Wrapping on Ordinary Lies & the Strictly Tour

It’s a wrap!

So the first series of Ordinary Lies has now wrapped. We have been filming for 5/6 months, mainly in Warrington, and then I had a week filming over in the Dominican Republic in November which was rather nice!

I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone. I have had a such a good time filming the series.

The cast and crew have been a dream to work with and I have become firm friends with many of them. The wrap party is this week and I will be back in Manchester for that …..ohhhhh yes !

Here I am with Gemma, who is a make-up artist.

strictly6

Here’s one of me in the car showroom we film in, it was FREEEEEEZING that day hence the 90’s puffa jacket (who cares, it was the warmest coat I could find!)

strictly4

And here’s one of me getting my hair done in the make-up trailer.

strictly7

And finally here’s one of all the cast. It’s been an absolute pleasure guys and I have learned so much from you all :-) see you all sooooooon!

strictly5

Ordinary Lies will be out in the Spring on BBC1 – as soon as I get a TX date for it I will let you know.

Aside from filming, I have been in Birmingham all weekend with Mark because the nationwide Strictly Come Dancing tour has started. The show is fab, you must try and see it if it comes to a city near you!

Mark said it’s very different to doing the live shows because a) it’s not televised so the pressure is off and the contestants are just having a laugh and enjoying the dancing even more. 2) performing in front of so many people is actually less nerve racking for him, than when he was performing in front of 500 people in the BBC studio.

Here are some piccies from the show.

strictly2strictly1astrictly

Over the weekend I was pictured out and about in Birmingham with my favourite new ankle boots on. I love them – sooooooo comfy.

boots

They are still in the sale at Nine West at the bargain price of £59. The only down side to this taupe/cream colour is keeping them clean, but I give mine a quick scrub every couple of days to keep them nice.

Here’s the website link for them http://www.ninewest.co.uk/jarrad-2.html

Also I have been sent some really funky T-shirts from a cool Manchester based company called Dead Legacy. The website address for their womenswear is http://www.deadlegacy.com/women

Some of the T’s are a little, erm, bold and out there in their slogans! But I really like these ones and will be wearing them when it gets a little warmer.

michelle5michelle4michelle3

Now you might have heard of the brand Beauty Works when looking to buy clip in hair extensions or hairpieces – but they also have their own haircare range and I am quite impressed. The packaging is modern in white and light grey, and the actual products seem to work very well in my hair, I especially like their Professional Argan Oil Shampoo, Conditioner and Heat Protection Spray.

michelle
You can get it here : http://beautyworksonline.com/haircare.html

I also love this tres cute little necklace I picked up from Topshop it was only £5!

strictly3

I have my eyes also on these ones and will no doubt pick them up next time I am out shopping.

Hope you all have a good week,

Girls night out & pamper time

Hope everyone has had a good weekend and has been sticking to any New Year’s resolutions they have made?!

I have been hitting the gym, mainly because my metabolism was feeling a bit sluggish after Christmas and Dubai, and have re started my Soulmate Paleo healthy eating food plan – and I already feel better for it. Www.soulmatefood.com

Here’s an example of one of my menus:

MICH

I love the nuts snacks, as they taste delicious, and the coconut and chia muffin is FIT also. They certainly don’t taste like your average ‘healthy’ sweet snacks.

At the gym, I tend to do weights and toning excersizes mixed in with short bursts of cardio. I don’t have a personal trainer, I prefer to just get cracking myself, and get in the mood for a workout by blasting the tunes on my way in the car and on my earphones when I’m in the gym.

We all deserve a treat in life, and I never deprive myself of the things I love, so I invited some of my best friends to Essex this weekend for a girls night out. Roisin and Becky (my old friends from school) came down from Manchester and we met up with our pal Helen who already lives round here.

It was so nice to see them and we had such a giggle, we went shopping round Essex during the day and then in the evening we got dressed up and visited one of my favourite restaurants in Essex – Sheesh which is in Chigwell http://sheeshrestaurant.co.uk/ .

michelle

Yes that is an Espresso Martini in my hand! No ‘dry Jan’ for me!

My new over knee boots are by Stuart Weitzmann www.stuartweitzman.com and although they are not cheap – they are a great quality, fit well and are SO COMFY. Also – this kind of style will keep coming into fashion so im very happy with my new purchase.

My skirt is new and it’s from good old Zara. My top is old , and I can’t remember where it’s from ha!

Helen who is my friend to my right (also with the espresso martini) is wearing a black lace playsuit from my Lipsy collection. She loved it – and I think she looked fantastic in it too.

Later in the evening I spotted this gorgeous lady wearing one of my favourite LBD’s from the collection so I had to have a picture with her – I’m sure you will agree that she looked FAB! It’s so nice to see ladies out and about wearing my pieces, I feel so chuffed!

michelle1

Here’s some pics of the delicious food we had …

michelle2michelle3
Yes I know – the veg moussake doesn’t look very healthy with all the cheese, but hell it was scrummy!

And here’s another pic of us a bit later in Sheesh, after cracking open a cheeky bottle of champagne :-)

michelle4

Now, as you know I love a good pamper and have been sent a lot of products to try out. I try and look after my teeth as much as possible – mainly because they weren’t so great when I was younger and I had to wear a brace which I found frustrating at times. Anyways, I love this!

michelle5

it’s made with coconut oil and you basically swish the sachets around in your mouth . This helps keep your teeth white and gums healthy. It’s a bit of an odd sensation at first but I have seen a marked improvement after using around 6/7 times .

I have also been using lots of masks on my hair and face as bit are feeling pretty dry after being in the sun in Dubai.

I love this mask by Dermalogica it refines pores and makes your skin tighter and smoother. Don’t use it if your skin is overly dry though – this is one for more normal to oily skin.

michelle6

And this by GlamGlow – I love this one because it tingles when you put it on your face and your skin look clearer, and feel much smoother afterwards.

michelle7

I have also been sent these products too, by Dr Organic http://www.drorganic.co.uk/
And apparently one of the ingredients is ‘ snail secretion” !!!! I haven’t tried it yet but I’m up for most things so I will try this over the next week and report back ( if i get over the idea of snails and slime on my face pahahahaha!)

michelle8

I have given my hair some much needed love – with one of my favourite hair products on the market – Angel Masque by Kevin Murphy – this smells AMAZING and my hair feels soft and looks so shiny after using it.

michelle9
Have a good week everyone !

Lots of love

Calendar success, beauty must haves and fashion tips for 2015

Hey everyone!!!!! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. What did Santa bring you? Did you eat, drink and be very, very merry?!

I was very lucky this year and got some nice crockery and bits for the house, lots of smellies including my favourite Tom Ford ‘Cafe Rose’ perfume from a dear friend, and some gorgeous clothes.

Here's me last night in one of my fave @lipsylondon lipsylovemichelle dresses and im also wearing my new Aldo rings that i mentioned last week

Here’s me last night in one of my fave @lipsylondon lipsylovemichelle dresses and im also wearing my new Aldo rings that i mentioned last week

Mark and I had a fab Christmas day with lots of family and friends over, SOOOOOOOOOooooo much foood eaten and plenty of chocs and Christmas pudding too. We also got a Karaoke machine which was great entertainment. I think Mark enjoyed it the most though, as he loves a good singalong and we couldn’t get him off the microphone pahaahah!!!

Christmas day at our house and everyone was a bit tired after Christmas dinner so Carol (Marks mum) brought round some wigs and this kick started round two of the partying - the Kareoke went on till the early hours and we all had a ball!

I have to say, I’m chuffed to bits with how well my first ever calendar has done. Thank you to every single one of you who has bought it – and tweeted me pictures of it too!

calmichkcoverlowres

I couldn’t believe it when I was told how well it has sold. It’s currently at number 4 with Amazon – with One Directon (of course!) coming number 1 .

I love the pictures and really enjoyed doing the shoot in beautiful Pollensa… Thank you again to my fab creative team involved – Alan , Fay, Laura, Collette and Lorraine all from @vitalcreatives.

fashblogteampic

You can still buy the posters and the calendars from this shoot – from Amazon, Danilo.com and www.GBeye.com

I’m always on the look out for new gadgets and products for hair and beauty, and this one is a treat!

It’s a new hair brand on the market called ‘Pro Blo’ and it’s basically a fail safe hair kit for achieving a salon style blow dry.

problow3

You towel dry your hair and spray lots of heat protector and volumiser into it, then split it into sections and use the bristle brushes that detach from the barrel to curl up your hair. (Just like a hairdresser would leave loads of big brushes in your hair while they are drying it).

problo1problo2

Once your hair is dry then you unravel your hair and tad-daa! Big boucy hair.. for more info on Pro Blo go to their website : http://www.problogroup.com/ I love it because it’s really easy to use..

michelle

I have also asked one of my favourite Manchester based make-up artists Miss Emily Clarkson – @emmyclarkson1 -for some expert guidance on what products to buy in the world of make-up …here’s what she had to say :

” Here are a few of my favourite buys for 2015 for you to add into your make-up bag!

“Clarins Instant Light concealer is my new favourite at the minute- I’m obsessed! It is absolutely beautiful; I mix with it Clarins Instant light brush on perfector, which really gets rid of any dark circles without it being too cakey under the eye. Remember to take it in a V Shape under the eye to avoid that panda eye effect!

product

“Sleek make up is one of my favourite brands in Superdrug and is such great quality! The pigment in every product is amazing, what you see with the colours is exactly what you get! I always recommend the face contour kit, which is super cheap and has a gorgeous highlighter in one part and a flat contour colour in the other.

“I love radiant glowing skin and so do a lot of my clients, I’m a big fan of BB/CC Creams with good coverage. I recently discovered Resultime by Collin Paris CC cream, which is amazing and is now a staple in my kit. It’s got a creamy texture but gives you coverage where needed and gives you that healthy glow! ”

product1

Thanks Emily ! I will defintely be getting some Clarins Instant Light Concealer and I will keep a look out for the Sleek products next time im in Superdrug..product2

And while you are all scouring the sales looking for bargains – These are the looks that I think will be big in 2015 :-)

Denim will be huge!!! so stock up on your denim shirts, dresses, jeggings, waistcoats and jackets. Double and triple denim can be worn…its no longer a fashion no no …. This is a good time to grab some pieces in the sales, as it never really dates and you could grab a luxe denim bargain in one of the more expensive designerstores.

Off the shoulder dresses. Yes ladies the dellecotage is IN! This is a very sexy look and will be THE dress style for 2015. I love this Briget Bardot style white dress I did with Lipsy.

fashblog1

Its elegant and a lil bit sexy too. Perfect for a date night or weekend away. Dont forget to highlighter to your collar bones and tops of your chest to catch the light . Mac Strobe cream or the Laura Mercier radiance primer is ideal.

Buy Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – Radiance, 50ml online at johnlewis.com

product3

The 70s dont just think of the scary and garish prints and ridiculous bell bottom flares. This is more of a subtle lean towards this fashionable era with interesting oversized jewellery, floppy hats, sequins, big hair, wide trousers and plenty of fitted coloured suede jackets and A-line skirts.

I hope that helps you when you are refreshing your wardrobes…!

A few people have asked me if I have any new years resolutions planned – I have a huge year coming up – as I’m getting married and have some interesting work projects on the horizon too, but the only new years resolution I have is the same one I had last year and that’s to be more organised! I am getting better though and have got myself a decent diary so that I can plan things better.

Thank you for all your support this year, wishing you all good health and great happiness in 2015.

All my love,

from

Mark makes the Strictly Final, and attending the Millies.

HURRAY!!!!! MARK IS IN THE FINAL! SO, SO proud of him! All our family and friends are. Thank you SO MUCH To everyone who voted for him. He’s going to go all out for the final and I will be there cheering him on :-)

Here’s a pic of him and Karen after the show.
michelle2

I went on Saturday night with his family, the atmosphere in the studio was buzzing.. Karen and Mark have worked so hard for this, and it’s extra special for Mark as he is the only one in the final who has never had any dance training prior to the show, what an achievement for him!

Here’s a pic of me and with Mark, after the results show having a much earned beer … (I’m wearing my new season Lipsy Poncho)
michelle1

Earlier in the week we both attended the Millies at Greenwich Maritime Museum. It was such an honour to be invited. We had a wonderful evening, and met so many service men and women… hearing their stories was very moving.

I will be doing more with the Help For Heroes charity in 2015. http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ .

h4h

The head of external operations there is a man called Mark Elliott (Hi Mark!). And he has asked me to highlight a very special plight – about homeless veterans this Christmas.

There is a project that H4H is championing, which is an incentive by one of their sister charities – Walking with the Wounded

http://walkingwiththewounded.org.uk/event/walking-home-for-christmas-2014/

michelle
Inspire your friends, colleagues and family by walking home from work this Christmas – no matter how far or how long it takes – to raise funds for those who won’t be spending the festive season at home with their families.

You basically pay £15 to the charity and the money goes directly to their £40k homeless project called Make It Work which helps wounded, injured and sick veterans who have become homeless back into work.

So, ditch the train, the bus, your car or your bike, put on your trainers or walking boots and get walking. The only rule is that you have to do the walk between 15 – 23 December and be home safe in time for Christmas. So not only do you help a good cause, you also get fit!

Anyway, back to the Millies- Before the awards I had some pamper time and the day before I tried this Bliss instant energising mask and eye gel – my skin felt very clean, a bit dry but tighter and the pores were less visible.

michelle8
Then on the day I used this Radiant Glow Express Mask by Sisley – well it certainly does what it says on the tin.
michelle5

My skin was soft smooth and glowing after just 10 mins of putting it on. I also used this Origins GinZing eye cream to brighten and depuff my eyes. I’ve used it before and think it works a treat ..
Michelle-15

Remember last week I said I would be wearing a Mark Melia gown? Well it was sent down to my house in Essex but not in time ! Gutted! Not to worry it’s just one of those things, I will definitely be wearing it to another red carpet even as it is such a beautiful dress and Mark is a great designer…

So luckily Essex isn’t exactly without its ultra glam ladies, so I headed to a great boutique in Chigwell in Essex called Debra. I found this elegant evening dress which was perfect for the occasion.
michelle6

I wore jewellery that Mark Melia provided for me (sent earlier than the dress, ha ha). Here is their website – they also sell online – have a look if you still need a Xmas day or News Years WOW frock! http://www.debrachigwell.co.uk/

For my hair I had a simple blow dry and had my fringe pinned off my face. I used this new bit of kit that was sent to me by Nicky Clarke. The heated rollers are really good, they left my hair full of bounce with a gentle curl.

michelle9

michelle7

For my make-up I kept it quite simple with a slick of red lippy, used these Ardell false lashes for some extra lash oomph, and I used the Nars Hot Sand Illuminator on my arms and collar bone.

michelle3

michelle4

Here’s some pics from the night – The Millies is on ITV1 on the 18th December I think!

michelle10

Aside from the Milles and Strictly, I have just been relaxing at home in Essex and had a few meetings. It’s actually really refreshing to be doing nothing for a change, I’m not lying when I say it rarely happens! I’m popping back to Manchester for a few days this week to see family and friends and then it really will be Christmas time!

I don’t really know what I want for Christmas, I have asked for a nice big make-up organiser box, and some comfy pyjamas, I know… not very glam pahahaha, but so long as I am around my loved ones this Xmas then that’s enough for me. :-)

Until Next Week ( and after the Strictly final- exciting!! !!!)

Lots of Love

Leather skirts and getting festive

Brrrr! It’s getting colder now ! Here I was last week getting some rays in the beautiful sunshine, and now it’s proper wrap-up-warm weather!

michelle1

This week I am loving leather skirts. I had the chance to pop out and do some shopping and picked up this beaut from Zara. It’s a STEAL at just £25.99.

michelle2

I haven’t worn it out yet, but rest assured  I will do!

I have also spied these ones from Mango and from Espirit (you can get it from ASOS. I think the leather has to be good quality, and not too shiny for this look to work well, and the skirt to be just on the knee.)

leatherskirt2espiritasosleatherskirt1mango

I would team it with a oversized or long clutch, and either over knee black boots or these MUST have shoes I have seen from Dune which I LOVE!

michelle3
I’ve also bought this lovely coat from Almost Famous. It’s not the cheapest at £229 but I think it will last a few years, it’s timeless in style and it’s very good quality.

This week was a bit of a prep week for me, so I went to Essex and caught up with myself after filming away and also hit the gym a bit too. I had a meeting with Lipsy up in Manchester about my Spring/Summer collection and I’m very excited about it. The first wave will hit the shops just before Christmas! I’m hoping to be able to give my Hello! blog readers a sneak preview too.

On Saturday I went up to Solihull to launch the big Touchwood shopping centre festive celebrations. I’ve never been there before and I have to say – the people who turned up to meet me were all so lovely.

touch1touch2

Thank you Solihull for giving me such a good welcome! I wore my Lipsy poncho – you can’t buy it on the Lipsy website anymore but you CAN get it from the Next website. It’s very snuggly and perfect for this time of year.

I teamed it with a polo neck jumper, black jeans that I have had for years (I think they are Topshop) and some Zara cream boots. Here I am arriving:

michelle6
Thanks to everyone who brought calendars and posters for me to sign too!

touch3touch4

I had a lovely morning and came away feeling even more festive. I can’t wait to put my tree up. In fact I might just do it this week!!!

Straight after my PA in Solihull I had to jump in a car to take me to Elstree to watch Mark tango on Strictly. I loved his performance I thought him and Karen did incredibly well. He’s so tired at the moment bless him, he’s working so hard!

I used this mascara by Benefit – ‘Beyond Mascara – They’re Real’ on Saturday, and I’m not sure if its waterproof or not but it didnt move or even smudge all day . Very impressed.

michelle7
I also wore my favourite pearl studs from Pearlescence.

leatherskirt4earrings

and these very cute and delicate bracelets from Chlobo

michelle8

http://www.chlobo.co.uk/

This week I will be mostly up in Manchester filming, and hopefully I will get some time to start planning my hen party! It’s all top secret I’m afraid. I mean, I don’t even know half of what my gals are planning for me… all I know is the dates and the location so who knows what will be going on!

Until next week

Winter skin – advice and recommendations, and a sunny filming trip abroad!

Hi everyone!

Have you had a good week? I have been out of the country on a top secret filming project for Ordinary Lies. It went very well, and I am not going to lie – it was lovely to be in the sunshiiiiiiinnnnneeee! and to get a few hours of downtime on a sun lounger, was very much enjoyed.

Here’s some pictures of me and some of the cast/crew – this is me with Gemma & Fiona our two fantastic make-up artists, and Charelle who is my co-star on the series.

mkaway1mkaway2

Here’s myself and Charelle on a scooter – my playsuit is from Primark! Love the bright colours and it fitted really well too.

mkaway

We had SUCH a good time and all got on very well.

I made sure I watched Mark’s performance on Saturday night – I thought his and Karen’s charleston was SO GOOD and my dad Mike and stepmum Lynne went down to support him in Blackpool too, so that was nice. I’m very proud of how well he is doing, he’s been so dedicated, and I think he’s really starting to shine on Strictly.

Anyway its back to errrrr not so sunny Manchester now, and yes, I AM feeling the chill! I have kept up with my training over the last week though and have been working out in my new Lipsy Sportswear.
My favourite pieces are these slogan T’s :

Micheele-Keegan-1

http://www.lipsy.co.uk/store/sportswear/lipsy-sport-oversized-tee/product-is-LG00909_011

Micheele-Keegan-2

http://www.lipsy.co.uk/store/sportswear/lipsy-sport-strappy-statement-cami/product-is-LG00910_001

Also, this week I have changed my healthy eating plan to the Paleo eating plan with http://soulmatefood.com/

The Paleo plan is a different way of eating, a nutrient dense plan… lots of protein! The Paleo Diet is based on how humans used to eat as cavemen, WAY back in the day, before processed foods etc. the philosophy is this – If a caveman couldn’t eat it, neither can you.

My ex Corrie co-star and friend Cath Tyldesley swears by Paleo for good health, so I thought I would give it a whirl. Will let you know my thoughts soon and will tell you if I am honestly missing carbs or not!

To find out more go to:

http://www.soulmatefood.com/MenuPlans

mkblogb

Now with Winter now well and truly here, it’s so important too look after your skin. Mine does get quite dry during the cold months so I change my skin routine a bit. I tend to go for cream based moisturizers instead of serums, and make sure I put on plenty of eye cream in the morning and the night time.

My favourite eye creams are Dr Andrew Weil for Origins Dark Circle minimizer which has a goldy tint to it to help with brightening your skin under the eyes.

mkblogc

And Dermalogica’s Intensive Eye Repair which contains Vitamin A and Pro Vitamin b5 to help with fine lines and improve elasticity.

mkbloge

Before I moisturize at night I make sure my make-up is all off by using this Kiehls Deep Pore Cleansing Mask which foams a bit when you add water and gives your face a really decent clean without drying out your skin and making it feel taut.

mkblognewa It contains Amazonian clay apparently too (not sure what that does but it sounds good!), the cleanser claims to help reduce the appearance of pores. I have been using it for a couple of weeks both in hot and cold weather and I definitely see an improvement.

Rich moisturizers I am loving at the moment are Dermalogica Skin Smoothing crème during the day and their Super Rich Repair moisturiser at night.

mkblogn

This is the Don of face creams that I have tried – it contains powerful peptides help stimulate collagen production while an acid-free smoothing complex helps improve elasticity and tone. It’s by no means the cheapest product on the market though – (its £62 but a little does go a long way!) and if you are looking for something more affordable then I would suggest The Sanctuary Moisture Miracle Balm ( absolute BARGAIN at £7.50) or the Laura Mercier Mega Moisturiser £42.50 which really hydrates your skin and contains lots of Vit A + E too.

mkblogj

mkblogi

I also asked one of my favourite make up artists Emily Clarkson @EmmyClarkson1 http://emilyclarkson.co.uk/ for her tips on Winter skincare – her comments below:

“With the winter season fast approaching, it’s time to start preparing your skin for the cold weather. I always start firstly by using a great cleanser. I first used this Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm years ago when my skin was extremely sensitive and prone to breakouts and it completely changed my skin! It’s perfect for removing make up at night and I also use it in the morning to clean and cleanse the skin before moisturizer.

mkblogk

http://www.emmahardie.com

“A great moisturizer is key to keeping you hydrated throughout the day, if you have read Michelle’s blog on radiant skin you’ll know we love the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentre, it is amazing and perfect before applying make up- you’ll really see the difference! My clients love it! (http://www.embryolisse.co.uk)

mkblogl

“If you have extremely dry or flakey skin and need a moisturizer that is thicker and more intense- Origins ‘Make A Difference Plus +’ is instantly effective and is incredible for targeting extremely dry areas.

mkblogm

http://www.origins.co.uk

“It’s really important to keep your lips protected against the cold weather, we all know how frustrating chapped lips can be! This Dermalogica climate control lip treatment- is perfect for repairing any damaged skin and really helps protect against the coldest of days! http://www.dermalogica.co.uk

“Lastly but still just as important, don’t forget to keep your body moisturised! This Soap & Glory body butter lotion smells unbelievable and keeps your skin silky smooth and smelling great all day! Double up on your elbows and knees for the best result! “

Thanks Emily for your expert advice!

Before I sign off this week, I must let you know about my official posters that are now on sale in HMV, Poster Lounge and GB Posters – http://www.gbposters.com/michelle-keegan-brand

mkaway4

The pictures used were some extra images from my 2015 Calendar. I LOVE these pictures and hope you do too… if you go to the GB website you will see a competition to win a signed one from me too! :-)

Filming Ordinary Lies and my beauty and fashion must haves

It has been another busy week on the set of Ordinary Lies. There’s a real camaraderie amongst the cast and crew and I’ve struck up some really good friendships which is really nice.

Here’s a picture of me with some of the gals!

girls

One of the cast members is Jason Manford, he’s a very funny guy (yes I know , he’s a comedian, he’s supposed to be!). He made a joke on twitter a couple of weeks ago that I’m playing his wife in the series, however I’m actually not! The press keep writing it every time we get pictured now, sorry to disappoint guys but Jason was having you on!

I’ve been keeping warm on set in my Australia Luxe boots. I’ve had them a while, a couple of years at least, and they are so snugly. Bit more expensive than Uggs but they last for years and I think they are funkier looking too.

Here’s some other designs they do that I have my eye on:

uggs

As I said the other week, I’ve had my hair extensions taken out now, and I’m giving my hair lots of TLC so that it’s in the best possible condition next year.

I have been using this Philip Kinglsey Elastizer and it’s seriously good.

philip

The way it works is this: Healthy hair stretches when wet before returning to its original length when dry. However hair in poor condition snaps and breaks when stretched (like mine!) Intensely moisturising Elasticizer delivers a rush of moisture to the hair’s cuticle; suppleness, elasticity and bounce appear instantly without weighing down or coating the hair.

You can notice the difference in how your hair feels and looks after the first time you use it!

Have you every heard of a make-up brand called Kiko Milano? It’s a leading Italian cosmetics company, they launched in 1997, and aren’t that well known in the UK, but the brand is growing fast so they must be good! I have been sent some of their pieces. Love the packaging especially the decent sized mirrors in the eye shadow compacts, and will be trying these out properly in the next couple of weeks.

eyeshadow

I’m still loving all my Dermalogica products (especially here two below) and can say that my skin is sooooo much better than it was a couple of months ago. It’s hard to pinpoint what exactly has made it improve, but combined with healthy diet, lots of water , skin supplements and of course all the different potions and lotions I have been trying on my boat race, this seems to have done the trick!

dermaderma1

Finally, I must tell you about this gorgeous Orange Flower & Lychee body mist from Kiehls. Now I tend to stick to perfumes, but this scent is so delicious that I don’t need to put anything on over it and it’s a handy handbag size. Next time you pass the Kiehls counter – ask for a spray! It kind of reminds me of a morning summery holiday scent, combined with my favourite Lychee Martinis from a restaurant in Manchester called Australasia. YUM!

Making a house a home, cheeky night in London, and top tips for healthy hair

This week has been a mixture of filming up in Manchester and getting my home all nice and organised in Essex.

We are so settled in our new home, it’s like a real sanctuary now, and I have to thank Laura and Sarah who run an interior design/furniture shop business in Essex called ‘Stripes of Essex’.

They are sisters and have a sharp eye for detail, and have helped make the house into a home :-) can’t recommend them enough – thank you talented ladies!! To contact them please tweet @stripesofessex or here’s the website http://www.stripesofessex.com

Here are some pictures:

In other news, I’ve finally taken out the hair extensions I had in over the summer, and it feels goooooood!

Instead for volume and thickness, I just pop in some Beauty Works clip in’s ( http://beautyworksonline.com ) and they do the trick. They do them in lots of different lengths and colours and the quality of hair is very good.

It’s so important to look after your hair , and keep it in tip top condition. This week I asked one of my favourite hairdressers Reuben Wood, what his expert tips are on keeping your tresses shiny and lush :-)

Reuben said :
1 Try not to wash your hair every day, as this can strip your hair of natural oils!
When you wash your hair try using silicon free shampoo, massage you scalp, as this increases circulation and prevents dandruff. Repeat and rinse. Then use a good conditioner using stroking motions and try to avoid the roots, just mid length to ends! (For a bouncy blow dry) and try using the coolest temp, so that you don’t overheat your hair .

2 Avoid combing your hair when wet, as the hair is stretchy and can snap.

3 Always good to use a soft bristle brush, as this also helps spread natural oils through the hair!

4 When blow drying point the dryer down the shaft of the hair to smooth the cuticle, avoid pointing the hair dryer to the scalp.

5 Once a week use a good treatment (such as Kerastase Masquintense ) have a glass of wine and chill for a hour!!!!!

Pahaahaha, not sure what relevance the glass of wine has in keeping your hair in good condition, but who cares!

I’ve been continuing on my healthy (ish) eating mission with my SoulMate food plan www.soulmatefood.com

As I said the other week, I’m not on a ‘diet’ (I have spotted a couple of magazines suggesting this, and it’s not true). I have no desire to loose weight, healthy eating is just that- eating balanced and nutritious meals. I’m having three meals and three snacks a day!!!

I’m still enjoying Bootea too and have these tasty herbal teas instead of coffee, because they are much healthier.

Bootea teatox is from www.bootea.com or Holland and Barrett nationwide.

Speaking of food, I went to London end of the week to see Mark , he was on ‘it takes two’ (here’s some sneaky lil piccies backstage).

Then we went to the INCREDIBLE Sushi Samba. It’s a mixture of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian food.

Partying with Brooke Vincent in Ibiza

So I’m back on UK soil, after having a fab break in sunny Ibiza. I was over there for a photoshoot and luckily got the chance to relax with my friends, including my cousin Katie who celebrated her birthday there and one of my best pals from Corrie, the one and only Brooke Vincent.

Brooke and I used to share a dressing room and we have a similar sense of humour. She’s huge fun to be around and I’ve missed her since I left in April so it was lovely to have some QPT (quality party time) together!

Here’s us in Ushuwia and us at the Lipsy Ocean Beach pool party.

We also went to Pacha which was amazing. The nightlife over there is really something.

Once back in Essex my mummy Jackie and my stepdad Dave came down to stay with me in the new house. We did some serious homeware retail therapy, I also managed to get my hands on this gorgeous new pair of new look shoes – perfect for a LBD or trouser suit at the absolute bargain price of £34.99. No, they are not home wear, but I could wear them in the house??!!

image_2

I also got this really cute necklace from @sparklingrings, I haven’t taken it off!

image_3

I have been searching for some new lounge/chill wear and spent ages wandering around Westfield some some comfy clothing… but couldn’t really find anything that caught my eye – so it was a sheer fluke this week, when I got sent this gorgeous new range from Miami.

image_4

It’s starting up in the UK via www.bestfriendshowroom.co.uk (the website isn’t live yet so if you want to get some of the range now – go to www.peaceloveworld.com) and the clothing is really soft and feels quality, fits really well and I love the slogans on the tracksuit tops and t shirts.

Reminds me a bit of the ‘Wildfox’ Brand but the cost is a little less.

Look at these! Really cute, perfect for travelling, yoga or just snuggling on the couch with a brew and a mag!!

This week I stood in for Mark Heyes who is the fashion expert on Lorraine. I really like working with Lorraine Kelly and Kate Garraway… They make presenting look so easy, and if I’m being honest – it really isn’t! You have people talking into your ear while you are talking to the camera and it’s very fast paced but the show is very professional and I always enjoy going on.

While I am on the subject of TV it won’t be long now till I can let you know what me next acting role will be!! I’m SO excited about it, it’s a serious drama and can’t wait to get started on filming which will be later next month… As soon as I can tell you more I will :-)

The second phase of my Lipsy collection was out nationwide on Wednesday. I love the campaign images, we shot it at the very cool London ME hotel here’s a few of my favourite pieces :-)

You can get the new phase on www.lipsy.co.uk on ASOS.com in Bank and Lipsy stores too.

Until next week
Lots of love

Holidaying in Majorca with my girlfriends

My feet have barely touched UK soil this week… More of my girlfriends joined me in Spain mid week, and I’m not gonna lie – we had a BALL!

Can I just say – how amazing is this hotel we stayed in? We stayed at the ME Mallorca hotel http://www.melia.com/en/hotels/spain/majorca/me-mallorca/index.html TWITTER: @MEMallorca

It looks like it could be in Palma, Barcelona or St Tropez but NO! Can you believe it is slap bang in the middle of Magaluf! Yes Magaluf – the resort with all the bad press!!! Well, can I just say that I love Mallorca – and that includes Magaluf- especially because of this gorgeous hotel.

Shots on our veranda of the @MEMallorca. How ladylike!!

The rooms are really modern and elegant, and the staff are warm and professional. Me and my girls (there were 7 of us) spent the days relaxing by the pool or at the beach, and at night we either went out in Magaluf, or took a cab (15mins) to Puerto Portals or Palma for dinner and dancing!

Here’s some snaps from our trip :

So from Tuesday to Friday it was a proper girls holiday. On the Friday Mark flew back over to Mallorca with his pal because he had a PA there on the Saturday, and it was my friend Liz’s birthday so we needed somewhere loud and fun to celebrate this – we decided to watch the world famous Pirates show which is about 10 mins walk from our hotel.

Me and the cast

Me and the cast

I went a couple of months ago to the family show (and told you about it in this very blog!) but this one was the late night *aherm* adult version. It’s basically a bit racier, pumping music and lots of scantily clad acrobatic & breakdancing pirates.

The girls and all of the Pirates

We all LOVED it, it’s a very slick show and you can tell the cast love doing it! For more info go to their website http://www.piratesadventure.com .

Mark and the HOT female cast (Mark looks quite pleased with himself ha ha!)

Sadly on Sunday we had to say goodbye to Mallorca because I had a business meeting in London on Monday. It was SO special to be able to spend a week with some of my closest friends.

Now on a slightly different note – whenever I am on shoots I always ask the creatives I work with for handy hints, cheats, products they recommend and and ones they don’t. I’ve decided to start sharing their expert hints and tricks with my HELLO! Blog readers – because they are the ones with the expert know how and help me look A LOT better than I ever do when I first sit down in that makeup chair in the morning…

Or when I arrive at a hotel for a red carpet event in my trackie and greasy hair! Anyway, first thing I asked them was – tricks to take a good picture – be it a selfie snap or a red carpet moment – and here’s what they said:

One of my favourite make-up artists Collette Casey, said her fail safe tricks for looking good in front of a camera are:

Collette and I on a recent Lipsy campaign shoot

Collette and I on a recent Lipsy campaign shoot

1.Lightening your foundation /concealer under eyes and “T” zone area only by a shade or two with flatter your face.

2. Bare in mind the direction of the light you will be in, especially if it’s side lit as it can cast shadows on the face so if you have a side parting – it’s more flattering on the face if it’s got less hair on that side.

3. Taking photos from slightly higher is more flattering on the face.

4. Don’t fake a smile – you can tell when it’s faked! – real smiles make your eyes sparkle.

5. It is more flattering on the arms if they are softly placed sometimes with a soft bend and not squashed to the sides of your body.

And the brilliant Kelvin Barron – red carpet and fashion stylist extraordinaire, gave me these gems to share with you all:

image-hello

1. For the best results in pictures it’s firstly important that you look after your skin which will lead to a healthy glow. It doesn’t have to be hundreds of pounds investing on expensive treatments, you can buy products such as ‘Simple’ which are great for cleansing, toning and moisturising. For a little treat I advise Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream.

2. Feel good in not only your clothes, but by being yourself. Confidence will transcend into amazing imagery and also help your posture. You will generally have better poise when your feeling amazing, rolling the shoulders back is key to avoid looking slouched. Be proud of the skin your in.

3. Draw attention to your unique features and your strong points rather that worry about the areas you don’t like. Whether you want to show off some killer cleavage (always tasteful), you have amazing legs or maybe even a facial feature like a beauty spot – embrace beauty, femininity and what makes you – you!

4. Match your mood and your facial expressions to your clothes. I love working with actresses as they can play more of a role in pictures. So if your wearing an outfit that’s a little sexy – you can play a little more moody, pouty and vampy. It’s all about playing a character in the clothes your in. Actresses like Blake Lively, Emma Stone and Nicola Peltz are my red carpet pros for this and artists like Rihanna really know when to play and vamp it up.

I will have more expert secrets next week – and I will share a few of mine too!

Until then,

Lots of love
