Audio books aid my BIRTHDAY!
When my editor at Hodder asked if I’d like to record the audio book for HAPPY MUM, HAPPY BABY myself, I leapt at the chance. I’d voiced (is that even the term?!) my two novellas previously, but this was four times the length and much more personal. I guess the fact it’s so ‘me’ is what really led me to agree. I couldn’t imagine anyone else saying the thoughts I’ve shared.
I was astounded with how different it felt when read out loud. Don’t get me wrong, I read every single thing that I’d written on the page, but reading it out loud, knowing people were going to be listening to it, brought it alive in a totally new way and got me even more excited for people to read the book. I’m incredibly proud of it.
This weekend I celebrated turning 32 years old! On Saturday Tom surprised me with tickets to see Dream Girls followed by dinner at The Ivy. The show was brilliant – the cast were amazing, with Amber Riley being nothing short of phenomenal. The Ivy was as delightful as it usually is…
I have been happy to leave the celebrations there, but Tom surprised me the following day by throwing an afternoon tea party with our families and a load of my closest friends. I was incredibly shocked to find them all randomly hidden in a cupboard. It’s not a sight I’ll forget in a hurry.
A quick update on the boys – Buddy now has four teeth and has started taking a few steps. Buzz’s language is coming on at an alarming rate – he’s started saying ‘just this once’ to me when I ask him to do things. He’s hilarious.
Oooh, also this week, aside from the huge book tour I’ve announced, I’m doing a ‘Mum’s Night Out’ event with The Unmumsy Mum in March. All details can be found on my website www.giovannasworld.com/events. I cannot wait!
Have a fab week!
