A slight change from the usual recipe this week, and some news from the Free From food world.
You may be interested to know that the shortlist is out for the Free From Food Awards 2011. The awards are held once a year and are run by the Michelle and Cressida at Foods Matter. You can take a look at the shortlist at: www.freefromfoodawards.co.uk . There are a number of excellent producers of free from foods (large and small) which feature in the shortlist, and may help you find some great new products to try. And even better, my company, Go Free Foods is shortlisted. We will be attending the awards ceremony and will bring you the news from that in a few weeks’ time.
Last week I went along to the launch of Fria in the UK. Fria make several varieties of frozen gluten free breads, rolls and cakes, and their products are best sellers in Sweden, where they are based. A number of their breads have just been launched over in the UK (in John Lewis, Oxford Street & Bluewater) and is so popular; His Royal Highness Prince Daniel of Sweden, Duke of Västergötland popped along to the launch! For those of you trying to follow a low fat gluten free diet, you may be interested to learn that their products are much lower in fat than many of the gluten free breads which are currently widely available in the UK supermarkets.
Another update is that the Allergy & Gluten Free Show will be taking place in Kensington Olympia again this year from 6-8 May. This is a great event at which you can learn more about dealing with food intolerances and discover some new suppliers of Free From foods.
