Trip to Florida, latest beauty must haves and hair treats
So, as you may or may know, last week I flew out to Miami to join Mark, as he was working out there.
I had a shoot before I went out to the States – here is a sneaky BTS picture:
Loved my makeup on this shoot…!
Anyway – back to sunny Miami! Check out this beach! What an amazing view from our hotel, eh?
While Mark was working I hit the shops… HARD! One of the big trends in the shops was neck chokers…
They were plentiful. Sexy ones, boho ones, ornate ones velvet ones chokers with precious stones, slogan chokers… the lot! The main trend in Miami was dainty, feminine and boho style chokers.
I treated myself to an Opal stone choker necklace
And this Daisy fabric choker which looks much better on than it does in this packet and would suit a day or night outfit. I needed one that wasn’t black as most of my chokers black home are.
I also stocked up on some new slogan T shirts. They look great in the gym, or on the beach with a pair of denim shorts, or a pair of jeans and a leather jacket!
These are the ones I bought, so no doubt you will see pictures of me in them in this blog very soon.
This is my sale bargain of the week! An oversized grey long blazer in the airport from Zara.
Some people like to chill, eat and have a snooze in an airport departures lounge. Not me! I go on the hunt for deals and this was only about £30!
I was walking around South Beach and saw this house with lots of people mulling around it – it was Versace’s house – isn’t it elegant? It’s now a hotel.
A few days into our stay, I really wanted to go to Orlando to the theme parks so Mark spoke to some of his contacts over there and we travelled up by car which is about the distance from Manchester to London. We stayed in a fantastic hotel called Loews Sapphire Falls resort hotel – https://www.loewshotels.com/sapphire-falls-resort
It’s on the Universal site and is pretty new. The rooms are lovely and there is a big pool too but we were too busy exploring Universal Studios and Universal Islands of Adventure to sunbathe.
For more info on Universal go to https://www.universalorlando.co.uk/
We went on the Despicable Me rides, Harry Potter and The Hulk rides too. So much fun!
We did enjoy dinner in the one of the hotel’s restaurants, called CowFish – which was very impressive. It’s called Cowfish because they serve Burgers and Sushi, so the best of both worlds…
Look at this delicious sushi.
We also went to Disney – Had to really as we were in Orlando! We went to the Magic Kingdom, and saw lots of the characters and of course the Disney Castle, and then hotfooted it to The Hollywood Studios and went on the Tower of Terror (I LOVED THIS RIDE!) and the Rock and Roller Coaster which was great fun too.
I love a good highlighter. So for catching the light on your face and creating a subtle or more of a statement glow, I rate the following brands:
I think I have mentioned this brands highlighter before but they make some of the best on the market – Illamasqua – the sheen of the OMG highlighter catches the light perfectly and I use it on the tops of the cheekbones. It’s a powder but I also wet my brush and use it as a metallic eyeshadow for a more dramatic evening look .
Another highlighter I use is part of a palette and it’s great for a much more subtle day look
It’s the highlighter in the Clarins Face Contour Palette
Buff the radiance boosting highlighter onto the cheekbone with the wide angled brush for a healthy looking glow.
Benefit’s Watts Up is another must have – this one is in a solid cream stick – I take it on holidays as powdered highlighter can clog on your face if it’s hot, or you have sun factor on sometimes.
This is also a good product for adding highlighter under your eyebrow arch as it blends SO easily and stays put. https://www.benefitcosmetics.com/uk/en-gb/product/watts-up-cream-highlighter
I also rate Estee Lauder flash Illuminator which is a golden-peachy shade for the perfect glow. They only do it in one colour but that colour is flattering for all skin tones. http://www.esteelauder.co.uk/product/631/41150/product-catalog/makeup/flash-illuminator/fluid-powder.
Finally I must mention MAC! They do an array of highlighters, liquid , cream , powder – subtle sheen and full on metallic slicks! I love this one ‘Extra Dimension Skinfinish’ http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/13849/21865/products/makeup/face/powder/extra-dimension-skinfinish#/shade/DoubleGleam my fave colour is ‘Double Gleam’ and this is a full on night-time luminous glow.
My hair has also had some love this week thanks to my hairdresser Charley Mcewen at Four Salon in Mayfair. http://www.fourlondon.com
I got a special Olaplex intensive treatment on my hair because it was feeling a bit dry on the ends and a deep brunette colour vegetable dye to get some richness back into my hair! Thanks Charley!
So I am now back from the states and we have been celebrating Marks 30th!
Then on Sunday I have a dress fitting with Kelvin my stylist for the National Television Awards on Wednesday.
I always enjoy this awards, and this year I have been asked to present an award which is a huge privilege!
I don’t know what I will be wearing yet – yes typical me a bit last minute! But I will take lots of pictures from the fitting and post them in the next blog for you all.
I am back up in Manchester soon too to celebrate another of my good friends Roisin’s – 30th birthday. Looking forward to seeing all my ladies soon!
Thank you to each and every one of you who tweeted me about Tina and Bobby.
I have been so overwhelmed with the response and feedback from you all. I won’t lie, I was very nervous in the days leading up to the TX, because it was a challenging role, I’m very happy that the feedback I have had has been positive.
Anyway I must dash as I have lots of unpacking and washing that needs doing, and I have the small matter of a surprise birthday party to organise for a certain someone :-)
More next week!
All my love
