Mother’s Day treats in Manchester and meetings in London
I will start this week’s blog with a trip to the cinema, but this was not your regular cinema!
I finally got to watch Beauty And The Beast.
Mark and I went to Canary Wharf to the Everyman Cinema – which was SO good.
The seats are big couches and you can sit in comfort and eat pizza, chips, nachos or if you are thirsty – there’s a cocktail menu! Such a good idea.
Whenever I go to the cinema, I take my bed socks to wear while I’m engrossed in the film – it’s just a thing I do, and this date night was no exception. I’m such a geek, pahahaha!
A couple of days after this I drove up to Manchester and stayed with my family for a couple of days.
My best friend Beckie has now started shopping for her wedding dress (exciting!) and I went along with Robyn and Rachel the other bridesmaids, to offer advice and of course – to drink the free champagne that you are offered in the boutiques (What? It’s part of my bridesmaid duties ha!)
Beckie had the dresses whittled down to two choices, and she couldn’t pick between them – the first shop we went into – the dress was beautiful. I am sworn to secrecy on both dresses so I can’t even tell you about the one she didn’t pick!
The second dress she tried on was AMAZING, and the one we all picked in unison for her.
This was our reaction as she came out of the changing room – I asked the assistant to take our picture for her to keep for ever in a memory box.
Can’t wait till the big day next year!
I was a bit stuck as to what to do this Mother’s Day, so I contacted The Malmaison Hotel in Manchester @manchestermal and arranged for my mum Jackie and my two aunties Susan and Sammi and their daughters (my cousins) Gemma and Lauren to enjoy an afternoon of treats.
Our mums are always looking after other people, so for once, it’s nice to just sit down and get pampered for a change.
It’s very rare for all my aunties and cousins to come together, and sadly we were missing my other cousin Katie who was working in London and couldn’t get back for the Sunday, so her mum (my Aunty Debbie) went down there to see her.
On arrival we were greeted into The Mal Spa. The mums all enjoyed a glass of chilled Prosecco and enjoyed a relaxing hand treatment, luxury manicure and had gel nails put on…
My mum also had her feet done as an extra treat :-)
While they were getting their nails done, I was getting stuck into the chocolate covered strawberries!
After our spa visit, we went to a private room in the main part of the hotel where we were served a seriously cute, and tasty afternoon tea.
The food was delicious and all dainty finger food such as salmon and chicken wraps, mini burgers, scones, strawberry milkshakes, pannacottas and melt in your mouth chocolate brownies.
We all sat there drinking our English breakfast tea (some of the party carried on with the prosecco of course!) and at around 4pm my brother Andrew arrived and joined in the fun (and got all of the attention ha!)
Thanks Manchester Mal for making Mothers Day so memorable for us!
For Mother’s Day I kept my look very casual with my Zara jeans which are slightly flared around the bottom, Balenciaga trainers and a T Shirt also from Zara which said “I Do It For My Mama” which was a pretty appropriate slogan to wear, given the day! https://www.zara.com/
I left Manchester the following day and drove down to Essex because I had meetings in London on the Monday and Tuesday – the main one was with Lipsy, it was a fitting meeting for my next collection with them, and I am also going away with them on a shoot next week which of course, I will tell you all about in the next blog!
For my meeting I wore this floral jumpsuit from my current collection which you can buy online and in store now and teamed it with some flats so that I could scoot about the city in comfort and kept the look quite casual. https://www.lipsy.co.uk/store/michelle-keegan for more info!
The shoot next week is for my main Summer collection which will drop in July.
The trends that will be influencing my next collection are ruffles (yes they will still be big over the Summer), flute sleeving (which is very flattering too), lots of delicate lace, and a more tropical colour palette (rich blues and greens) to compliment the summer months and lots of white pieces too.
I have also included some light maxi wrap coats which will be perfect as we go into Autumn.
This piccy was taken in between meetings in London at the very pretty Rosewood Hotel.
My new Jacket is from Zara and the polo neck is also Zara – have you seen some of the new collection in at the moment? So many lovely pieces. I love all the nude and black ballet inspired range – puffa jackets and ribbon leggins and over knee boots. I’m not sure it would suit me though, this is a look that my friend Brooke Vincent would nail though!
Products of the week
Kevin Murphy Angel Rinse https://www.kevinmurphystore.com
This has made a big difference to my hair, it’s easier to manage and it dries very shiny and looks so healthy.
Kiehls Crem De Corps body butter http://www.kiehls.co.uk
My skin is still quite dry after my trip to Oman so I have been using this Kiehls body cream for the past week or so.
The body butter feels quite oily to touch when you first apply on your skin, however once it’s absorbed my skin feels soft and smooth.
I also have put this in a plastic bag to stop it leaking in my drawer, as it’s quite gloopy, but it’s well worth getting if you have dry skin or as an alternative to after sun.
My fragrance of the week
L’Occitane Neroli and Orchidee Eau De Toilette http://uk.loccitane.com/
Really floral and pretty perfume, it’s very light and perfect for day. A few people have asked me what I am wearing, so it must be good if others are noticing it, and unlike some day perfumes it lasts on your skin for ages.
Until next week.
All my love,
