Dubai, Portugal and my new calendar!
I hope you have all had a great couple of weeks.
Since my last blog post quite a lot has happened; my 2017 calendar has been released, the first winner of the x2 return flights on Monarch with Hamilton’s Hotspots was announced, I’ve been to Dubai, I’ve filmed in Portugal, we enjoyed bonfire night and we celebrated Alex’s birthday – and it’s only been a few weeks…
My life is crazy, and although things might always look glossy from the outset, I work ridiculous hard and it’s not easy juggling everything. My downfall is not knowing how to switch off. I think I’m the way I am because I’ve always strived to make my parents proud. What’s ironic is that I believe I actually cause them more upset because I’m always so busy and occasionally have to let them down… it’s a no-win situation and it’s hard!
First things first then, my calendar. No I didn’t take all my clothes off, I simply had some nice, tasteful photos that I was encouraged to do after having worked so hard to get back in shape after having my children. I’m really proud of how the calendar looks. I’m not so sure my Mum approved as she was quick to comment “You have two children, you shouldn’t be doing that”! But why shouldn’t I? Does being a Mum mean you can’t do things like that?
Following the release of the calendar, I flew to Dubai on a celebratory holiday for my in laws 70th’s. First stop though was at Powder Box Beauty to see Iyeesha Ratty to get my brows shaped, waxing done and my LVL! I just love this lady and how she really defines my brows. It may sound crazy but your eyebrows really define your face and Iyeesha just knows what she is doing!
So I was pretty excited to be heading to Dubai on holiday this time rather than having to film. Me being me and never being able to switch of, I of course had to do some Hamilton’s Hotspots research. A family decision was made to stay in the Sofitel on the Palm. When we had stayed previously to see the New Year we were really impressed with the facilities for children, the accommodation (we had a two-bedroom apartment) and the food. However this time were a little disappointed that the service was a bit slow.
One of our favourite evenings out was to Novikov Dubai. The restaurant opened in July this year and much like the London venue the fresh counter display of fish and vegetables in an amazing sight. The Asian fusion style food/sushi was incredible but the real highlight of the evening had to be the dessert selection that was delivered on a smoking bed of dry ice.
A trip to Dubai wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to a waterpark and Aquaventure at The Atlantis (next door to The Sofitel we were staying in), was an obvious choice. Even though my two are both under three they loved the area specially designed for little ones and the lazy river. Rocco got pretty excited when he went through the rapids and is already showing signs that he is a bit of a daredevil like me!
We had a fantastic 9 days in Dubai, the weather was fab and everyone had a wonderful time. For myself and the children, it was one night in our beds in the UK before we flew to Portugal where I was filming.
I love Portugal. The beaches are stunning and the food is incredible. Okay so the weather might not have been as warm as Dubai but it was pleasant for November. Watching the sun set on the Beach in Porto do Mos was pretty special.
I managed to catch up with my personal trainer John Beeby (who is now living in Portugal) and it was nice being reunited in the country where we filmed our fitness app. I also found a few nice places for my Hamilton Hotspots website which you should check out. The November prize draw is now open to win x2 return flights on the Monarch network and all you have to do is subscribe.
After my Dubai and Portugal adventures, I headed straight to Sky News with Isabel the winner of a recent competition I’ve been involved with for The Book People and Action for children. Isabel has written her first story which will be published and all funds raised will be donated to a charity close to my heart. Congratulations Isabel.
The rest of my weekend we spent some quality time together as a family to celebrate bonfire night and Alex’s birthday. Rocco was in his element and Tahlia kept saying ‘bang’. It was an explosive weekend!
I can’t believe that this coming weekend Rocco will be 3! Where has the time gone.
With time going so quickly it’s no wonder I try and pack everything in…
I hope you all have a weekend. Until next time,
