Sunshine, The Oscars and affordable gowns
Well hello there,
I hope we are all well and had a good week. Have you been enjoying some of this wonderful sunshine that we’ve been seeing? It’s so nice to wake up and have the light beaming through the bedroom window isn’t it?
I started this week with a trip to Hix restaurant on Saturday evening with my parents. I love the food in there – good, hearty, English dishes – sometimes with a twist. Its always buzzing and the cocktails are fabulous! A definite must!
Tuesday was such a beautiful day. It was nice to leave the house with my sunglasses on! Apart from skiing, I don’t think I have worn them much this year. I always wear Ray-bans. I think its really important to have good lenses, after all we only have one set of eyes so we must take care of them! I have many styles but on Tuesday I was sporting my gold Aviators.
I also own a pair of Clubmasters which I think are very cool! They are such an iconic piece of eyewear, I love the 50’s feel that just keeps on being reinvented. I also really like the brand new version of the Wayfarer – ‘Original Wayfarer Ice Pop’. There are some great colours. Perfect for taking you right through the spring and summer! My favourite is the Grape!
Sorbet shades all round!!
I was lucky enough to be pampered myself this week, with a facial by Chelsee Lewis. Chelsea is an expert facialist, now offering her services at Nicky Clarke, Mayfair. I opted for the ‘Le Visage’. This is a unique facial that was completely tailor made just for me. I had a deep cleanse and a micro peel to help balance my skin, speed up cell renewal, even out the tone and soften any lines and wrinkles. Well, apart from being super relaxing – laying in a softly heated bed – my skin has felt so much nicer since. Chelsee advised me on a skin care routine that was right for me and I must say that I have been paying extra special attention ever since. It is so important to look after your skin, especially whilst you are still youthful, to help promote healthy younger looking skin as you get older. My mum has amazing skin, as did my nan, so i’m hoping thats its partly in my genes!! To see more of what Chelsee has to offer visit her website.
This week we saw the annual Oscars bash. I’m not sure about you but i’m slightly more interested in who’s wearing what rather than the awards themselves! Some gorgeous gowns danced along the red carpet that evening. So many of them I would love to have worn myself (if I was ever lucky enough to attend!) – absolutely stunning! Featuring heavily this year were reds and muted tones of golds and nudes. Some of my favourite colours!
I absolutely loved Cate Blanchett’s dress. She wore an Armani gown which was entirely covered in Capiz shells and tiny gold beads. So soft yet still quite dramatic. I love the idea of shells on a dress. So natural and floaty!
Did you see the racy red number worn by Jennifer Lawrence? Clean simple lines, hugging all the right places, giving a very sexy silhouette.
I loved the Valentino gown worn by Sally Hawkins – Wow is the only word for this wondrous piece! Lace at its best – true Valentino style.
Keep it classic like Charlize Theron and opt for a black fishtail. Dior has created a beautiful shape here but I’m just not too sure about those straps?
For similar looks without breaking the bank try looking at places like Coast and Karen Millen. They have an all year round, affordable, extensive collection of evening wear. Here a few that I have selected from Coast.

Kelly’s Collectables. This week I have spotted this fabulous pair of Art Deco style earrings by Ben Amun (£255). The perfect accessory to your Hollywood glamour evening gown!
Thats all from me this week, I hope you enjoyed the read. Have a great weekend!
Until next week….
