What an exciting week it’s been! Kellie smashed it out the park on Strictly with our Star Wars Charleston and managed 32 points, Jeremy and Karen got 3 7’s for theirs, I won an award for Spectacle Wearer of the Year and it was my birthday!
The Movie Week show on Strictly is always a favourite of mine. The work that goes into it is phenomenal. It’s like a full scale live televised Broadway production over 2 nights. This show I have to say was one the best I’ve ever been a part of. Originally the idea was for Kellie and I to dance to a different movie theme performing a different dance altogether. What got in the way was that I am a massive Star Wars fan. In fact I have been recently re-watching the films in preparation for the new one coming out at the end of the year. When the BBC agreed that we could maybe do Star Wars for Movie Week the lure of wielding a lightsaber and being a real Jedi was too much. It had to happen. Credit goes to Kellie for going along with my crazy plan and committing to it 100%. We were so thrilled with how it went and with the response from the audience and judges alike.
I get more and more proud every week of my wife Karen. At the beginning of the competition Jeremy was one of the odds on favourites to leave first. Skip to week 3 and he’s getting three 7’s for a dance. She seems to prove over and over again what a skilled teacher she is whilst also keeping everything fun. Couple that with Jeremy, who is a seriously hard worker and you’ve got the perfect combination. I have never seen anyone go over and over a routine as much as Jeremy did on Saturday, using every spare minute to practice his steps in the ballroom.
Being a glasses wearer for years I was delighted to be invited to the annual Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards and receive the award for Best Newcomer. I know I’m a geek but getting this award is very exciting for me!!
Talking of being a geek, back to Star Wars….Yes I asked Karen for a lightsaber for my birthday. It hasn’t arrived yet but she’s told me that she’s ordered one!!!!! I can’t wait! I’m 33 now but still act like I’m 8. In the meantime, Karen made me a lovely meal and baked me a birthday cake. She seems to get more and more English every day. She’s even bought a little bell now for the kitchen which she rings when she’s finished cooking and shouts “Time for tea”!
My parents stayed down in London after the show and brought me a nice jacket which I’m sure I’ll be wearing on It Takes Two soon My sister Jo got me a new footie game so I’m all set.
Awesome week :)
