My first Mother’s Day and Mila’s baby classes!
Mila is nine months old! Time literally flies these days, she’s growing up so fast in the blink of an eye and becoming a different baby. Every day and every week, she’s changing. I just cannot believe that nine months ago in June I had a baby. She’s got her own character now, her own identity, she’s developing her own little quirky things. It’s just wonderful to watch!
We’re going to lots of different classes because I want her to be a very independent and active baby. She is absolutely loving Sing and Sign classes at the moment. She interacts a lot with other babies which is great, she isn’t scared and just sitting by my side. She’s always rolling around and playing with toys and going to the teacher – it’s so lovely to see!
Mila is also loving the Water Babies classes. She kicks her little legs and loves being in the water, and under the water. I was so scared of doing that but she isn’t! The classes are amazing – you can tell she really loves it and just goes crazy when she’s in the water. It makes me really happy to see that my daughter can swim, because I really can’t!
We’re planning a family holiday away right before Easter. Ben’s mum, his girls, his brother and his brother’s family are coming with us to Spain. It’ll be great to have Mila with me abroad again. She’ll be able to practise her swimming in the pool, it’ll be sunny, I can’t wait!
Like any mum, I’m constantly researching and I came across Baby Massage classes. I’ve always wanted to try it but there was just a lack of time. When we come back from holiday I’m going to start it, and I’m hoping Mila will enjoy it. I’m pretty sure she will because I’ve done a bit of massage on her already every evening after bath time. She loves the oils, but I really want to learn how to do it properly and learn about the pressure points that are good for her.
There are so many different classes on the market but I’ve found that these ones really work for Mila. They’re in our area and we go twice/three times a week – it’s good to get her out of the house and it’s lovely bonding time. Ben and I take it in turns to take her to the classes, and with Water Babies she’s very comfortable in the water with both of us.
Spring has really sprung and I feel like I’m starting to think about my bikini body and being on the beach! Like I’ve always said, there’s a lot of pressure on mums to lose baby weight and look good. I had a lot of nice compliments from readers saying that I managed to lose my baby weight in seven months but it really wasn’t easy. And it’s also about maintaining that baby weight. I’m not that active now, I’ve started teaching dance a bit but it’s nothing like training eight hours a day. I’ve started doing videos on Instagram, I call them ‘Baby Nap’ videos. They’re exercises and work outs you can do in 30 minutes while your baby is napping. A lot of mums have said it’s a brilliant idea and they can relate to me! Please do watch them and let me know what you think.
Yoga teacher training…
I have some really exciting news. I’ve just started yoga teacher training! I’ve been doing yoga for 16 years, I absolutely love it and it really helped me keep fit during Strictly. Hot yoga was one of the best things I could do to maintain my endurance and flexibility for competitions. I did a bit of ballet when I was younger, and a lot of gymnastics, but I’ve always said that yoga has helped me. We all know the benefits of hot yoga, and right now I’m reading a lot of educational material about why people love yoga so much, why we get addicted and what it does for your body. I have to complete 200 hours for my training and I really can’t wait to go through this journey. It’s never too late to try new things, right? Maybe I’ll also come up with a way of combining yoga and dancing, who knows?
My annual fundraising event for Dot Com Foundation
I have my annual fundraising event coming up! It’s going to be at the BT Tower this year. I’m so excited because the venue is just incredible and has the most breathtaking view over London. It’s quite an exclusive event. We are only having eight tables so it’ll be intimate. I’ll be dancing with one of the professional dancers from my show One More Dance. We’ll be doing a dance from the show, and the wonderful Christopher Maloney will be singing. I made friends with him on Celebrity Big Brother and we’ve kept in touch. For me, I had a great experience in the house. Yes I was missing home and missing Ben and my mum, because she was over, and there were people that I obviously didn’t click with in the house, but there are a couple of people who I made great friends with, like Christopher. I don’t think it really changed the public’s perception of me because I didn’t have any breakdowns or meltdowns, I was just being myself. I actually thought it was a good experience at the end of the day.
Last year, Ben gave me a card from my baby bump! It was really sweet and I’m keeping it for Mila’s scrapbook. I was obviously pregnant at the time and was reading so many books about motherhood. What a difference a year makes! This year was my first Mother’s Day as a mum. It was so special. I had all the family around me and my gorgeous little girl in my arms. I took thousands of photos and videos! I can’t believe I have this new person in my life. She’s my universe, and I can’t ever imagine my life without her! I hope all the mums out there had an amazing day. I’m wishing you all the love and happiness in the world, and remember, it’s not easy. We’re still learning and it’s a journey and we’re all doing the best we can.
