Time for a spring clean!

Hello lovelies,

I hope you are all well and had a fantastic Easter? I actually completely switched off over the bank holiday weekend which was super nice and mega unusual for me! Total relaxation!

After a busy start to the year Nicky & I had our first holiday of 2016 in March! We went to Courchevel for a weeks skiing. It was absolutely amazing, we couldn’t have asked for better weather or snow conditions! Perfect sunshine and powdered pistes! Heaven!

I got to wear my new Goldberg Ski pants too….! Accessorising with my classic Missoni Scarf!

Goldbergh Paris ski pants available from Winternational and cost £179

After lots of wine, potatoes and cheese in the mountains, and of course Easter eggs!, I have started a detox this week. A spring clean if you like! I have completely cut out gluten, dairy, alcohol, legumes, caffeine and processed foods from my diet. To be honest i’m pretty healthy anyway so i’m not finding it too difficult. The only thing that I did notice was a terrible headache for the first couple of days. On day one I was pretty hungry too, fancying all of the things that I couldn’t have but now that has past and I feel quite good. I will try to be as strict as possible but may allow myself a treat or two at the weekend! I kind of like to live like that, the whole 80/20 thing. Be good 80% of the time and treat yourself 20% of the time, so be healthy during the week and have a little bit of what you fancy on the weekends! (within reason!) Because i take so much toxic medication for the Lupus I am conscious of staying healthy with what I put inside my body, my fuel.

To help kick start my day I have been making my own smoothies with my new Oster Versa performannce blender! Its fabulous, you can make spreads, smoothies, juices and hot soups! Yep, put the cold vegetables in and within 5 minutes you have hot soup ready to eat! Amazing! Its such a great way to ensure that you are getting all of your vitamins in a healthy drink or meal.

The Oster Versa Performance Blender is available at Amazon for £349.99

We recently had a new picture framed to hang in our hallway. Its a wonderful oil paint illustration by the super talented Poppy Waddilove. I gave the painting to Nicky as a Christmas present. He was blown away by it and totally loved it! You can see that it captures us both so well. There is so much movement and life in the image, so special to have a commissioned piece to treasure forever. The colours and energy used are fabulous. Poppy illustrates runway shows, lookbooks and much more. Poppy’s artwork has been featured in The Edit on Net a Porter and Grazia magazine! One to watch for sure!
You must check out her website, www.poppywaddilove.com, and instagram…. @poppywaddilove . Its such a beautiful idea for a birthday gift to a loved one!

Looking fab framed on our wall!IMG_1649

A close up so that you can see the colours and movement lines – we love it!

Thats all from me, i’m off to continue sketching SS17 ideas – I know scary that we work so far ahead in the fashion industry!! Craziness!

Enjoy the beautiful spring weather that we are having right now.

Big love, speak soon,

Kelly xx

Slope style….!

Well its that time of year again….the snow has fallen (finally!), the pistes are groomed and the ‘vin chaud’ is waiting! Yes, its ski season!!

To all the avid skiers out there, a magical time of year, to non-snow warriors I apologise now! I cannot wait to get into my ski boots and feel the wind in my hair racing down the slopes! Sitting back in a deck chair cocooned in a fleece blanket, or fur if i’m lucky, with my face gently tanning in the mountain rays. Pure indulgence!

The conditions may be great and you’re with your favourite friends but you absolutely must make sure that you have all the gear!!

To me, looking good on the slopes is tré important. You want to shine when you are traversing the Milky Way! Its all about the outfit on and off piste! Selection is key, take separates that you can team up to make several different ski outfits. Even if just the accessories, think outside the box. Don’t think that you’re sitting on a chair lift, imagine you are lunching outside Scotts in Mayfair – look the part! From sunglasses to gloves, attention to detail is key!

Try adding a silk neck scarf instead of a bulky fleece snood, quite often this will be warm enough and much more chic when you sit down to lunch and start snapping your album of snow selfies!

A few of my fav picks for this season are here…i’ve added links to lead you straight to the site ready to buy! (handy, I know!)

Donna-black-Uniq_grandeThis gorgeous fitted ski jacket is the perfect staple for your snow wardrobe. Goldbergh-Sascha-front_fc13dedc-86f8-4bcb-a6b3-3c7ccc8406ed_grandeThese pants are on my own must have list! I have ordered a pair for my upcoming winter holiday! I cannot wait to receive them! Sophisticated and stylish with the stirrup, these trousers will keep you warm and streamlined! Just perfect. Again available from my favourite designer ski wear store…. Winter National. Also available in sand.

stretched-Emmegi-Hilla-Ski-pant-black-1-front_grandeAnother chic style. You cannot go wrong with the bootleg pant. Creating a great shape and elongating the leg. The Hilla ski pant will go with every kind of jacket. 4 way stretch fabric to give comfort, slimline pockets and self coloured belt to really nip in your waist. You’ve guessed it, available from  Winter National.

Each piece of ski wear mentioned will also look great when walking in town or when you are in Aprés ski mode! Now all you need to do is accessorise….

These accessories will really complete your outfit on the piste. Stock up before you go!

Brighten that pout with a Tom Ford lipstick.

Smoke Red £38, Selfridges

Splash out on some cool slope worthy sunnies! These will not be too kind to the pocket but boy will you look cool!

I hope that I’ve inspired another years ski season wardrobe for you. If you need any extra ‘piste-side’ tips just drop me a message on twitter or Instagram, you know where I am…. @Kelly_Simpkin

Enjoy the mountains and ski safe!

So long for now snow bunnies!

And so it begins….

Happy New Year!

Here we are again, Christmas is over, back to work and the calendar starts to roll. Where do the weeks go? It feels like yesterday that I was frantically traipsing the stores looking for christmas presents!

So January, what do you have in store? For me its been a pretty hectic start. Partly because fashion week is only just over a month away – eek! But also life is just, well….busy!

Last Saturday was called something like ‘holiday Saturday’, meaning that it was the busiest day for booking holidays! Everyone feeling the winter blues so they cheer themselves up with something to look forward to! Well I beat everyone, I booked mine a few weeks ago! We are going to Antigua, again! We loved it so so much that we’ve decided to return! Even to the same hotel….Blue Waters. It was fabulous so we thought we’d have more! Beautiful white sandy beaches, wonderful sunsets and fabulous staff….oh I wish I was there now!

Heaven in a resort!

What else has been going on in my life? I spent last Sunday with a group of girls for my friends baby shower. We had a gorgeous afternoon tea at the Soho Hotel followed by fun & games including caricatures! It was quite funny watching people have theirs done and then seeing their faces when they had the first glimpse! Quite a few were not happy with their pointy noses or big chins! #lol

Mine was ok actually (well I think so!), big hair, big eyes, big lashes and a big grin!! Pretty much the same as the one I had drawn in Tenerife when I was eight!!

Fun & games at the baby shower!

Preparing for LFW….I am planning on showing at a v cool location….tbc and so its all go getting everything ready in time! I can’t even count the amount of fabric suppliers I’ve visited in the past couple of weeks, from lace to jersey, east to west! Its at that very exciting stage when you really can see the collection coming together and life being injected into it. As I design I can totally feel my collections getting stronger each time, its like constantly learning and evolving with your job. I love it! I’ve had some great call outs for pieces too so hopefully we will be seeing some of Kelly Simpkin SS16 appearing in magazines soon! #exciting Will keep you posted.

Did you grab any bargains in the sales? I certainly did! We were crazy enough to hit Selfridges on Boxing Day – Yes I know!! Totally worth it though as Nicky brought me a gorgeous pair of Saint Laurent courts – black, sling back, pointy toe – super chic and classic! I will have them in my wardrobe for years, a real staple.

I am really into gym wear at the moment. I’m doing a lot of walking and trying to fit in a couple of Garuda classes (http://www.thegaruda.net) each week and i’m getting outfit obsessed! Today I got some wacky leggings from Victoria Secret and a sports bra top. Really wild colours!

These are the pants – great aren’t they! You’ll see me coming thats for sure!

By the way – check out my brand new website…. kellysimpkin.com

Must go now…..things to do!

Speak soon,

Big love,

Crazy November and a new winter warmer!

My, my, where does the time go? Another  year almost over! How have you been? I have been non stop since we last spoke!! Crazy! I think November is possibly the busiest month in my whole calendar. So many charity balls, Christmas parties and just full on with everything else. Trying to be organised and get all of my Christmas shopping done before anyone else. It always starts off well then i’m usually left with just a couple of things to get right at the last minute!!

So November was also the month of my birthday and I was thoroughly spoilt yet again! I got some lovely blouses from Anne Fontaine. For that classic white shirt, with a twist, that will never date head to the store or take a look online. The perfect gift for someone who has everything!

I also got some beautiful rose gold earrings from Stephen Webster from my parents- I do love rose gold, a Louis Vuitton card holder – every girl needs one of these and some gorgeous Victoria Secret PJ’s – who doesn’t love those!! Lots of lovely gifts and another year older!!

My Mum surprised me with a charcoal bow wrapped around my front door. This time she tried out some new accessories and added gold stars. The colour collaboration worked a treat! Dress-My-Door bows are such a great way to dress your house for all occasions – proud of my Mum for creating this unique and original idea!

Me standing by my Dress-My-Door bow wearing Toga Pulla boots, Ralph Lauren shirt dress and Abercrombie & Fitch sweater!

We went out for dinner at the new Ivy restaurant…. Ivy Chelsea Garden. I had my favourite Ivy dish as always…Shepherds pie!! Yum!

Birthday celebrations over for another year and on to the rest of the month…. Our favourite ball of the Year….Battersea Collars and Coats Ball. This year I wore a dress from my new SS16 collection, The Scallop Dress. This dress is a real show stopper piece, Gold leather bustier with hand cut, hand stitched lace and a froth of organza for the skirt. One of my favourite pieces!

Nicky & I captured at the ball!

For more images of my SS16 collection please visit my BRAND NEW website soon! kellysimpkin.com

Onto December and those days are getting shorter and colder….I suddenly need a new warm, cosy coat! This year I wanted a parka style coat. I’ve seen lots around and I wanted to make sure that I got that extra special one – of course!!

You can always count on Mr & Mrs Italy for a parka with a zing! This one is priced at £2,240 and available from Net-a-Porter

Another coat that eye-catching was this one from ASOS . A total bargain at £85! What I loved about this one was its maxi length….will definitely keep you warm this winter!

The one that I settled for is just a dream! Its from Woolrich . It’s so sumptuous that I don’t want to take it off! The racoon fur trim goes the whole way around the hood and down both sides to keep you extra  toasty. I got the black version as I wear more black and I just liked it better. I think its sold out everywhere now so only green and navy available.

With our winters lasting through to March its not too late to bag yourself a winter wonder coat!! Check out the sales in January – I’m sure you’ll find some great bits!

Good luck with the Christmas shopping & wrapping and I will try to touch base before the big man in red comes!

Warm winter hugs,

Kelly x

Prepare For Winter!

Hey everybody,

Halloween is over and Christmas is fast approaching. Yes, that’s right, the end of 2015 is near and winter is almost taking over! The time for wearing costumes is done and the time to dress up for parities and dinners is here. Be prepared with some of the latest trendy, chic big winter coats as it is going to be a cold end to the year. The craze for being able to wear big and furry cover ups is finally here, whether it is a waterfall or a princess cut, there is a coat for everybody. And where would you be without the loved accessories? Personalise your coat with a set of classic short leather gloves or go old school with a pair of fingerless, hand knitted mitts.Louis VuittonAW15Louis Vuitton AW15

The cold, frosty, white weather will easily help you highlight your coat, as well as your sense of style, as the latest trends are colours that ‘pop’ in sight, such as the colder colours that are your blues, greens, whites and blacks. Warmer tones such as red, pink and orange are worn but aren’t as related to the season as much as cooler hues.

Pair your coat with the perfect bag, whether it’s classic Chanel flap bag or a timeless little Louis Vuitton speedy, perfect on the go.

Chanel bagDress your coat with a pair of closed toe lace up heels if you’re out on in the evening, but during the day why not kick it back with a pair of statement knee high boots and casual jeans to really showcase your legs.AW15a

AW15And how could I forget jumpers and knits? Complete your outfit with the perfect knitted jumper to keep that idea of warmth with you. The smart but casual ‘shirt with jumper’ is always going to be a trend that won’t die, so feel free to take that opportunity as you can’t go wrong. Go for the sweet Peter Pan collar or maybe the ‘untucked’ look with a sharp, large collar. knit2 knitWhy not add a statement necklace? Charm up your outfit with an eye-catching piece that will make everyone jealous! Earrings? Let’s not go too heavy as it is winter and staying simplistic gives you the chance to dust off those diamond or pearl earrings that you’ve been meaning to wear. Moving onto your choice of rings. Where to start? Rings add that certain element of colour as even the smallest ring has an effect on your entire outfit. It is unbelievably true as the tiniest stone could help bring your outfit to life.

During the day, Chelsea boots are your thing. Guys. You must own a pair of these! They are so easy to pair and they have become a huge obsession! The Chelsea boot is so sleek, it allows you to wear with almost anything!  From a pair of jeans to tights & skirt to shorts, you can literally wear them with your whole wardrobe! chelsea bootThe grunge look of the heel boot shoe creates height and really defines the whole look. Another winter must have.chelsea heel

I hope i’ve inspired you to go out and start hunting down your winter wardrobe!

Until next time….be warm and bang on trend!

Big love,

Kelly x

Autumn walking wardrobe & fashion round up!

Hey there pumpkins (very apt I thought!!),

How are we all?

I am totally loving this autumnal weather! Its that kind of summer/fall cross over where you can mix your wardrobe a bit. Too cold for bare legs but not quite chilly enough for the big winter coat. Beautiful sunny days with crisp golden leaves on the ground. Perfect for walks with your loved one, be it the other half or your loyal hound!

I’m so lucky to live close to Hampstead Heath – one of my favourite places to go for walks. Its so nice to get some fresh air and take in the wonderful scenery.

IMG_0061 IMG_0062-2My walking attire usually consists of:

Some comfy waterproof boots – mine are from Timberland

Warm skinny trousers

Cashmere sweater with layers of t-shirts or vests underneath

A Barbour jacket

Cosy scarf

Some gloves – I go for fingerless this time of year

A good hat

Lastly a pair of sunglasses!

Its such a good idea to layer so that you can peel off if you get too warm! Nicky has a similar outfit!

Ive also recently shot my new collection – ‘Kelly Simpkin SS16′.

I am so proud of this one as i’ve really pushed my boundaries. I’ve created an evening wear collection that will be Red Carpet ready! I’ve even designed a wedding gown. So pleased with everything! Watch this space to see more!

Behind the scenes – Kelly Simpkin shoot

So fashion weeks have come and gone. For me there were some absolutely amazing pieces that will inspire for some time to come. My top picks off the runways have to be Vera Wang bridal collection, Givenchy  RTW & Oscar de la Renta RTW. Pure elegance, all of them!

Vera-Wang-006-1366rsz__mon0780 rsz__osc1315I would wear any one of those dresses given the chance! The fabrics, the colours and shapes are just fabulous.

Would love to hear which designers you were in awe of this season?

I’ll be back soon with more fashion and lifestyle! Until then, enjoy the leaves and be good!

Big love,

Kelly x

Is summer really over….?

Hey there lovelies,

How are we all? I hope you have all had an amazing summer….feels like its over now for another year and autumn is truly upon us! It seems to be raining so much lately! I’m lucky enough to be writing to you form the Balearics again…..yes I know….(don’t mean to make you jealous!)

Well, what have I been up to? Its been a while and boy have I been busy….

Time spent with friends in Mallorca, boats, Paella and sangria galore! I really do love that place, its holds a special spot in my heart. Mallorca was actually the first foreign place I visited as a kid, many moons ago!

Fashion Soiree garden Party for the British Red Cross.

A summer evening in September was spent praying for dry weather! I was holding a fashion show in our garden for the British Red Cross! I recently became a member of the London Committee and this was my first fundraising event! The lawn was neatly cut, candles everywhere and the red carpet rolled out. Now I just needed it to stay warm (ish) and dry! Guests arrived early and the prosecco and champagne corks were popping – courtesy of Grandi Vini and Angel Champagne! After an hour of chatting to friends and supporters the show began. Music was a mix of Madonna’s Living For Love, The Rolling Stones -Paint it Black, Grace Jones – La Vie en Rose and George Michael’s Faith. The girls form Space Models walking for me were amazing! Such professional and lovely models! They looked fab in Kelly Simpkin London and it was so well received.

We followed the catwalk with an auction and raffle and raised almost six thousand pounds! I was thrilled!

Christmas has come early for me! I’ve been lucky enough to be sent a Harlem Carter clutch recently.

Harlem Carter, a new British luxury lifestyle company whose style is evident in their collections, with a wealthy look, it’s already a firm “lust have” amongst celebs.

Harlem Carter designs a lifestyle, their fashion, jewellery, handbags and accessories are for both women and men who like to covet the next best thing, they understand style not trends.

Their designs are not for the meek or timid, but instead for those who wear their fashion as a badge of honor and style.

Exploring the fantasy of regal rock and roll chic, Harlem Carter lifestyle epitomizes classic, entwining extravagant detailing with understated chic.

I have the pure heart crystal clutch. It has white crystals which just go with everything. You can simply hold in your hand or drape over your shoulder with the sleek silver strap, very chic! With the Christmas party season not too far round the corner, the Harlem Carter Clutch bags are ideal. Perfect gifts for the lady in your life guys too!! #ChritsmasPresent

Thank you Harlem Carter!

With another trip to Mallorca planned I was on the search for some fun sunglasses. I discovered Vow!

The frames are fresh, fun and fashion forward using distinctive acetates, subtle branding and discrete metal detailing. Each pair of sunglasses is individually hand-crafted & perfectly paired with high quality lenses. Comfortable, functional but funky! A real treat on the beach. You can really spice up an outfit or bikini with a nice pair of sunnies!IMG_9880

An audience with the other half!

What a couple of weeks its been….busy busy in more ways than one! I barely know what day it is!! My feet have not touched the ground!

Touch down from Mallorca and straight back into the swing of things with a breakfast meeting with the lovely Tania fares, Co Founder of the Fashion Trust. Such an interesting lady with amazing style! Monday evening was followed by a wonderfully inspiring event held at the salon by Nicky. ‘An Audience with’. Nicky told his story, 40 years of hairdressing history, to an audience of friends, celebrities and press. Each time I see his show reel or listen to his story I feel so proud. That man has achieved so much in his life and has such an amazing talent. So grateful to have him as my boyfriend!

I wore Suede Prairie shirt by Kelly Simpkin London, Skirt by Maje, shoes by Bottega Veneta, necklace by Stephen Webster.

We finished the evening with drinks at Mahiki….phew, a lot in one day for me!!

Thank god I have some new eye creams to help with tired eyes and bags!!

Absolutely in love with my new ALUMINE products!

The products are developed by celebrity stylist and cosmetologist Peter Lamas. Peter Lamas has worked along side Victoria Secret, Oprah Winfrey and 24 the tv series, using his expert knowledge to create these products. The products are 100% natural organic products, at the highest potency on the market today.

Nourishing Buriti Oil Moisturiser – This gorgeous hydrating and skin renewing cream is full of vitamins, antioxidants and natural botanical ingredients. Buriti oil is a great source of vitamin A. The cream is absorbed quickly and light enough for every day wear. My face feels fresh, protected but not at all greasy.

Brightening Emblica Eye Cream – the exotic ingredients of this cream help restore and reduce dark circles – a must after a late night!! Super lightweight too.

Overnight Age Defying Facial Treatment – This has to be my favourite product! It improves cell renewal and the consistency is just wonderful, feels divine when you apply to your face. The apple stem cells help reduce fine lines and wrinkles and balance skin tones. It smells heavenly too!

Overnight Age Defying Eye Serum – another super product that just makes me feel so relaxed the minute I open the pot. Like the facial treatment, this serum combines apple stem cells and glycopeptides with a propriety Mineral complex that revitalises the skin and fights ageing. It firms and lifts sagging tissue around the eyes and reduces lines and puffiness. It contains lavender oil which will have the added benefit of helping you sleep!

I am yet to try the scrub & cleanser but I have no doubt that they will be amazing too!

All products are paraben free, jam packed with vitamins and minerals and vegan. You must try! To read more click here. If you want to purchase any products, please use the  business ID 8870420100.

Summer loving & Alessandra Rich’s wonderful creations

Hey there!

I hope we are all well? Are you enjoying this weather? I love the sunshine but yesterday was a little too hot! Thank god we have air conditioning in our bedroom! At least I can sleep at night. The humidity also affects my Lupus and my joints get ever so swollen so it really does help with the AC.

Last week we had the wedding of Nicky’s son. What a fabulous day that was. It was held at Hengrave Hall in Suffolk. Absolutely stunning, as was the bride! I wore two gorgeous dresses from a good friend of mine, Alessandra Rich – truly amazing designer! I adore her dresses and I love the ankle length, so different. I feel beautiful but also edgy, like I could wear with heels or flat brogues. So demure! Alessandra Rich uses lots of Chantilly lace, among silk organza, with contrasting ribbons of passementerie trimming the edges, seams, and pockets à la vintage Chanel.

First I will show you the look book professional shots….then you can see me in them!

I must say that I had countless compliments on both dresses and cannot wait for another opportunity to wear them! I paired the blue lace dress with a pair of Gucci rose gold heels and the black evening dress with Jimmy Choos! Christian Louboutin bags both times. IMG_1903

Nicky & I during the day

IMG_0923Our evening attire!

The dresses were from the SS2015 collection. You can purchase Alessandra Rich from Net-a-Porter .

Since then I have been a busy bee with my SS16 collection, I have a brand new team working with me and I am so excited! The collection has drifted more into evening wear which is looking fabulous! Watch this space!

Perfect summer evening. Tonight Nicky & I are off to the Roof Top Film Club, great weather for it! I cannot wait, I have my gluten free Lola’s cupcakes to take with us so i’m all set! Such a great summer treat, you should go. Click here link for more information.

Until next time, enjoy the sunshine!

Big love,

Kelly x
