ITV Gala, meetings in London and make-up must haves…
Everyone started with their advent calendars? Not long now till it’s Christmas!!!!!!
So I will kick off this blog by starting with a trip to London for a meeting.
I wore my polka dot dress from Zara, teamed it with my favourite Stuart Weitzman boots, my new and rather fabulous YSL bag from Rodeo Drive in LA, and a Freedom from Topshop choker.
I finished off this look with a shirt/jacket (is that called a shacket?) from Zara which I love for all the pretty embroidery on it.
OK it’s not the most warm of outer garments for winter, but I spent most of the day either indoors or in cabs or on the tube so it wasn’t so bad.
After my day of meetings, I drove up to Manchester to do our annual pilgrimage to Bents Garden Centre which is about 30 mins from my home and we do this EVERY YEAR. I’m sure I have told you about this place before. I love it! I picked up some beautiful new Christmas decorations and we stopped off to have some tea there too.
I have been going to Bents with my mum around Christmas time since I was a little girl and we used to visit Santa’s Grotto. Unfortunately I’m a bit too old for this now – at 29 pahahaah!
But we still love taking our time round all the stunning displays, buying keepsakes, gossiping to each other, and we always treat ourselves to scones and cake.
Also this last week, I had the ITV Gala to get ready for and attend. It was held at the Palladium in London.
Normally for an occasion like this I would wear an evening or cocktail dress, however I wanted to switch it up so as I am really into wearing suits at the moment, I figured this would be the perfect occasion to do just that!
I was researching various fashion websites and magazines and womenin suits is and will continue to be big over winter and through to spring.
I decided to wear a suit by the designer called Joshua Kane, who makes bespoke and beautifully tailored suits. I liked the hound-tooth monochrome look as I have done black suits a few times on a red carpet over the years, Joshua made the suit for me – I was so lucky – I really liked the way the trousers were made a bit shorter so that they grazed my ankles. This was done to elongate my legs (it works ladies).
The jacket was short and fitted which made it feminine, and my stylist Kelvin and I teamed this with a Marks & Spencer’s jumper and a pair of their metallic courts to give it a bit of ‘shine’.
The bag my stylist sourced was pretty funky! It’s by Urania Gazelli – their website is www.uraniagazelli.com. The brand make really quirky clutch bags. I love this idea of a super funky bag to go with a simple or block coloured outfit. It can finish your outfit off perfectly not to mention all the people asking about it.
It was really good to catch up with some of my ITV friends such as Leigh Francis (Keith Lemon) and Paddy McGuinness. I was actually sat next to Anna Friel, but I was way too nervous to ask for a selfie with her because I am and always have been a huge admirer of her work. She is absolutely beautiful too.
I took my cousin Katie as my plus one as she works for ITV on entertainment shows – currently she’s working as a runner on ITV1’s Take Me Out, so I thought she would enjoy the night and it was a good opportunity for us both to catch up with each other too.
After the gala we enjoyed a few drinks and canapes in Aqua Bar which is just across the road.
A lot of people have tweeted me asking about my make-up for the night.
I wore the sheer illuminating Nars foundation. It’s seriously good. It’s a light and natural foundation, and even with camera flashes it doesn’t make your skin look greasy.
I wore this over some Estee Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer which I love – you get no shine AT ALL with this fantastic primer and it gives a very smooth finish.
I also used the Estee Lauder New Dimension Shape and Sculpt face contouring kit. I like this because it’s a cream and not powder and with proper blending you can achieve a really subtle and professional result.
Blend ladies… Blend!
For extra contouring on top of the cream kit, I used my Benefit Hoola Bronzer, because it is matte and the perfect colour tone for adding shadow.
These Benefit products are fab at night time highlighting too. The ‘Watts Up’ is not really a day highlighter as it’s very shimmery. But I love it for night time glow and sparkle, and because it’s a cream stick it stays on all night.
The ‘highbrow’ pencil is perfect for underneath your brow arch or for just a teeny bit of luminous shimmer above your cupid’s bow.

My favourite clothing item of the week has GOT to be this green parka with the bright blue fake fur trim hood which is from my new Lipsy collection.
I have been wearing it all week because it is so comfortable (and yes, because it is COLLLLLLDDDDDDD!) I have had a lot of people compliment me on this parka – I think it’s one to buy and keep using all year round.
I have been working on a radio play this week up in Manchester. The play is for the BBC and I have been recording it over in Media city. It is my first radio play and I have surprised myself at how much I have been enjoying it.
Also it was one of my best friend’s 30th’s this week – she was my maid of honour at my wedding – Beckie Hatch – and our girl group all went to the fantastic Menagerie Bar in Manchester.
I haven’t been out in Manchester for a while with the girlies but we had an absolute BALL!
Here is a sneaky picture …
I will give you all the low down from our party night in the next blog!
Until next week.
All my love,
