Fish ‘n’ Chips, London Fashion Week, a fairytale wedding and #FashionFriday!
How has your week been? Its been busy couple of weeks for me! My last post was on Valentines day morning. Did you do anything special? I’m never really sure that I like going out on Valentines evening, it can all be a little bit too slushy and cheesy!! A red rose on the table and couples gazing into each others eyes! This year I said to Nicky, ‘lets just stay in with Fish and Chips!” So we did. Steaming hot cod, chips and a flute of rose champagne. What more can a girl want?
We did, however, go out to eat the following evening to one of my favourite restaurants – Roka! I cant wait to try the new one in Mayfair!
So, I visited London Fashion Week at Somerset House on the Saturday. It was so busy with young fashionista’s, photographers, the bloggers and the blaggers all running around looking fabulous and trying to get a glimpse of the next big thing. We bumped into Myleene Klass and had a quick chat to her!
Nicky and I were invited to the launch of “The Last Asylum”. A book written by our sister-in-law, Barbara Taylor. A moving memoir of her time in a mental hospital in North London in the 1980’s. She talks about the UK’s end of the asylum system. How would a woman cope in this day and age? Most of the mental hospitals closed and the privatisation of hostels. In Barbara’s words, “The simple answer relates to what I needed most: asylum, a safe place to be, a ‘stone mother’ to hold me as long as I required it.” Although there is misery in this book, this read is far from miserable.

Last week I said goodbye to my dear Nan. She closed her eyes for the last time on February 6th. She was 92 years old and made of steel! We think that Catherine Tate may have based her “Nan” character on my Nanny Ethel! She had a lovely send off, the sun was shining down on us all as we said our goodbyes and laid her to rest. I made my flowers myself, a heart of roses. I am sure she would have loved them.

The following day we attended a very special wedding. It was just like a fairytale! Beautiful bridesmaids, some with fairy wings. Trees inside creating a magical atmosphere, green moss on the floor with snowdrops peering through – absolutely stunning! For this wondrous event I wore Stephanie Allin! I absolutely love her dresses!
So here we are bang up to date #FashionFriday. What am I wearing today? I have on a pair of black skinny jeans from Zara (always count on Zara for an affordable staple!), Black skinny polo with a jacket that was hand made for me by my niece, Alexia. Lexi is just 11 years old and presented me with a beautiful box jacket for christmas. I was absolutely speechless! She even found a fabric that had tiny monkey’s all over it to keep in with my logo for my own label! Talk about keeping fashion in the family! ha! It has low slung pockets and a skinny, rounded lapel. I love it! I have always enjoyed being different and having clothes that no one else has, this piece is truly unique! For this picture I put a tie of Nicky’s around my head (just to add a 60’s feel!) which was also made by Lexi.

I hope you all have some amazing plans for the weekend, I hope the sun shines and you enjoy all that you do!
Until next week.
