A tribute to my Nonna

Yesterday my Nonna passed away. You might think it’s too soon to be writing a post about it, but she’s being buried today. They don’t wait around in Italy. So, with that in mind, I thought I’d take some time to sit and reflect. To think about the wonderful lady she was and tell you a little about her. And she was wonderful. Truly. My 96year old Nonna didn’t speak

Italy with the family!

I know, I know! I’ve not been back from Walt Disneyworld that long, but last week we took another trip away and went to Italy with my dad, my sister Giorgie and her family. May is a fab time to go for us as the weather isn’t too warm and it’s still nice and quiet, meaning it’s a bit more comfortable for the little ones – and this time we

Back to life, back to reality!

We’re now back from Walt Disney World and slowly returning to our normal routines. I’ll be honest, for the first three nights we had at least one of the boys in with us in our bed, thanks to them waking up in the night. They were fine going down because they’d be shattered by the end of the day, but would wake up wanting to be with us. Considering they’d

Radio Silence…

I feel I ought to start with an apology. I’ve been on holiday and before that I was working to a big flipping writing deadline and trying to clear out loads of the house because the building work has progressed into redecorating the areas that haven’t been knocked about in the renovation work. Anyway, all that means is I’ve been shoddy when it comes to all things social media. Blogs,

The Tommy’s awards and a very exciting announcement!

The last time I posted I was telling you why I was excited about hosting the Tommy’s awards. Well, I have since done that and I’m thrilled to say that the whole every was as emotional and special as I hoped it would be. It was so humbling chatting to the people there who’ve been affected by stillbirth or miscarriage and have been helped in some way by the charity.

Getting ready to host the Tommy’s Awards

I’ve recently opened up about having a miscarriage back in 2012. It was difficult to go through as I felt my body had let me down. I felt like such a failure in my first brush with motherhood. I decided not to talk about it publicly at the time as it was something I needed to process on my own. In the last year I’ve seen more people online sharing

Buzz is now THREE!

Because of the book I’ve obviously been looking back a lot to the early days with Buzz. The first time we met where I was taken aback by his sparrow-like tiny frame, crying because he wouldn’t stop crying in his newborn days, my heart melting at him first saying ‘Mama’, the first time he hugged me back, the first time he told me he loved me… it’s hard to believe

Happy Mum, Happy Baby has landed!

I’ve been very open about my nerves over HAPPY MUM, HAPPY BABY finally being published. It’s been emotional to have something so personal making its way onto book shelves and there for people to read. That being said, I’ve also been very excited! Before publication day last Thursday, I was treated to a wonderful launch party in Polpo on Shaftesbury Avenue. The room was filled with my friends, family and

Buddy is ONE!

This week an unexpected, yet highly predictable, thing happened. Buddy turned one. More so than with Buzz, this seems to have really crept up on us. Obviously he’s been getting bigger, become far more agile and is keeping us on our toes a lot more (we’re permanently on our feet ready to catch him or retrieve him from danger) – but still, it seems so sudden for him to have

Motherhood is flipping amazing, but it’s tricky and unpredictable too

Writing books is a pretty isolated experience. Hours, weeks, months are spent in my office staring at my computer screen, with me either talking to myself or spending far too long pondering the best way to describe an action, or emotion. Occasionally I’ll have music on that inspires the particular chapter I’m working on, or sometimes silence is preferred. Every now and then I’ll stare at the screen not knowing
