Testing times, travelling and celebrity guests at Lord Roberts on the Green

folHey guys,

How are you doing? How was your bank holiday weekend? School holidays are almost over and I’ve just got back from filming my last episode of A Place in the Sun for the Summer.

I’ve been filming in Southern Spain and it has been seriously hot. This time I mixed my filming trip in with a little holiday. I flew to Malaga a few days before the camera started rolling with Alex and the children. It was a much needed little break after our worrying few weeks with Tahlia.

Spending time together just as a family of four rarely happens so when it’s just us, I really appreciate it. We spent some lovely days around the pool where Rocco and Tahlia’s swimming really started to improve. Rocco is a pretty good swimmer already and Tahlia isn’t far behind.

I’ve never put armbands on either of them. Some people might disagree with this but it’s a decision Alex and I made together and we believe it has paid off. We captured some really beautiful images of them in their cute new swimsuits from a new brand called ‘Folpetto’. It’s a chic Italian design with SPF50 so great to know your little ones are being protected from the sun whilst looking trendy.

Anyone who has followed my blog will know that routine for my children is something I have been pretty strict with. Wherever we go In the world (if I’m working or we are on holiday), I always stick to their routine. They have a bath and are in bed by 7.30pm at the latest. We have definitely hit the terrible twos with Tahlia who has discovered she can scream and just throw herself on the floor. Rocco being a typical boy (so I’m told) has an obsession with superheroes and wants to be Batman when he grows up! He is constantly testing us at the moment, answering back and using words that he doesn’t know what they mean. He keeps saying ‘you are distracting me’ then asking ‘what does that mean’. It wasn’t until he was watching ‘Frozen’ that I realised he had picked it the word up from one of the characters.

Despite of the testing and challenging behaviour at the moment, Alex and I are currently making the most of the fact Rocco and Tahlia are still in bed at a reasonable time. We called a local babysitter we know from Estapona and decided to enjoy a couple of ‘date nights’ out in Spain.

The first place we tried was a restaurant called El Gamonal in San Pedro.

It was typically Spanish with a large courtyard filled with tables. I loved the fact they brought a bar to the table and the food was being cooked on huge BBQ’s in the gardens. We obviously had to start the evening with a cocktail and a plate of Jamon Iberico (cured Ham.)

The second night we had some tickets to see Michael Bolton in the grounds of the exclusive hotel Puerto Romano. Yes Michael Bolton – not my usual choice of a musician to follow but he was actually AMAZING! The music venue is set up in the tennis court and it’s a really intimate performance. They have a number of artists that perform over the Summer and it just so happened Michael was the artist performing the weekend we were there.

After the show we decided to try the new ‘Hotspot’ of Marbella ‘Nobu’ which was set within the same hotel grounds. Situation around a pretty square with a selection of other top end restaurants, the atmosphere was buzzing.

To tantalise your tastebuds we took some amazing photos of the food which included a delicious salmon sashimi, some tempura prawns and crab tacos.

I wore a peach, lace dress from Oasis with my nude Louboutins (which had to be worn in such an upmarket place!!)

We finished up the evening with a cocktail in the Chirrungito Beach bar and regretted it when the children woke us up at 530am the next morning.

It seems to work out well that he children understand when Daddy is with us we are on holiday, but when he goes home, it’s time for Mummy to work and they don’t mind. They know that they will see him again in 5 sleeps (if he is visiting for the weekend).

Even though it was extremely hot and standing with a reflector in my face is often blinding, I really enjoyed filming in on the Costa del Sol and Costa Tropical. I wore a bright yellow lace dress from the Myleene Klass collection and a gorgeous floral print dress from Live Lagom and independent shop located near to ITV on the Southbank.

I won’t be filming A Place in the Sun until October I have a few trips abroad for other projects between now and then which of course I will be blogging about and the children will be coming too. As much as I love going away and I feel I have packing my suitcase and travelling with children to a tee, one of the things I dread most is unpacking when I get back to the UK. Even though I do all the washing before I come home, it just takes forever.

We got back to the UK for the bank holiday weekend and it was a busy one. We enjoyed a lovely Saturday afternoon with JB and Chloe Gill and their cute little boy Ace at our coffee shop/restaurant. The children played really nicely together and Chloe and JB were really complimentary about the place. They are such a lovely family and Ace is a credit to them.

This week we have a follow up appointment with Tahlia regarding the lumps on her spine so hopefully we will come to a conclusion as to what it is and get it sorted.

As well as writing my Hello blog I have relaunched ‘Hamilton’s Hotspots’ where i will be featuring a new destination roughly every 10 days. I would love to hear your thoughts and get any feedback.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my Hello blog this time. Thank you as always for your support.

Until next time
