

On the weekend Mark had a PA nearby so we left the villa on the Saturday afternoon (sob!) and then after the PA we flew back to London.

On the way back on the flight I started learning my lines for an audition I had this week for a really good part. I can’t say what it was for – only that it was for a TV drama, but I am keeping everything crossed!

Speaking of work, I read on Twitter this week that apparently I’m signed up to do a new Bear Grylls series?! Sounds like a great show but it’s news to me!!! I’m deffo not doing it, but good luck to the brave bods that are.

I also keep reading rumours that I’m doing Strictly? I love the show, it’s got such a feel good factor to it, and it would be great to learn to dance properly one day, but I’m not doing it , sorry! I’m going to concentrate on my acting for now.

Me with Phoebe and Pip

Me with Phoebe and Pip

I didn’t end up going to Ascot because it clashed with my audition but didn’t everyone look fabulous? I love the big dramatic hats but I don’t think I would have had the guts to wear one, I would go for something a little more refined I think!

When I got back to Manchester I couldn’t wait to pick up the dogs from my mum’s and get home. I’ve missed them so much!! We went for a long walk in a park near mine. Here are my babies:

My babies

She knows how cool she looks

After the mountain of washing I had to do I sorted through my make-up bag because some of the products were a bit worn and past their use by date. I didn’t know this until a year ago but make-up has a shelf life and you should (for example) change your mascara every 6 months!

Georgio Armani foundation

Georgio Armani foundation

I had treated myself to some new Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation, MAC Blot Powder Medium for anti-shine at Duty Free, and also these beauties were waiting for me from Benefit when I got home! Perfect for dark circles, covering spots and evening out skin tone…

Benefit cosmetics

Treats from Benefit (thank you)

My retail therapy has been a bit sparse the last couple of weeks with me being away but I did go to Zara for a last minute shop (how great are all the stores in Gatwick airport?!) here’s my new leather jacket. Not exactly summery but I think it will last me for agessss! I’m well pleased with it because this kind of jacket is a classic piece and it was only £52 – BARGAIN!

Zara jacket

I’m away again this weekend for another PA, and am going to start thinking about sorting through my home in Manchester when I get back, as I think I will (finally) be moving to down to Essex soon! I have SO much stuff to sort through, I genuinely don’t know where to start! Anyone got any good advice on packing/moving home? Tweet me at @michkeegan.

Until next week,

Lots of love

Auditions and my new hair!

Auditions Auditions Auditions!

It’s been another busy week for me going up and down the country for auditions and meetings, which by the way I am loving! I had a recall for one which I didn’t expect at all, when I walked into the room all the girls looked the same with long dark hair and olive skin, I haven’t ever really experienced castings before as Corrie was my second ever audition, so it’s going to take a while to get used to, but it’s all good and some of the scripts I have been reading are excellent.

Alsoooo, I can’t say exactly what – but I have a big announcement on May 14th, and it’s something I am really excited about and have been bursting to tell people for ages! Will reveal all soon!

Aside from meetings etc. I have been spending time in Essex with Mark and our friends. We went for dinner one night to Alec’s Fish Restaurant which was delicious – here’s my outfit:

The bag is Zara, skirt (I can’t actually remember) I think it is Mango?, top is Lipsy, shoes are Office and the statement necklace is Zara.

I think the necklace finishes the outfit off – here’s some other necklaces I have my eye on at the mo:

These are from the first is garnets and a black pearl, and the second is a simple big pearl on a pendant.

I love this one from Zara and this one is Johnny loves Rosie from ASOS and this one is really something from Stella and Dot!

I have also got my nails done in this really lovely coral colour, and my new ‘M’ ring is from Rock and Rose – I love it so much I got it in gold too!

My hair was long overdue a good trim so I took my mummy into my favourite Manchester hair salon for some much needed trimmage. I was thinking about having something a bit more drastic and getting my hair into a bob or something but I know I would regret it afterwards! Here’s me in the salon:

I also tried out my new make-up purchases that night and I have to say I am pretty impressed – the Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette is a must have for your clutch bag (as you can see mine didn’t carry much) as it’s a natural blusher, subtle highlighter and golden bronzer in one. The colours really suit my skin tone and I didn’t need to put a lot on to get a healthy glow. The highlighter is best for under the arch on your eyebrows, the line across the top of your cheeks, your temples and a bit on your chin.michelleblogpalette

Loads of people have tweeted me asking where my new sunglasses are from – they are Michael Kors and I have been wearing them all the time (not indoors though, that’s just plain wrong!)

Elsewhere I’m on the hunt for the perfect red carpet bag and shoes, because I am going to the BAFTA Awards on May 18th as a guest of one of the partners – St Tropez … I have already chosen my dress which is VERY rare for me as I tend to leave things very last minute, but need the accessories and jewellery to match. I’m on the hunt next week so will report back on goodies I find.

Also next week I am on Lorraine on Tuesday morning to launch the High Street Fashion Awards (make sure you tune in!) and will be doing a live link from Manchester on the Thursday too.

After I am on Lorraine on Tuesday I am straight off to Wiltshire where I am meeting some very inspirational soldiers who are residents of the fantastic Help for Heroes recovery centre – Tedworth House.

The House provides support to serving and veteran members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded, injured or become sick and has state of the art facilities to help nurse the soldiers and ex soldiers who are recovering there.

I’ve been really looking forward to this visit for some time, and will be working with Help For Heroes to help raise vital funds for them later in the year.

Speaking of charities – another one that I support is the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and my friend and ex Coronation Street co-star Catherine Tyldesley is going to be doing getting into Salford Quays and swimming in the OPEN WATER (eeek Cath! It will be soooo coldddd!), to raise money for this vital local cause as part of the Great Swim Series 2014 .To sponsor Cath please go to

I also want to thank everyone again who voted for me for the FHM #100sexiest poll. I was totally shocked when I got the call to say I had won, I honestly couldn’t believe it.. I really do think that being sexy is about smiling, being confident and comfortable in your own skin. You don’t need to put on lots of make-up or wear next to nothing to be sexy.

Here’s to an exciting week ahead!

Lots of love

My Corrie stunt double and my exciting secret project

Hi everyone!

This week has been a busy one so far… it’s my final fortnight on Corrie now and I spent all last week doing night scenes, most of which were outside and it was verrrrrrry collllld. I can’t give anything away that will spoil the story of  Tina’s final weeks on the cobbles, but I did have my own stunt woman!

Michelle with her stunt double, Tracey

Michelle with her stunt double, Tracey

Also I hope you are all voting for your favourites in the British Soap Awards 2014. Everyone keeps asking me if I think I will win Sexiest Female again, to be honest I am amazed I won it once, however my vote this year goes to my very sexy co-star – Catherine Tyldesley. She is such a warm funny and uber gorgeous woman, with the most amazing curves!

Last weekend I went to London to film for a secret project. I can’t tell you what it is just yet but it’s going to be announced in early May. It’s very exciting and to do with TV and  fashion. Here is a sneaky peek from the studio. My eye catching dress was from Zara :-).

I also managed to get in a bit of clothes and beauty shopping during a gap in filming and was well chuffed to find these fab trousers. They are by NORR which is a new Danish brand – you can buy it  in House of Fraser,

My shoes are Office and my top is Miss Selfridge.  Yellow is such a happy colour, it always makes me think of Summer. It’s not long now girls!

Speaking of Summer, it’s about time I bought my new annual pair of sunglasses. I do it once a year, usually when I am bored in Duty Free waiting to board a plane (it’s fun trying on all the pairs of glasses, plus they are a lot cheaper there than in the shops!). I’m hoping to get in a short break in the sunshine after I finish filming on Corrie. I love Ray bans usually,  but I have my eyes on these by Dior. They are called Piccadilly 2 in Light Gold. Gorgeous! Bit expensive at £230 but if they are in Duty Free then they will be a fair bit cheaper.

If you are on the hunt for a pair that are a bit more affordable then these are really nice from Lipsy, I love the bows on the sides, (Sun 30C2 Bronze) and these are about £35. Bargain!

I also stocked up on some of my favourite Origins Dr Andrew Weil Skin Tone Correcting Serum and the Illuminating lotion too which are one of my all time beauty favourite product ranges. I love it because it feels lovely and light on my skin, isn’t greasy at all, and gives a really luminous glow.

After my shopping spree, I went to try out a treatment with a lovely beauty therapist – Lisa Kempley, called LVL lashes. It stands for Length Volume and Lift and  it straightens your lashes rather than curls them, to create the illusion of longer, thicker lashes. The treatment takes between 30 and 45 minutes and lasts up to 6 weeks depending what condition yours are in.  These are great for a treat, holiday or a special occasion!

This weekend I’m off to London for a photoshoot which I am really looking forward to (might be able to sneak a couple of behind the scenes pics from this one!) and then next week is my last week filming on Corrie. Can’t quite believe it!

Lots of love

My unusual photoshoot and my latest buys

Hi everyone!

Sooo! This is my first blog for HELLO! Online! I’m really excited to be joining the HELLO! team, here is what’s been going on in my life this week:

I’m on a bit of a health kick following my holiday to Dubai, and have been trying to get to the gym around 4 times a week. Sometimes I don’t get there till after I finish work which can be after 8pm and I always try and think of excuses not to go, but once I’ve trained for 45mins to 1hr I feel loads better… I just stick my headphones on, get the tunes going on and do a mixture of weights and cardio. I don’t have a personal trainer, I take health and nutrition advice off people and just train myself!

Last weekend I went on a shoot with a bit of a difference and I wanted to share this with my readers!

A creative team I work with and I went up to a farm in the Peak District to do a fashion shoot involving animals, with some of the shots carrying an Easter and Spring theme. I didn’t realise how high up the Peak District was and over the course of just one day we had rain, hail, wind and sun, the weather was so unpredictable and quite random. I’m not going to lie, it was pretty cold! Just look at this pic of how covered up the crew were!

Me with a baby chick!

Me with a baby chick!

The shoot concept sounded really cute with bunnies, lambs and chicks, but it wasn’t as easy as it sounds! I soon learnt that they have a habit of not keeping still, wandering off, pecking you and doing things that you erm, don’t quite expect! (or want on a photoshoot!) Needless to say, the pictures were a lot of fun. Here’s some snaps from the day.

I always pick up great tips from shoots and will be sharing them with you – I absolutely love this Urban Decay naked 2 palette for my eyes.

Benefit Primer ‘Porefessional’ which keeps make up set all day (great for nights out and red carpet too!) and Shu Uemera lashes which look so natural and full on camera.

For my hair we used the Kevin Murphy range which I love because its paraben free so it’s good for your hair and for the environment, and as my hair is so fine my hairdresser Reuben used thick dark brown clip in Beauty Work extensions for added length and oomph!

I went through the shots last night and it’s looking good!

I also managed to get down to the Trafford Centre this week at had a bit of a shop. I spied these shoes from Office which I love, so got them in both colours (woops!)

However I was on the lookout for a high street version of this gorgeous Victoria Beckham white blazer:

And hurray! I found a similar one in Zara. This jacket looks really effortless and stylish with dark blue jeans or jeggings and a sexy heel. I would team it with the new YSL brown clutch bag, which I am saving up for. It’s GORGEOUS!

I’m going to be going to quite a few castings and business meetings when I leave Corrie next month so an outfit like this is perfect, and the jacket is great for a night time look with leather trousers.

Next week I will tell you all about what I did on Mother’s day for my mum Jackie, and I’m going to have a bit of a pamper night in to try out some overnight beauty masks and body scrubs so I will report back on the ones I like :-)

Lots of love
