A relaxing break in the Maldives

Hi guys,

It’s been a while but I’ve been hibernating and re-energising myself.

I’ve been up to lots of awesome things lately along with my loving hubby Kevi. I’ll tell you guys more about that later but first….

We’ve just come back from the Maldives. We stayed at the beautiful island of Iru Fushi at The Sun Siyam. It was breathtaking as was the most relaxed Kevin and I have ever felt. The warm weather, the scenery and just having each other to hold, laugh and do absolutely nothing was a real treat.

There’s nothing like having brekkie out by the beach and starting your day with the sun, breeze and the warm ocean at your doorstep.

maldives1To start off here is Kevin wearing a wet suit and goggles. Haha! He always likes to take the spotlight and of course showing off his best “zoolander” pose. He was going snorkelling in style. My Grimsby boy felt right at home with all the fish.
Then there’s me doing exactly what I love to do “ nothing” and just floating about …

Exhibit B

I remember going absolutely bonkers on what to pack for our holiday. So usual of me I packed everything. But the most important article of clothing in my suitcase were my BIKINIS. I practically lived in them over our holidays. Over the years every time we say we are going away either on a cruise, to visit family in NYC-Grimsby or just going down the road from the house, I find it very difficult not to purchase a bikini among many other things. Hi My name is Karen and I’m addicted to Bikinis…It’s almost like a rule for me. Travelling anywhere = purchasing bikinis. Kevin always says to me “you’re buying another one!!?” “ don’t you have like 20 bikinis already?!!”
My response to that is “a girl can never have too many bikinis”.
So, knowing that we were going away for 10 days to this magical island , I went off to do my favourite thing… Bikini shopping..
I purchased these cute crocheted bikini top and bottoms from Victoria’s Secret. This bikini caught my eye because of the colour. I love the colour yellow or anything that says “summer holiday” or “buy me!!” So I did..

I love wearing mismatched bathing suits because is just so much more fun.

You can mismatch and go!! Mix and Match different prints and colours. You can’t go wrong. Either way you’re at the beach and what a way to make a statement with your very own swimsuit style. There are no rules out in the sun…

These two pieces I got from ASOS. The price was reasonable and I was able to get different styles. Go with the unexpected and you will be surprised on how good it looks. It’s all about wearing something that makes you feel good and happy. I really love the flirty tube top and Amazonian print bikini bottom. Remember you don’t have to break the piggy bank to look bikini Glam-fun-fabulous.

Kevin also decided that he needed blue shorts with pink flamingos on. He was feeling a bit left out because of all the fun I was having with my mismatched beach style. So he paired it up with a simple white T-shirt. He was not taking too many risks but at least it was a start. Boy did he turn heads though. It was a fun way for him to express his cheeky and fun beach style.
This is one of my favourite bikini tops by Mara Hoffman. I matched it with a long flowy beach skirt by Seafolly. To finish my look I had braids with a NY Yankees cap and Ray Ban sunglasses. Can never take the New Yorker out of this girl.. The bright colours and prints really made this look work for me as it was very relaxed but at the same time quite tropical, chic and just me..

Holiday season is just around the corner.
Keep it simple and pack things that you are going to enjoy wearing and that it’s not too much of a hassle to match up. Think bright colours, different prints and make it fun to style yourself while you are away. Be comfortable and be happy.

Keep smiling,
