A trip to UAE, catching up with dear friends and my holiday essentials
Hi everyone, are you all looking forward to Halloweeeeen?
Sorry I haven’t written anything for a couple of weeks, but I have been away on holiday!
Yes, Mark and I have been over in Oman and Dubai, having some much needed rest and relaxation, catching up with friends and taking full advantage of the glorious weather in the UAE.
So, firstly I will tell you about Oman.
One of my old school friends – Hayley, lives out there as a primary school teacher.
Hayley is engaged to a lovely guy called Dan and they are due to tie the knot in March 2017 (hurray!)
I see her when she visits England, and we have met up in Dubai a few times over the years, but this has been the first time I have visited her.
I have been meaning to go and see her for yonks, but haven’t been able to get over, but I knew this time of year wouldn’t be as busy for me, so I seized the opportunity and booked flights.
Instead of doing what most people do and calling ahead and making plans, I decided to surprise her!
Dan was in on the surprise, and arranged everything.
So little did Hayley know that while she was making a brew in her apartment in Oman , I was going through passport control with Mark. Dan said to Hayley he was nipping out – he went to pick Mark and I up.
We got to hers, Dan walked in the door , and we walked in after him . I had a bunch of flowers, and she was sat on the couch , said hell to him , and just looked at me and didn’t say anything for a few seconds, she was in total shock, I don’t think her brain could process why I was just stood there in her living room !
Then she just screamed … a lot ha ha …
I kind of wanted to pay her back for surprising me when she flew home from Oman for a weekend – to give me a massive shock at my Corrie leaving party when she appeared from behind a mask of my face at the end of the speeches.
So after the initial shock subsided, We had THE BEST few days together! Dan arranged for us all to go quad biking and jeep driving in the desert one day, and we enjoyed a night on one of Dan’s friends yachts which was amazing, even better was that we ordered a massive Nandos meal to eat on the boat ha!
We also went out on a boat another day and enjoyed snorkelling. The water is so clear and the scenery is really something. We saw turtles and loads of different fish as we swam around in the sea.
One evening Dan and Mark went for a few drinks, so Hayley and I had a girly gossip, some shisha and just really enjoyed each others company.
Then after our break in Oman we said our goodbyes to Hayley and Dan :-( and made the short trip to Dubai. We stayed in a super luxurious hotel and had such a memorable and relaxed week together.
Looking back at my pictures, I didn’t realize how many pictures of food I had taken. I realise now it was a lot. Ah well, you are allowed to indulge when you are on your jollies!
ok, last one !!!
Here is a selection of my favourite holiday outfits.
I think I prefer to dress really floaty and feminine on holiday. I don’t like glamming up too much and wearing loads of makeup and jewellery, and for me I am most comfortable in flip flops or wedges. I would never wear big heels round the pool.
This crochet mini Black dress is Rare London, and I wore it out to dinner one evening with black strappy sandals from Zara.
And the long pastel yellow one with crochet mesh is also from Rare London. I really liked this dress, and got a lot of compliments on it it was perfect for the warm weather too.
The bag I have with this yellow dress is YSL . Its super cute and the neutral colour means it goes with most outfits.
The black hat here in this picture of me walking back from the pool is from Mango.
The long white kaftan with the hat is from Zara and I take it on every trip I go on now as its so pretty and comfy.
These khaki trousers Missguided, and the burgundy vest body top is TopShop.
The bikini I am wearing is Victoria Secret. I love this bikini as it fits really well and the pattern stands out.
The skirt type kaftan is by Bikini Reef – I love these kaftans and much prefer wearing one as I go walking around on holiday. It’s a stylish thing to wear and doesn’t make me feel quite so exposed.
This anklet is Orelia it is a concession sold in TopShop and I think its so pretty. Orelia also do delicate necklaces rings and hair accessories and they are very affordable with their friendship bracelets retailing for around £18. For more info go to www.orelia.co.uk
This soft leather pastel peach clutch is from TopShop and I think I used this bag more than any other on this trip because it went with everything, and it is big enough to fit everything I need to carry around with me.
And finally these cute lil shoe boots by Crisain London were just the ticket when we decided to go clubbing one night.
This new perfume Soleil Blanc by Tom Ford is just divine.
It is a light and fresh fragrance, I think it smells a bit of coconuts which reminds me of holidays so it suited the trip very well. I will be wearing this perfume back in the UK too to remind me of my trip, plus it doesn’t fade quickly like a lot of perfumes tend to do.
I wear I high sun factor whenever I go away and wore factor 30 on my face and lips.
I was putting this Piz Buin lipstick on my lips.
And I wore Lancaster Fresh Milk 10 for my body. However if I feel as though I am getting too warm, I slap the 30 on my chest or shoulders or just sit in the shade.
I also wear a hat too, not just when I am lazying by the pool, I tend to wear one as I am walking around or even swimming, as the suns rays can go through water.
I always a night cream and this one by Rodial is really good. I have been very impressed with this one during the trip.
Every night I have put on after sun then a thick later of this night cream to rehydrate my face. My skin felt tight and well moisturized in the morning, I think it’s well worth its £70 price tag as you only need a thumbnail size blob for your whole face.
This has been my first proper trip in the sun since going back to brunette after the blonde, but I am very aware that I need to look after it still so I have been spraying on my Daily Damage Defence every day and I took this Redken Anti Snap Shampoo with me, which my hairdresser said would do wonders for my hair.
So, all in all it has been a wonderful break, but now I am back in England, and looking forward to the Christmas countdown, oh and its back to the gym as well!
Until next week,
All my love
