Kimberley Wyatt’s wedding and my shopping trip with Sinitta

Hi guys,

Well it looks like my wish for good weather for the wedding I went to last Friday came true…  I was so happy for the bride and groom.

It was a real honour to be invited to Kimberley Wyatt’s and Max Rogers wedding last Friday.  They are such a gorgeous couple and the wedding was just like a fairytale.  Kimberley looked sensational and when she walked into the room you could hear the guests gasp at how beautiful she looked.

The wedding invitation stated that ladies had to wear gowns so I was really excited to be able to wear a Stephanie Allin dress.  Stephanie designed my wedding dress and her designs are stunning.  I opted for the Buckingham, a fitted, black floor length dress with a detachable skirt.

My friend Steve from Nouveau Lash did my make-up using fresh minerals.  I went for a smokey eye look with a nude lip.

I’m sure you will see some photos soon of Max and Kim but in the meantime, here is a little snap of me and Alex and myself and Steve!

Last week I noticed that Rocco has starting to dribble lots and he wants to put everything in his mouth.  I think he is too young to be teething but I wondered if it’s the start of things and if he has sore gums?  I was lucky enough to receive a box from The Peakaboo Baby Company that had a lovely baby grow from petit bateau and also a teething version of Sophie the Giraffe which is great.  The box had a lovely message welcoming Rocco to the world which I thought was really sweet.  If you have any top teething tips or advice let me know as I would love to hear your stories.

On Wednesday Rocco and I had a little shopping treat with Sinitta and her two children.  We visited Childsplay in Ilford and I felt like a kid in a candy shop. Sinitta was looking for some bits for Simon Cowell’s new baby Eric and I couldn’t resist buying some cute little bits for my little man too!  The shop is gorgeous and the staff are so helpful.  They stock clothes for newborns and for children up to age 16 so I think I will be visiting them lots over the next few years!

Yesterday it was my mother and father in laws 40th wedding anniversary so we had a lovely family meal to celebrate.  What an achievement – 40 years of marriage! Rocco’s uncle Ben had a lovely cuddle with him so I thought I would share the photo.

I hope you all have a fab weekend.
Lots of love to you all!

Rocco really is a little chatterbox – every day he does something new

Hi guys,

I hope you have all had a lovely week?

I’m really enjoying the Winter Olympics and it was fantastic to see Lizzie Yarnold take Gold in the Skeleton and Jenny Jones take Britain’s first ever Olympic medal on snow. I also want to say a huge congratulations to Davina for completing her Sport Relief challenge last week. I seriously don’t know how she did it. Absolutely incredible…

This week I’ve been in and out of meetings for work as well as trying out some new classes with Rocco. First off I tried ‘Tiny Talk’. This class encourages little ones to communicate using sign language that you demonstrate to them whilst singing songs. Many people swear by this. They say that it can help enormously before a baby is able to communicate through speech. For example if a baby can sign to ask for their milk/food, it is less frustrating for both the parent and child when previously they might have just cried. The idea is, at the end of the eight week course, your little one will have learnt a couple of the signs they will help them communicate to you. I really enjoyed the class probably more for the fact of meeting other mums and also seeing Rocco react to the other babies. If he can learn a few signs then great but if not then it doesn’t matter!

My favourite class this week was ‘Waterbabies’. Alex and I have started a ten week course with Rocco and after the first session we were really impressed. I must admit I was a little nervous of the fact that you let your baby swim underwater but as we learnt, all babies are born with a gag reflex so until the age of 9 months they can hold their breath underwater. The aim of the class is to teach them to hold their breath as they get older and encourage them to be more confident in the water.

What I particularly liked was the fact that the class was small. There were about ten other babies and the tuition from Carly our course teacher was brilliant. The pool was 34 degrees so it was nice and warm and after a 30 minute session Rocco was exhausted. I’m really excited to see how he develops over the next ten weeks. ‘Waterbabies’ run classes all over the country and you can find out more about classes local to your area on their website www.waterbabies.co.uk.

Rocco really is a little chatterbox – he is cooing lots and I think he looks a real cutie in his lovely collection of clothes from the online boutique Susie and Toto. It’s amazing how each day I notice that he is doing something new.

On Friday I did a little bit of filming for Daybreak (which will be on in a couple of weeks). The weather was absolutely appalling and we had to film most of it inside. We were in a great location and I took loads of photos of the house as inspiration for our house renovation! I really feel for all the people who have been affected by the bad weather. It really is quite worrying and hopefully the rain and wind will let up soon. We are having a few issues ourselves because of the weather. Our builders are unable to carry out work on our house. Part of our renovation requires some of the roof to be stripped so we are having to wait until we have a few dry days.

Let’s hope the sun shines soon – particularly for a wedding I am going to on Friday.

Until next week,

Laura xx

An epic month on The Jump, baby Rocco and Davina McCall

I’m finally back in the UK after an epic month…

Well after what seems like forever, and much to Alex’s delight, baby Rocco and I are now back in the UK. The Jump has finished and I can honestly say I’ve had one of the best experiences of my life. I’ve made some amazing new friends and even though some of the Olympic disciplines I competed in terrified me, I feel extremely fortunate that I’ve had the opportunity to try them and was coached by the best! Of course, I have to say a big congratulations to Joe McElderry who won the show… He was a complete natural and is such a lovely down-to-earth guy. Now that the show is over, it’s great watching the winter Olympics and seeing some of our trainers presenting in Sochi. It just makes me appreciate my experience even more.

One of the friends I made while competing in the show was Kelly Simpkin. Kelly is a fashion designer and celebrity hairdresser. She also happens to be Nicky Clarke’s girlfriend. Kelly always looks fabulous and wears a lot of her own designs. Her label She Wears a Crown is beautiful and definitely worth a look!

Rocco is now three months old and I feel like he is becoming an extremely sociable baby. He has spent almost half of the first part of his life in Austria having lots of cuddles with all the other celebrity contestants on The Jump as well as the show’s host Davina McCall. Davina is a real inspiration to me, not only is she a working mum, but the Sport Relief challenge she is embarking on is so extreme it makes ski jumping look easy. Davina had to helped out of the water after a gruelling one-and-a-half mile swim in Lake Windermere. It looks like she is doing okay now, thankfully. Davina is amazing, so I am sure she will do well.

While I was in training in Austria, I started reading to Rocco every day as well as playing him lots of French nursery rhyme videos. I’m really keen for him to be able to speak some other languages as well as English. I spent a fair bit of time with Sinitta whose children are fluent in French, and it was incredible hearing them speak to Rocco. A lot of people keep telling me babies are like sponges so the earlier I can start speaking other languages with him the better. Now that I am home I want to take him to a few classes too. I want to try Sing and Sign and Water Babies. Watch this space…

Now I am back home, our house renovation is well underway. Our new windows are installed and our planning permission has been approved – now the real work begins!

This week I have several meetings as well as filming for Daybreak. Rocco has his Sing and Sign class on Wednesday so I’ll let you know what it’s like!

Have a great week…
