Kimberley Wyatt’s wedding and my shopping trip with Sinitta

Hi guys,

Well it looks like my wish for good weather for the wedding I went to last Friday came true…  I was so happy for the bride and groom.

It was a real honour to be invited to Kimberley Wyatt’s and Max Rogers wedding last Friday.  They are such a gorgeous couple and the wedding was just like a fairytale.  Kimberley looked sensational and when she walked into the room you could hear the guests gasp at how beautiful she looked.

The wedding invitation stated that ladies had to wear gowns so I was really excited to be able to wear a Stephanie Allin dress.  Stephanie designed my wedding dress and her designs are stunning.  I opted for the Buckingham, a fitted, black floor length dress with a detachable skirt.

My friend Steve from Nouveau Lash did my make-up using fresh minerals.  I went for a smokey eye look with a nude lip.

I’m sure you will see some photos soon of Max and Kim but in the meantime, here is a little snap of me and Alex and myself and Steve!

Last week I noticed that Rocco has starting to dribble lots and he wants to put everything in his mouth.  I think he is too young to be teething but I wondered if it’s the start of things and if he has sore gums?  I was lucky enough to receive a box from The Peakaboo Baby Company that had a lovely baby grow from petit bateau and also a teething version of Sophie the Giraffe which is great.  The box had a lovely message welcoming Rocco to the world which I thought was really sweet.  If you have any top teething tips or advice let me know as I would love to hear your stories.

On Wednesday Rocco and I had a little shopping treat with Sinitta and her two children.  We visited Childsplay in Ilford and I felt like a kid in a candy shop. Sinitta was looking for some bits for Simon Cowell’s new baby Eric and I couldn’t resist buying some cute little bits for my little man too!  The shop is gorgeous and the staff are so helpful.  They stock clothes for newborns and for children up to age 16 so I think I will be visiting them lots over the next few years!

Yesterday it was my mother and father in laws 40th wedding anniversary so we had a lovely family meal to celebrate.  What an achievement – 40 years of marriage! Rocco’s uncle Ben had a lovely cuddle with him so I thought I would share the photo.

I hope you all have a fab weekend.
Lots of love to you all!

The WAITING game…

Hi Guys,

So it appears that all the people around me who were due to have their babies AFTER me have all had them ALREADY!… Clearly my baby bump is happy to stay put.  I’m booked in to be induced to kick-start things. I’ve heard mixed reports about this but the majority of people I’ve spoken to have said its not the best experience.

When the hospital have to artificially break your waters there is a greater chance of infection and it is supposed to be more painful.  I’m starting to feel a little nervous that this huge bump has to come out, but I’m trying to focus on the fact that I just want to meet this new person Alex and I have created now.  How amazing does that sound?  I’m also trying to keep pretty busy because I don’t think sitting around just waiting for this little bundle of joy to arrive is going to do me any favours, although I should probably be making the most of it and be relaxing with my feet up. Instead I’m busy packing our house up in anticipation of our move.  There is nothing like being organised!

Something that is particularly starting to drive me crazy (and I don’t want to sound ungrateful for people caring) is the amount of people who keep asking me if there is any news and if the baby has arrived…IF and WHEN there is news of course I would tell people.  I feel like responding saying ‘Yes the baby arrived two weeks ago, I just didn’t want to tell you!’  Sorry for that little rant but if you’ve had a baby, hopefully you will know what I mean or if if you are expecting one, be warned!

As I said, I’m trying to keep busy so aside from packing up our house I have attended a few events; I attended the Hanro Spring/Summer press day which was lovely.  Hanro are a Swiss company I have previously blogged about who make luxury underwear and nightwear.  I picked up a lovely nightie for when I’m in hospital which has been put in my hospital bag.

On Wednesday evening I went to the Channel 4 Upfront party (that showcased everything that will be on screen in 2014).  It was extremely busy and very noisy, and probably not the best place for a 40-week pregnant lady to be, but nevertheless it was nice to glam up and I wore my gorgeous black lace dress from Seraphine’s LUXE collection.  I bumped in to Gok Wan and his agent Carol at the party.  Although Gok didn’t comment on my outfit, or my ‘bangers’ (as he puts it), his agent had a good feel of my bump and said ‘It’s a boy’!  I think I can now count on one hand the number of people who have said it’s a girl (it’s that few), and I really hope I don’t have too much longer to find out if all these people who have predicted ‘boy’ are right…

This week I was very lucky to get some really cosy bits from JAMI Clothing, and the items can be dressed up or down.  I was given a couple of pairs of yoga pants, a vest and a hooded top.  Not only are they great for feeling comfortable in now with bump, but they will also be brilliant after the baby has arrived.  Pregnant or not they are worth looking at!

Also this week I did something that I strongly recommend you DON’T do towards the end of your pregnancy – I weighed myself. BIG mistake.  I have put on just over 3 stone – eeeeekkkk.  I wouldn’t let Alex see what the scales said because I was soooo embarrassed and he told me not to be so silly.

I can’t say it made me feel good about myself, and it is actually the first time I have done it since falling pregnant. If you are tempted to do this I really wouldn’t bother!  Unless of course you need to monitor your weight because the hospital have told you to so.  I will be hitting the gym after the baby is born, so fingers crossed I bounce back.

If anyone else is in a similar position at the moment, waiting for a baby to arrive or even if you’ve been in this position in the past, I would love to for you to share your stories or experiences with me. How far past your due date did you go? Were you induced? How was it and how long did you wait for your bundle of joy to make an appearance?

Until next time… I could still be WAITING, WAITING, WAITING!

Lots of love,

Laura x

TOP TIP Don’t weigh yourself – unless the hospital have asked you to monitor your weight!

Celebrating Alex’s birthday where we announced our pregnancy 5 months ago…

Hi everyone!

Five months ago Alex and I officially announced our pregnancy in HELLO! magazine at one of our favourite places, the Four Seasons Hotel in Hook, Hampshire. It was fantastic to return there this past weekend to celebrate Alex’s birthday.

We really love the relaxed, yet outstanding, service of this place. It’s a beautiful country house where families and dogs are most welcome so the three of us, that’s Me, Alex and Alfie our little dog (well four if you include bump too), enjoyed a lovely weekend break that included eating amazing food, relaxing around the pool and taking Alfie for a few walks in the hotel’s beautiful grounds. They not only offer a babysitting service but they also offer a dog sitting service too, so we can’t wait to go back when the baby arrives.

Last week we completed our hypno-birthing sessions, which we’ve really enjoyed with Teresa Pegrum. I also discovered at my routine antenatal appointment that, although the baby is head down, it is actually in the Right Occiput Anterior position. This basically means that his/her back is towards the right side of my body, it therefore needs to rotate so the back is towards my front. My midwife informed me that if the baby stays where it is, or decides to turn towards my spine (known as back to back), it will be a longer and more painful labour – well that is something to look forward to indeed! In a bid to try and make the little one move, I have been introduced to a website called The website has suggestions of what I can do to try and make the baby move into the optimum position for labour. Crab walking up the stairs (walking sideways) and bouncing on a birthing ball are just two ideas on the site, so I am glad of my recent purchase – my birthing ball from Mama Baby Bliss! It’s certainly coming in handy now.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned my concerns about Alfie our little dog, and how he would react to the new arrival. I have since invested in a chair from Chicco (that is suitable from birth to 3 years), so I can be sure that the baby is out of reach from him. This little chair is called the ‘Polly Magic’ and I really love it. It has a nice little bar over it with some little toys to keep the baby occupied and I think it will give me piece of mind with the baby being off the floor. Talking of toys, this week I was also given a cute little bubbaroo as well as this little fellow (pictured below), ‘the drool monkey’ (from the online gift shop Cinnamon Sue). It reminds me of something I carried around as a child whilst I sucked my thumb that I called a ‘dah dah’. It’s an organic dribble bid, rattle and comforter all in one – a great idea.

I have also recently been introduced to who sell absolutely beautiful gifts for a newborn. Their unisex anklet bracelet with little bells are a wonderful keepsake that can be worn by the child as a bracelet in to the teenage years. I think they are gorgeous and worth a look if you know someone who is expecting and you want to buy them a special present to celebrate their new arrival.

In other news, we have started to pack up our house in preparation for our house move. Some people have said to me it’s ‘extreme nesting’. As I mentioned in last week’s post, we are purchasing a renovation project. We had an offer on our house within two weeks of putting it on the market and we are really impressed with our estate agents Park and Bailey. We actually have a HELLO! magazine photoshoot at our house with our new arrival in a few weeks so we won’t be moving out before then, but as soon as I can tell you more about our new project I will! My new property renovation show Beat My Build started on Channel 4 this week so hopefully you’ve had a chance to watch it. I don’t just enjoy presenting property shows, I love taking on my own projects too.

This week I have my last voiceover for A Place in the Sun before the baby arrives, and I will also be attending the Channel 4 Upfront party that showcases what is to come next year. I guess this will be my last chance to glam up before the big day!

Well that’s it from me for now.

Lots of love
