Prepping and packing for Our Girl!
Happy Thursday to you all!
I have officially left the UK to start filming for the next Our Girl series, it’s been such a busy week or so in the build up to leaving, so I will back track slightly to when I started prepping for filming.
So, last week in order to get back into my role for Our Girl 3 I went to boot camp for research and to back into the head space of Georgie Lane.
I have been at Sandhurst training and Aldershot – and did a refresher training course with Tercel – a huge thanks to Nigel, Roger and Rob for all your fantastic training!
Also special thanks to Roma who I learned so much from – she is an Army nurse and I did a lot of the training this week with her.
Tercel Medical provides courses and consultancy services lots of different organisations ranging from Medical Trusts and Emergency Services to TV production companies – such as Our Girl!
The company provide the technical advice and training for Our Girl, they help researchers, and also gave the cast the refresher training for this next run.
We did drills, how to patrol, how to hold a weapon system… all sorts!
I’m in the corridor at Sandhurst in this picture and that is a nurse behind me in the picture.
I’m wearing Zara jeans, Lipsy t shirt that says ‘Lit’ on it and a old jacket with pearl buttons (I can’t remember where I got it from – sorry!)
If you are in the army you really do learn to work as a team and because most of the boys are back from last year, we have already established that bond so when we all met up for the training it was great and like we had never been apart!
Here we all are at the read through. The scripts and story for the next series is fantastic, we were all buzzing afterwards.
Packing is always a bug bear for me. I hate realising I have left things behind that I need so gone are the days of throwing a few random bits into a case last minute, I try and take my time a bit more and put some thought into it.
Must have products and pieces for my trip.
This Origins shower activated body scrub is great for a long day’s filming.
I use it every night, and love the fact that it gets very warm on contact with skin and water, I use a soft exfoliating mit to give my body a good scrub over and it leaves my skin feeling very clean and fresh.
The Neom Organics ‘ Perfect Nights Sleep bubble bath foam is jam packed full of Lavender, Sweet Basil and Jasmine. The smell is divine and really chills me out too.
I also rate this foaming cleanser by Origins – I don’t really like changing products too much when I am abroad because even the change in climate can have an effect on your skin. I have used this for years now, and it suits the skin on my face.
One of my other favourite products I have to take with me is the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. In fact I have packed two pots!
Not only is this a kick ass moisturiser it is also a great primer it smooths out your skin and leaves it supple and ready for make-up application which means it goes on better and stays on longer.
I also find this one to be very gentle on your skin and it leaves my face glowing (without feeling greasy).
I only use a large pea size amount per application as this is all you need for a days moisturising or priming.
I also love these micro peel pads from Philosophy.
They come in handy sachets so great for traveling about, and they brighten and refine pores by dissolving dull skin leaving it fresh and smooth you can use them on your face, neck, decolletage and hands.
I will do this around once a week, especially if I have been in the sun a lot or wearing a lot of make-up.
Hair treatment this is my favourite it is Olaplex and I use it once a week. I swear by Olaplex and think it’s helped save my hair since all the bleach. It leaves my hair shiny soft and strong.
To chill out after a long days filming I also got gorgeous smelling miniature candles from Sandy Bay London – my favourite scents are Persian Rose and White Tea Lily and Wisteria.
I will also take my fave anklet – its a handmade freshwater pearl one from Pearlescence.co.uk
I have had it for a few years now and love to wear it if i am fortunate to have some down time on a beach or a pool (not that I think I will have much time off but you never know!)
For my leaving drinks I decided to gather up some of my Essex friends and family, and head to our fave spot – Sheesh in Chigwell. http://sheeshrestaurant.co.uk/
Here I am with the girlies!
We all had a ball, lots of cocktails and delicious food as always.
My printed floral jumpsuit is from Lipsy – perfect for Summer!
I can’t believe I will be away for a whole 3 months. Fortunately I will be back for a bit to attend a couple of very important ‘dos’ in the Summer but then I will be off again for more filming with the series.
I will continue with writing my blog but it won’t be as frequent, probably around once every month.
Mainly because I won’t have much to write about in the world of fashion and beauty, because I will be in army camo gear most days, hair tied back in plaits, and running about in sand dunes, forests or somewhere like that!
Bye for now!
Lots of love
