A New Book and Buzz Joins McFly!
Today I’m announcing a new book of mine, although unlike my previous published work this one is non-fiction and an honest account of being a mum. I’ve been thinking about writing a mum-themed book for quite some time, but it was only after having Buddy that I really discovered what I wanted to share.
When I was pregnant with Buzz I became obsessed with reading ‘mum books’ – the ones with all the tips that tell you the right and wrong ways to parent. I loved them as they gave me an understanding of the task ahead, however what they didn’t highlight was the fact that every child is as different as you and I, and just how utterly rubbish you’d feel if your fresh offspring didn’t help you follow all the rules.
I know I don’t parent to the book, but I’ve realised that no one really does. Through social media I’ve found a great platform to open discussions with other parents. I’ve bonded with a community that accepts the crazy methods of others and understands that we all are just doing what works for us. Because parenting can be challenging enough without feeling like people are constantly judging. Seeing as I write for a living, it made sense to put together an account of my biggest adventure to date. I hope it’ll give other mums and dads confidence in the decisions they’ve made and bring positivity to its readers.
Also this week…
…I took Buzz to a McFly soundcheck in Birmingham. Buzz has been obsessed with watching old DVDs of Tom and the boys for quite some time (Harry is his favourite), so we knew he’d love seeing them up on stage in real life. Buzz was in total awe of the whole thing, but that didn’t stop him getting up on stage and joining them. It was incredibly emotional seeing him up there, jumping along with the boys and singing into the mic. It was such a magical moment – he’s been asking to go again ever since!
…The boys have become more interactive than ever. They won’t stop hugging each other and have even started rolling around in each other’s arms. It’s adorable.
…I received my silver play button from YouTube for hitting 100,000 subscribers! I’m actually at 160k now, but it’s still lovely to have that beautiful display of achievement hanging on my wall.
…I’ve been loving the arrival of autumn! Roll on lots of family walks in the crisp morning air!
Right, I’ve got lots of writing to be getting on with!
Big love to you all!
