We nearly didn’t make it to the Free From Food Awards. Having spent the last six weeks building up to Wednesday’s award ceremony, we managed to get stuck at Vauxhall station, as a fatality on the line stopped all trains from running on the line. A great start to the evening.
So, after rather too much running across London in my L. K. Bennetts, three trains and a taxi ride with a very lovely food journalist, we made it to Kew Bridge Stem Museum, right before the awards presentation started.
Fortunately for us, the stressful journey faded from our thoughts rather quickly once the presentation got underway, as we were fortunate enough to win our category for our Chocolate & Almond Brownie. The awards were hosted by the much-respected champion of Free From foods, Antony Worrall Thompson. Thanks to the heroic efforts of Michelle and Cressida at Foods Matter, it was a great evening and a real celebration of Free From Foods in the UK.
I’ll be back with some more recipes soon. Don’t forget if you would like to see me cook live at the Allergy & Gluten Free Show, you can obtain your free ticket using this link: http://www.allergyshow.co.uk/go/charlottepike
