An exciting trip to Malta
One night I’m sleeping in my bed, the next night I’m sleeping on a boat. Ha! Life.. I must say the best sleep I’ve ever had definitely would have to be on a boat. I could easily sleep all day. The rocking and swaying makes me feel like I’m back in my mom’s womb. No wonder babies like being rocked.
Recently, Kevin and I have made a big change in our sleeping habits. We are now making sure that we get 8 full hours of sleep every night. As oppose to our 4-5 hours a night. We are trying to be in bed by 11pm and up and about by 7am unless we’ve had a show the night before and need to rest up a bit more. I also never leave home without my monkey bear whose name is “fidget”. Can’t go to bed without him. Kevin gave him to me when we started dating and he has not left my bedside ever since. I’m still a kid at heart.
With enough rest and having my monkey bear with me, I can feel the change in my body, skin and have the ability to feel more productive and aware throughout the day.
A cup of coffee makes it all better as well first thing in the morning ..
Now that we are up and about so early in the morning I like to do a couple of stretches to get my muscles loose and kick off the day feeling limber and not achey. It was a bit chilly out so I wore my favourite bright top by Lululemon and my stretchy , comfy quick step dance pants by Sweaty Betty. Can’t forget my odd socks!!!
Stretching my sides, hamstrings/lower back and glutes always helps me release tension and keeps injuries at bay. It also gives you a little bit of time to focus and centre yourself. Remember that you don’t need a lot of space or time to give your body some needed TLC.
For a little bit of extra help I use the ultimate survival kit by Scentered. It was recommended to me by my friend, super talented dancer and life coach Camilla Dallerup. They are therapy balms which I apply on my pulse points and then inhale them deeply. It works wonders. My favourite is “Stress Less”. It helps me get through the day with its beautiful ‘feel good’ scent. There’s also “Sleep Well”, “Escape”, “Focus” and “Love” which I simply can’t get enough of.
And off the boat we went to the beautiful city of Valletta, Malta which is located in the central-eastern portion of the island.
It was such a beautiful morning. Kevin and I walked through the gorgeous streets of Valletta who’s nickname is “Superbissima” – meaning “Most Proud”.
We took a couple of selfies!!
And one more with a Cheeky kiss!!
The views were absolutely breathtaking and since it was very early in the morning everything was calm and the temperature was just right!
Kevin giving me his best profile and that jaw line!! Whoop!
It’s not often that we get to go to a city that has so much history. Loved the elements of Mannerist, Neo-classical and modern architecture in some areas though WWII left the city with some scars. But what I found even more intriguing was the Cat Cafe. It was a cat feeding station that also provides shelter for stray cats. There was a small hill full of little boxes with food in them just for the little furry animals. This was absolutely wonderful to see.
I spotted a couple of the cats and started following them around. I don’t think they liked me very much but I still tried. Hehe.
After a couple of hours of wandering around this beautiful city it was time to say goodbye.
I was feeling very grateful to get opportunities like these to travel to beautiful cities and do what I love especially with my hubby.
Start your day with positivity and a little stretch. Let your body warm up before taking on the day. Rain or shine make sure that you find joy in the small things.
