My Lipsy winter launch and Ruby’s 3rd birthday
So last week it was little Ruby’s 3rd birthday. She is my best friend Robyn’s daughter.
It was the first time I had seen all my girlfriends together in a long time. I went up to Manchester, it was an extra special day spent catching up, laughing and celebrating.
The theme of the party was ‘My Little Pony’ and I was in charge of the cake.
This was a task I relished. I gave @Zaracakes a spec and boy did she deliver! Just look at this beaut!
It was actually too pretty to eat, we all just stared and admired it for a short while, before tucking in. And yes, it tasted as good as it looked. It was a rainbow cake. Ruby was over the moon with it and loved the beads and the rainbows on it (and the my little ponies too of course!)
After my brief stay in Manny, I headed back to London to unveil my new winter collection for Lipsy London.
We started the day with a visit to Lipsy headquarters in London and I did some interviews with a variety of very cool fashion bloggers.
This blogger is called Jade, she was lovely. We spoke about the range just out, what to expect for my Christmas collection, my inspiration behind the pieces and my thoughts on fashion and current trends.
So, to give you a taster of the Christmas collection which will be out end of October – there will be lots of snugly wrap coats, fake fur, lots of glam lace dresses, high and polo necks are still very on trend, choker dresses (which I love) and rich colours such as plum and forest green. My key piece – which I can’t show you yet ( but I can tease up for you all in this column) is a gold embroidered body con midi strapless dress.
I love it because it looks really expensive on, is a real winter party dress, and when I first saw it finished I thought it looked very Versace. It will suit black and gold strappy shoes. Can’t wait to wear this one out!
For all the press and blogger interviews during the day, I figured it would be easier to wear my hair up. It looks neat in a pony and stops me playing with it and for my makeup we went quite light during the day but with a generous sweep of highlighter.
I love a bit if highlighter anyway but my make-up artist Krystal applied it on my temples, nose, and under my brow arch. This one is by Anastasia Beverly Hills and I see it in every make-up artists’ kit. It’s SO good, you get 4 shades, all rich in pigment catch the light perfectly. It’s not the cheapest highlighter palette out there but I think this is one to ask for, for Christmas. Get it on your list ladies!
I wore Lash Magnifique lashes and Nars Illuminating foundation which I have to say is a seriously good foundation. Light but covers like a dream and gives a radiant and very smooth finish. The nude lip stick I wore is called ‘Sexy Pink’ by Tom Ford.
After the first round of chats at Lipsy HQ I went to the Mayfair Hotel to change and attend more interviews. For this I wore the burgundy cocktail dress.
I think this dress works as a classic day to night piece. You could wear it for work during the day then a date or drinks with the girls in the evening if you change the shoes, add earrings and different outerwear.
I change my lippy to a more chocolatey colour for this look and swapped the false lashes to the Backstage Chelsea lashes which are more glam for the evening because they were thicker and flicked out at the ends. Krystal also went a bit heavier on my eye and added black eyeliner too to suit the lashes.
Then it was time for my big party at Nobu in Mayfair London.
I changed again into the black lace crop top and high waisted black trousers. I was going to wear the matching suit jacket too (which nips you in nicely at the waist!) but it was such a warm night I changed my mind last min and left it at the hotel. I love this look, as Lipsy are best known for their glam dresses but my collection is very much about what I love to wear and this is very ‘me’.
I wore my hair down to contrast the suit trousers and keep the look quite feminine. My hairdresser Hannah Weisman gave my hair a soft wave, but we kept it pretty natural and not too set.
I was stoked to have my launch in Nobu. It’s one of my favourite restaurants so to have the event there was very special.
When I walked into the room there was a huge MK lit up which I loved! Everyone was getting pictures by it and it set the scene perfectly.
The guests were enjoying classic Mojitos, bone dry Savignon wine, Prosecco and Lychee Martinis (my fave – I had quite a few of these!) The finger food was so good. I mean, it was Nobu so how could it not be? The food was Sushi, Aubergine fritters and rice cubes with beef and tuna tartare.
Two of the big guests of the night was a model from America called Jasmine Saunders – her Instagram name is Golden Barbie. She was lovely, and Kate Moss’s sister – Lottie Moss. Both are beautiful and I had pictures with them – Thanks so much for coming ladies! Hope you had a good night.
Louise and Rosie from Made in Chelsea were also two VIP’s on the night, and they came wearing pieces from my current collection. They both looked gorgeous!
Inside the party we had a Polaroid photo booth with fancy dress, which went down a treat. Everyone had some piccies done as a souvenir of the night.
I even had my own SNAPCHAT filter! How cool is that!
It was a long but wonderful and memorable day. Hope you all love the collection as much as I do – www.lipsylondon.co.uk
So now to my favourite products of the week…
Firstly this Ojon hair mask! It’s £13.50 and called Ojon Damage Reverse Mask, and I think it does what it claims.
I slather my hair in it twice a week and sometimes wrap in a bag and towel and sleep in it. Not the most glam of things to do but it’s worth it if you want healthy and luscious locks! When you wash your hair the following morning it’s silky smooth, feels much more moisturised. This mask really does help.
I’m still paying my hair lots of attention following the spell as a blonde for my role as Tina in the upcoming Tina and Bobby drama for ITV1.
I have been sent all these goodies from Urban Veda and am starting to try them out. They have sent me a day cream, night cream , body wash, lotion, and a scrub. I will be reviewing these products soon.
I’m also going to try out these new powdered face masks by Origins. You add water to them, mix them up and then let the wonder potions do their work. These sound perfect for a girls night in as opposed to a quick fix, I shall let you know how I get on with them – http://www.origins.co.uk/new.
This week I have been filming for Stand Up To Cancer – it’s a special edition of the classic show: The Crystal Maze! I can’t say anything else about it yet other than it will be on TV soon… once I can let you know more I will :-)
And next week I have more fashion trend meeting at Lipsy to start forward planning for next Spring and Summer. I always look forward to these, they are very insightful and I love finding out what the big trends will be for the following year. Don’t worry, I shall report back!
I’m also heading back up to Manchester to see my friends and family for a couple of days which is always nice.
So, until next week.
Lots of love,
