My incredible September!

What a whirlwind month September has been for me. First, I left Southampton and headed for New York on board the luxury Cunard cruise for the second ever transatlantic fashion week. I headlined the event and showcased a collection of my iconic dresses in three fashion shows across the week and took part in a Q&A hosted by my dear friend, the legendary fashion historian, Colin McDowell OBE. The Queen Mary 2 is such a glamorous ocean liner – being the world’s most famous ship I think she was the perfect backdrop for a photoshoot featuring my collection.

I docked in New York just as fashion week was getting into full swing. IMG Models and Etihad airlines hosted a cocktail party in my honour at the NYFW VIP Lounge in the Skylight building. Models sashayed around the room wearing a selection of my dresses while the fashion pack sipped on cocktails, it was a fabulous event.

New York Fashion Week is a marathon of morning-to-evening runway shows, launches, dinners and after parties. It’s non-stop. One of my favourite models and good friend is Hailey Baldwin. She is hugely popular with over 10million Instagram followers. I was thrilled the dress her for the NYFW Art and Commence exhibition, in my black embellished knit mini dress. Model Taylor Hill looked sensational in my sequin one-shoulder mini dress at the Business of Fashion Gala. Actress and model, Praya Lundberg, stole the show in my silver metallic gown at the ARD foundation.

One the most prestigious events during the week is the Harper’s Bazaar Icon’s party. This season the A list crowd were wowed with a performance from The Weekend. Cami Morrone owned the red carpet in my chain fringe mini dress, not to mention Nicole Richie who looked sensational in full-length black embellished knit gown. I have always wanted to dress her, as well as being beautiful, she is the daughter of music legend Lionel Richie. ‘All night long” is one of favourite songs!
Next destination on the fashion calendar was London, so I jumped on a plane and jetted back home to add the finishing touches to my SS18 collection. The fabulous Hailey Baldwin opened my show to a packed audience of international fashion press and celebrities in my mini embellished black knit. I had an army of super models to walk my runway including Martha Hunt, Winnie Harlow, Jasmine Sanders, and Georgia Fowler. Alessandra Ambrosio closed my show wowing the crowd in my Swarovski dusted cobalt blue mini dress. They all brought me out for a dramatic finale – an explosion of lasers and glittering confetti.

I caught up with Alessandra backstage afterwards where we shared a Cîroc cocktail together then posed in the interactive Cîroc lightbox, which was amazing!

Well that’s it from me for now, I look forward to catching soon.

Love Julien
