Christmas week with family and friends…
Happy new year! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones.
I will need to back track slightly to just before Christmas and I will start with my friend Beckie’s birthday… Our group of girls had already gone out earlier in the month to Menagerie, but this was more of a family and close friends event.
We went to a lovely restaurant in Worsley (in Salford) for a meal, her fiancé Sam had arranged it all.
We had a great night, she looked beautiful – I loved her dress, it was from Missguided. It was good to catch up with all my friends before Christmas.
Check out the creation I had made – it’s from my favourite cake place in Manchester, Zara Cakes, seriously impressive and Zara’s cakes always taste delish!
I wore this cute two piece of a long skirt and crop top from my Lipsy London collection.
I’m also totally made up because Beckie has asked me to be her bridesmaid. She was my maid of honour, so I am more than delighted to return the gesture for her big day. They won’t be getting wed for a couple of years, but we will start planning soon and I am so excited for her and Sam, they are a wonderful couple.
Between Christmas and the new year I have been dividing my time between Manchester and Essex. We had a get together at my Auntie’s in Manchester one night with my mum, her sisters and all the cousins. We played lots of games and had a buffet table where I ate SO much food, and then a couple of days later I went to my dad’s for his fab Christmas party.
There was a lot of karaoke involved at this party which was hilarious as the night went on. We all enjoyed a festive tipple too, I can’t lie. I had enjoyed quite a few that night!
I also had my annual Christmas dinner with the girls. We have been doing this for years now, where one of us takes it in turns to host us all and we all cook and bring something along to eat. This year it was the turn of Liz to host. Thanks Liz!
We always do a secret Santa and play loads of daft games. I love this tradition of ours, it really sets the mood for Christmas.
Then Mark and I went back to Essex in the car, and amused ourselves singing along to a Christmas pop songs CD in the car and enjoyed a couple of pit stops for pumpkin spiced lattes at Starbucks.
After we got home, the following day which was the 23rd of December, Mark and I enjoyed a day out on our own in the capital. We visited the wonderful and very Christmassy Harrods and enjoyed our annual treat there of champagne and oysters. I did some last minute shopping and then was all set for the big day.
On Christmas eve I picked up some new doggy beds , for Pip , Dougie and Phoebe, now I dont really know how they knew this , as I wasnt aware that dogs can read, but all three of them sat on the correct beds! Seriously! I couldn’t believe it. So cute! Thanks to the talented @uniquedogbeds.
Aside from taking loads of pictures of the dogs on their new beds I wrapped more presents, cooked some homemade cookies then ate all of them and then some. All in all a very relaxed day.
On Christmas morning we both woke up pretty early and opened our presents and had a cheeky bucks fizz with our breakfast. Mark and I then visited Mark’s family, and we all opened more gifts there. My mum and step dad were staying with us, so instead of cooking at mine, there were too many of us so we all went out and enjoyed dinner at a place in Essex.
I was a bit over turkey by this point, having eaten it 4 or 5 times already, so I had the veggie option which was very tasty indeed.
Also on the day, Mark dressed up as Santa to give some presents out to some of his friends’ children and they absolutely loved this!
The funniest bit was when he had stuffed a bin liner to make a round stomach, and put it up his top but it kept falling out of the bottom of his costume! I couldn’t stop laughing.
On Christmas day I decided to wear my Stuart Weitzman boots and the duster grey jacket is from my Lipsy London collection. The bag I have here is a gorgeous one from YSL and the dress is old, I got it like two years ago from a boutique shop and totally forgot about it, but I found it in the back of my wardrobe the other week and wondered why I had never worn it before!
I curled my hair for Christmas day by basically going to sleep with damp hair in a bun – so when I wake up in the morning it’s got waves in it as its pretty curly naturally anyway. I then went over the waves with this Babyliss wand and used the Windle and Moodie Oceanic spray which is like a salt spray,
and also their ‘Matte Texture’ spray to add some oomph and hold the curls all day.
I have also been wearing this a lot – my off the shoulder jumper from my new Lipsy London collection which arrived into stores and online a few days before Christmas.
It’s a versatile jumper as I can wear it with jeans for every day or dress it up with a skirt and boots.
This has been a bit of a saviour over the festive period with all my late nights and cocktails, as it banishes dark circles! Thank you Revlon Insta Fix!
I put my foundation on first then this goes on afterwards. It’s a few shades lighter than my foundation and I have to blend it in well but once blended, the dark rings are no more! It also stays on all day, you don’t need to keepre applying… the best bit – its only £9.99! BARGAIN!
Anyway I need to sign off for now, happy new year to you all and let’s all have a wonderful and healthy 2017.
