My Winter Lipsy collection launch and dinner at Australasia
Last weekend I was back again in my wonderful hometown of Manchester, for my friend’s boyfriend’s 30th. I love coming back and seeing all my friends for these special occasions on our lives.
While Mark and I were in Manchester, we also took the opportunity to go to one of my fave restaurants Australasia, which is on Deansgate. I have been going for years and it will always be up there on my top ten restaurants!
They have amazing cocktails, the service is very good and the food is modern Australian with Indonesian and Japanese influences. YUM!
We had the goats cheese salad, blackened cod, a variety of fresh sushi and baby Aubergine… I wore my new green jumpsuit from WalG walg.co.uk and my LYDC grey bag.
With cut out paneling on the shoulders, it was perfect for a winter dinner date and we had a lovely evening.
Before we went out I used this amazing ‘skin brightening’ exfoliator by Kiehls to give my skin a bit of a boost as it was looking dull. I’ve been using it a couple of weeks now and I’m very impressed. It gets rid of dull old skin and leaves your face clean, smooth and glowing.
I wore my grey polo neck ribbed cami last week, and everyone asked where it was from, it’s actually from one of my older ranges at Lipsy and you can still purchase it on their website. I think it has a bit of a sporty look to it.
Talking of Lipsy, I had my Winter Collection launch this week in the elegant Rosewood Hotel in London.
The display of flowers they had commissioned a top florist was a really talking point, they were gorgeous and they were one of the first things you saw when you arrived for the launch. So many people were taking pictures of them!
Manchester based make-up artist Emily Clarkson, was on hand doing my hair and make-up, especially for the important occasion.
For the 1st half of the day we did my hair down and sleek, and make-up very natural, then for the evening we vamped up the makeup adding a smoky green/khaki colour to my eye and a thicker strip eyelash!
It was a long day, but a very productive one. I had back to back interviews discussing my new collection, then I did a meet and greet with some of the best fashion bloggers in the country, who were all great to meet and what to. Thanks ladies!
The collection itself is perfect for the party season with lace placement dresses and shirts that look great day or night.
We have given a nod to the 70’s style which is still a massive trend this season by using the colour camel, and frill lace. Plus we’ve vamped up the simple LBD by adding a bronzed/gold placed lace which instantly makes the dress look more special!
All the collection is out now in stores or online at Lipsy.co.uk
I asked Emily @emmyclarkson1 to give you all a ‘how to get the look’, as I had so many people comment how flawless my makeup was ( thanks- its down to her!) – here it is below:
“It’s really important the skin is prepped before make up so I always make sure the skin is full of moisture before applying foundation.
I used Charlotte Tilbury’s infamous ‘Magic Cream’ on Michelle to give the skin that radiant glow. I then primed the skin with Smashbox Spray Primer, which is free from oil, silicone and alcohol that really helps keep the make up in place all day.”
“I love to mix foundations and Michelle likes a dewy look with coverage where needed so for this look I mixed together Mac’s Face and Body Foundation with NarsSheer Glow which gives me that perfect balance.
“On the eyes we went for a natural day look with definition on the lashes. Remember,- it’s just as important to prime the eye lids to make sure the shadows stay in place all day, the smash box eye primer is one of my all time favourites for matting out the eyelid and intensifying shadows.
“Over this I used MAC’s pigment in ‘Naked’ and shadow in ‘texture’ applied in the crease to add definition to the socket. I then lined the lash line with Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner in Espresso Ink before adding half ‘Demi-Wispie’ lashes to the outer corner of the eye to create more of a feline eye shape- finished off with lashings of benefit mascara in Roller lash.
“Back in with the skin and I’ve recently discovered Amazing Cosmetics concealer, which is incredible. It gives you a flawless finish and great coverage without feeling too heavy on the skin and it photographs so beautifully. I applied this by tapping it in with my finger and buffing away with a Contour Cosmetics pro blender for a seamless finish.
“I highlighted with Benefits ‘Watts Up’ Highlighter and very lightly contoured with the Contour Cosmetics cream palette set with the Sleekcontour kit. It’s really important to set your cream products with powders to make sure the make up lasts all day. I wanted to add a small amount of blush to the cheeks but nothing too over powering; Charlotte Tilbury’s Ecstasy blusher was perfect for this.
“Finishing off the make up I lined Michelle’s Lips with ‘Stripdown’ liner and ‘Hug me’ Lipstick both from MAC. I then blotted this off with a tissue and re-applied again to make this long lasting. I then added a small amount of Charlotte Tilburys ‘Nude Kate’ to the very center of the lip to give the illusion of a slightly fuller pout.
“For Michelle’s hair, we went for a sleek and shiny look. I used the Cloud Nine irons and styled with the Pro Blo‘Volumize me’ finishing brush to add a small amount of volume to the crown. Lots of lovely compliments of Michelle’s shiny hair, she’s got really healthy hair naturally but I accentuated it using Osis’ shine serum for that sleek finish.”
Thanks Emily, loads of handy hints there for you all (and for me!) too!
Until next week,
Lots of love
