Auditions and my new hair!

Auditions Auditions Auditions!

It’s been another busy week for me going up and down the country for auditions and meetings, which by the way I am loving! I had a recall for one which I didn’t expect at all, when I walked into the room all the girls looked the same with long dark hair and olive skin, I haven’t ever really experienced castings before as Corrie was my second ever audition, so it’s going to take a while to get used to, but it’s all good and some of the scripts I have been reading are excellent.

Alsoooo, I can’t say exactly what – but I have a big announcement on May 14th, and it’s something I am really excited about and have been bursting to tell people for ages! Will reveal all soon!

Aside from meetings etc. I have been spending time in Essex with Mark and our friends. We went for dinner one night to Alec’s Fish Restaurant which was delicious – here’s my outfit:

The bag is Zara, skirt (I can’t actually remember) I think it is Mango?, top is Lipsy, shoes are Office and the statement necklace is Zara.

I think the necklace finishes the outfit off – here’s some other necklaces I have my eye on at the mo:

These are from the first is garnets and a black pearl, and the second is a simple big pearl on a pendant.

I love this one from Zara and this one is Johnny loves Rosie from ASOS and this one is really something from Stella and Dot!

I have also got my nails done in this really lovely coral colour, and my new ‘M’ ring is from Rock and Rose – I love it so much I got it in gold too!

My hair was long overdue a good trim so I took my mummy into my favourite Manchester hair salon for some much needed trimmage. I was thinking about having something a bit more drastic and getting my hair into a bob or something but I know I would regret it afterwards! Here’s me in the salon:

I also tried out my new make-up purchases that night and I have to say I am pretty impressed – the Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette is a must have for your clutch bag (as you can see mine didn’t carry much) as it’s a natural blusher, subtle highlighter and golden bronzer in one. The colours really suit my skin tone and I didn’t need to put a lot on to get a healthy glow. The highlighter is best for under the arch on your eyebrows, the line across the top of your cheeks, your temples and a bit on your chin.michelleblogpalette

Loads of people have tweeted me asking where my new sunglasses are from – they are Michael Kors and I have been wearing them all the time (not indoors though, that’s just plain wrong!)

Elsewhere I’m on the hunt for the perfect red carpet bag and shoes, because I am going to the BAFTA Awards on May 18th as a guest of one of the partners – St Tropez … I have already chosen my dress which is VERY rare for me as I tend to leave things very last minute, but need the accessories and jewellery to match. I’m on the hunt next week so will report back on goodies I find.

Also next week I am on Lorraine on Tuesday morning to launch the High Street Fashion Awards (make sure you tune in!) and will be doing a live link from Manchester on the Thursday too.

After I am on Lorraine on Tuesday I am straight off to Wiltshire where I am meeting some very inspirational soldiers who are residents of the fantastic Help for Heroes recovery centre – Tedworth House.

The House provides support to serving and veteran members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded, injured or become sick and has state of the art facilities to help nurse the soldiers and ex soldiers who are recovering there.

I’ve been really looking forward to this visit for some time, and will be working with Help For Heroes to help raise vital funds for them later in the year.

Speaking of charities – another one that I support is the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and my friend and ex Coronation Street co-star Catherine Tyldesley is going to be doing getting into Salford Quays and swimming in the OPEN WATER (eeek Cath! It will be soooo coldddd!), to raise money for this vital local cause as part of the Great Swim Series 2014 .To sponsor Cath please go to

I also want to thank everyone again who voted for me for the FHM #100sexiest poll. I was totally shocked when I got the call to say I had won, I honestly couldn’t believe it.. I really do think that being sexy is about smiling, being confident and comfortable in your own skin. You don’t need to put on lots of make-up or wear next to nothing to be sexy.

Here’s to an exciting week ahead!

Lots of love

Auditioning for new roles and those I’m a Celebrity rumours

Well, that’s it! I have officially left Corrie. Thanks again to all the lovely people who have tweeted me and who turned up at the ITV gates to say goodbye. It’s been so overwhelming.

Instead of lazy lie-ins with nothing to do, I have been just as busy as ever, and have started auditioning for some acting roles. They have been really interesting parts, so fingers crossed something might come off! I did see a story in one of the papers this week saying that I was going to be going on I’m a Celebrity but that’s not the case at all, I’m going to be concentrating on my acting career :-)

In between commuting to London for auditions I have been visiting some fab places – this is me in Cruise Club in Chester on Easter Monday. I loved their Studio 54 style dancefloor!

My top and white leather skirt are Lipsy!

I have also been going out with my friends for lunches and have been having a big of a high street shop – this is all new – new dress from Mango and Jacket from Zara and my pendant is a bespoke one from a really cool brand called Mi Moneda. which is Spanish for ‘my coin’ .

I’m totally loving pastels at the moment. Here’s a selection of outfits I have my eye on, especially the pinky Roland Mouret dress. I really need a special night out to wear this beaut!

Speaking of nights out, I need a make-up rehaul. I have used my Naked 3 pallete by Urban Decay so much now nearly all my favourite colours are gone. This one is perfect for my skin tone and is a must for me, I love the size of the mirror and the brushes are of a good quality, the only problem is the size of the palette, its too big to fit in a purse so you cant retouch your make-up on a night out!

Instead I use a decent eye-shadow primer to keep it in place all night – Benefit Stay Don’t Stray is great for this and then I add lashings of their Bad Gal Lash Mascara to finish the look.

I also seem to have about 20 lipsticks in my bag and always wear the same nude MAC Velvet Teddy lipstick, it’s time to get brave and try some new colours out. I love ‘Neon Pink’ by Bobbi Brown. I think it would look best with a neutral outfit though otherwise it’s a bit of colour overload!

I did a photoshoot recently where my make-up artist did a bit of Kim Kardashian contouring on me and I really liked the results, I think it works better on camera than it does for day to day make-up, but I’m not quite sure how to do it at home – are they any decent kits out there that also give you step by step instructions how to do it properly? If so please let me know and I will have a bash at some and let you know the results!

Anyway , till next week , tweet me some pictures (@michkeegan @hellomag ) of your make-up contouring before and afters so that I can work out how to do it!

Lots of love

How to blow dry your hair at home and my leaving presents for the Corrie cast

Hi everyone !

Hope you have all been loving the sunshine as much as I have! This weekend I travelled to Surrey for a photoshoot for another top secret project. All will be revealed next month! We shot in this AMAZING house which was really modern and had an infinity pool, and even a bar and dancefloor in the basement. I’ve never seen a house with a dancefloor in it before! We checked the weather in Europe and where we were on Sunday was hotter than Spain or Greece! Anyway, here is a picture for you of me and the team :-) just as we were all packing up (and still wearing sunglasses due to it still being very bright at 6.30pm!)

I’m also really delighted to tell you that I am going to be one of the judges for Lorraine Kelly’s High Street Fashion Awards 2014 which is taking place on May 21st and broadcasting on Lorraine on the 22nd.

As you know I LOVE the High Street, it’s great at having the latest trends and fashions at really affordable prices, I can’t wait to see some of our brilliant brands recognised at this year’s awards. I will be on Lorraine on May 6th to talk about it so make sure you tune in!

Last week I had an audition down in London so travelled down one morning from Manchester. I had a couple of hours spare so I visited a great salon called Neville’s in Belgravia and had a fab blow dry. I enjoyed the audition, it was my first one in a long time so I was a bit nervous, will let you know what happens!

I love a good blow dry! I am getting better at blow drying my hair at home and I think the key is decent products and doing it in stages with a large bristle brush.

I use mousse like Balmain and hair thickener ‘Full Again’ by Kevin Murphy for Volume :mkblognew2and dry in large sections (I do it with my head down for added oomph! Once my hair is just about dry I add oil and Herra hair perfume (it’s a bit of a secret of mine this product!) which smells sooooo good.

By the time you will be reading this blog I will have finished working at Coronation Street. I just want to thank everyone for all their kind and supportive messages on Twitter and the lovely letters and well wishes over the years. I have some very loyal and fantastic fans and I appreciate all of you so much. I also want to thank all my friends and colleagues on Corrie for the last 6 years of putting up with me!! I will miss everyone there very much , I know everyone says it when they leave but it really is like a family. I got some of the crew some beers and I commissioned my friend – the very talented Sandy Bay to make this beautiful candles for me to give to all the team. I hope they like them!

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter, lots of sunshine and Easter eggs!

Lots of Love

My Corrie stunt double and my exciting secret project

Hi everyone!

This week has been a busy one so far… it’s my final fortnight on Corrie now and I spent all last week doing night scenes, most of which were outside and it was verrrrrrry collllld. I can’t give anything away that will spoil the story of  Tina’s final weeks on the cobbles, but I did have my own stunt woman!

Also I hope you are all voting for your favourites in the British Soap Awards 2014. Everyone keeps asking me if I think I will win Sexiest Female again, to be honest I am amazed I won it once, however my vote this year goes to my very sexy co-star – Catherine Tyldesley. She is such a warm funny and uber gorgeous woman, with the most amazing curves!

Last weekend I went to London to film for a secret project. I can’t tell you what it is just yet but it’s going to be announced in early May. It’s very exciting and to do with TV and  fashion. Here is a sneaky peek from the studio. My eye catching dress was from Zara :-).

I also managed to get in a bit of clothes and beauty shopping during a gap in filming and was well chuffed to find these fab trousers. They are by NORR which is a new Danish brand – you can buy it  in House of Fraser,

My shoes are Office and my top is Miss Selfridge.  Yellow is such a happy colour, it always makes me think of Summer. It’s not long now girls!

Speaking of Summer, it’s about time I bought my new annual pair of sunglasses. I do it once a year, usually when I am bored in Duty Free waiting to board a plane (it’s fun trying on all the pairs of glasses, plus they are a lot cheaper there than in the shops!). I’m hoping to get in a short break in the sunshine after I finish filming on Corrie. I love Ray bans usually,  but I have my eyes on these by Dior. They are called Piccadilly 2 in Light Gold. Gorgeous! Bit expensive at £230 but if they are in Duty Free then they will be a fair bit cheaper.

If you are on the hunt for a pair that are a bit more affordable then these are really nice from Lipsy, I love the bows on the sides, (Sun 30C2 Bronze) and these are about £35. Bargain!

I also stocked up on some of my favourite Origins Dr Andrew Weil Skin Tone Correcting Serum and the Illuminating lotion too which are one of my all time beauty favourite product ranges. I love it because it feels lovely and light on my skin, isn’t greasy at all, and gives a really luminous glow.

After my shopping spree, I went to try out a treatment with a lovely beauty therapist – Lisa Kempley, called LVL lashes. It stands for Length Volume and Lift and  it straightens your lashes rather than curls them, to create the illusion of longer, thicker lashes. The treatment takes between 30 and 45 minutes and lasts up to 6 weeks depending what condition yours are in.  These are great for a treat, holiday or a special occasion!

This weekend I’m off to London for a photoshoot which I am really looking forward to (might be able to sneak a couple of behind the scenes pics from this one!) and then next week is my last week filming on Corrie. Can’t quite believe it!

Lots of love

‘Bridesmaid dress shopping and my last Corrie scenes’

Wow what a busy week it has been!

Firstly myself, my mum Jackie, Aunty Debbie, Aunty Sammy, and my two cousins Katie and Lauren all headed down to London last weekend for a lovely mini Mother’s Day break. We went to London in the day and Essex at night for dinner at my favourite restaurant Sheesh which is in Chigwell.

Girls weekend!

Girls weekend!

During the weekend I also took my cousins to try on bridesmaid dresses which was so exciting! I’m not giving anything away though, other than they all looked beautiful :-)

On the tube en-route to the dress shop!

On the tube en-route to the dress shop!

It’s been hard to spend quality time with my family with me being so busy, so I am very happy that we all got the chance to go away and have fun.

After the fitting!

After the fitting!

I have been filming night shoots all week on the Street, including my final scenes so I have had fake bruises and fake blood on me, I keep forgetting and then glancing in the mirror and freaking myself out as the make-up looks so lifelike! It’s been hitting home that this is nearly the end of my time on Coronation Street and I’m starting to realise how much I will miss my friends in the cast and the crew.

I am holding a big party soon to say thank you and goodbye to everyone which I am sooooooo looking forward to!

On Wednesday I managed to do a bit of home pampering, because it’s important to look after your skin and also to be nice to yourself! I turned the TV off, lit one of my Sandy Bay candles (Vintage Champagne) which you can get from

I put my comfy clothes on, and had a relaxing bath and used the delicious smelling Incredible Spreadable Ginger body scrub by Origins. Try it, it’s AMAZING . On my face I used Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective White Brightening Exfoliator, which gets rid of all the dead skin on your face and leaves it so soft and clear.

Smells good enough to eat!

Smells good enough to eat!

I then tried out the Kiehls Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masks. WOW. This product seriously does what it says. I left the overnight mask on while I slept, it did feel a little bit greasy on my skin at first but when I woke up my skin looked so much better. I will be doing this every week from now on and although the products are not the cheapest on the market, they really do work .

Try this for amazing soft skin!

Try this for amazing soft skin!

I only have two weeks left on Coronation Street now and I am filming nearly every day but I’m looking forward to watching the Grand National this weekend and heading down to watch a recording of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

Have a great weekend everyone !

Lots of love

My unusual photoshoot and my latest buys

Hi everyone!

Sooo! This is my first blog for HELLO! Online! I’m really excited to be joining the HELLO! team, here is what’s been going on in my life this week:

I’m on a bit of a health kick following my holiday to Dubai, and have been trying to get to the gym around 4 times a week. Sometimes I don’t get there till after I finish work which can be after 8pm and I always try and think of excuses not to go, but once I’ve trained for 45mins to 1hr I feel loads better… I just stick my headphones on, get the tunes going on and do a mixture of weights and cardio. I don’t have a personal trainer, I take health and nutrition advice off people and just train myself!

Last weekend I went on a shoot with a bit of a difference and I wanted to share this with my readers!

A creative team I work with and I went up to a farm in the Peak District to do a fashion shoot involving animals, with some of the shots carrying an Easter and Spring theme. I didn’t realise how high up the Peak District was and over the course of just one day we had rain, hail, wind and sun, the weather was so unpredictable and quite random. I’m not going to lie, it was pretty cold! Just look at this pic of how covered up the crew were!

Me with a baby chick!

Me with a baby chick!

The shoot concept sounded really cute with bunnies, lambs and chicks, but it wasn’t as easy as it sounds! I soon learnt that they have a habit of not keeping still, wandering off, pecking you and doing things that you erm, don’t quite expect! (or want on a photoshoot!) Needless to say, the pictures were a lot of fun. Here’s some snaps from the day.

I always pick up great tips from shoots and will be sharing them with you – I absolutely love this Urban Decay naked 2 palette for my eyes.

Benefit Primer ‘Porefessional’ which keeps make up set all day (great for nights out and red carpet too!) and Shu Uemera lashes which look so natural and full on camera.

For my hair we used the Kevin Murphy range which I love because its paraben free so it’s good for your hair and for the environment, and as my hair is so fine my hairdresser Reuben used thick dark brown clip in Beauty Work extensions for added length and oomph!

I went through the shots last night and it’s looking good!

I also managed to get down to the Trafford Centre this week at had a bit of a shop. I spied these shoes from Office which I love, so got them in both colours (woops!)

However I was on the lookout for a high street version of this gorgeous Victoria Beckham white blazer:

And hurray! I found a similar one in Zara. This jacket looks really effortless and stylish with dark blue jeans or jeggings and a sexy heel. I would team it with the new YSL brown clutch bag, which I am saving up for. It’s GORGEOUS!

I’m going to be going to quite a few castings and business meetings when I leave Corrie next month so an outfit like this is perfect, and the jacket is great for a night time look with leather trousers.

Next week I will tell you all about what I did on Mother’s day for my mum Jackie, and I’m going to have a bit of a pamper night in to try out some overnight beauty masks and body scrubs so I will report back on the ones I like :-)

Lots of love
