Showcasing at LA’s Brit Week
I have had a fabulous month showcasing my collections at LA’s Brit Week. Once a year L.A celebrates the creativity and innovation between the UK and the US and invite a British designer to host a fashion show showcasing their collections. This year Brit Week celebrated its 10th Anniversary and so I was honoured to have been asked to represent British fashion at this special event. My LA clientele and customer base is integral to my business; they are the sexy and confident men and women who I have in mind when I design my collections and so even though I love London and London Fashion Week is an incredible experience, I couldn’t wait to bring my SS16 & AW16 to the sunshine.
My show took place at Unici Casa – a super stylish location on Jefferson Bvld. Guests were invited from 6.30pm for red carpet arrival and to enjoy a cocktail reception of course. The atmosphere was buzzing, I love an evening show it brings the glitz and glamour absent in the middle of the day. The show was opened by the amazing Sebastian Kill, performing my favourite track from his new album, Magic. You can download it here https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/magic/id1069698632?i=1069698634
Seats were filled with LA clients, celebrities, influential stylists and US-based buyers, we also had an amazing glam squad backstage with make-up by Nars and Hair by WEN by Chaz Dean.
While out in LA, it was great to stay at the Hotel Shangri-la and meet the fabulous host, Tamie Adaya. The hotel was a stunning art deco building with an amazing rooftop bar – the perfect place to relax and watch the sunset after a long day of show preparations.
Aside from Fashion I have to tell you about my trek across the Sahara Desert for Cancer Research Wales back in April. The trek was 52 miles and took 9 days to complete. 22 of us took part tackling the tough terrain and camping in the Moroccan desert in below freezing temperatures (can you believe it!). The heat in the day however was often unbearable with temperatures reaching over 40 degrees and believe me no training can prepare you for that kind of heat! It was an unbelievable experience for a cause close to my heart and I wouldn’t have been able to get through it without the amazing team spirit. I would recommend it to anyone, and the people you meet along the way are truly inspirational.
After only a short break away from the red carpet I was back doing what I do best, Celebrity dressing. We have recently had the sensational international superstars Gisele Bundchen and Gigi Hadid wearing Julien Macdonald. Gisele wore a stunning liquid sequin look at her book launch in New York, whilst Gigi Hadid looked amazing in a printed mini at her incredible 21st birthday party at Intrigue in Vegas. They both looked incredible, very sexy and very glamorous!
I have lots of exciting events coming up so stay tuned for what’s next!
