The Show Continues…

We’re in the Big Apple and the models are still walking…

Today we saw a lot of bright and bold prints, many that were thrown together clashing tops and bottoms. Also ruching seems to be the technique of choice for this year’s display as it is literally everywhere! Also, ladies, make sure and stock up now on knee and thigh high stockings. They are paired with shorts, dresses, jumpsuits and in plain sight for the world to see. School girl rules!

A few disappointments today. I was hoping to come out with a long list from DKNY(below left) and DVF (below right) and was only really moved by one dress for each show. A sad outcome.

But let’s officially start with Derek Lam – a nice presentation and this first dress, I think, would be the perfect addition to Blake Lively’s closet:

Watch this space…I think we will definitely see this nude beauty on a red carpet next year…or sooner!
Now if any of you are regular readers of Fashion Foie Gras you will know that I have had enough of bandage dresses. Every high street addict has four or five of these little numbers in their closet by now. So I wasn’t expecting to like much at the Herve Leger show. However, I stand corrected. Max really pulled it out of the bag and I have since left with a long list for the Spring:

I was also really looking forward to Victoria Beckham’s line but out of twenty pieces there was only one that really caught my eye. Nothing feels new to me here. I don’t think we have seen her full potential yet. She’s just warming up and it’s a wonderful effort but I am looking forward to her really putting herself out there for the world to see. –
Carlos Miele showed a little restraint with colour this year. He continued with vibrant hues but calmed his usually flurry of colour with nudes and blacks to give “clients more diversity.” Carlos, we love it dahling! Here are our favs:

Carolina Herrera put forth a valiant effort on the catwalk with wonderful deep purples and tropical/geometric mix print textiles. One trend the designers seem to be embracing more than ever – shorts with a hip length blazer or chunky knit cinched at the waist with a belt. Herrera’s take on this is noteworthy.

Donna, oh Donna. How I love thee. Donna Karan once again proved herself as a legend in fashion. Who else can showcase hard lined suits with floating fairy like gowns and make it all flow like magic? Plenty of red carpet dresses and working gal suits to go around here.

Sadly, the Marc Jacobs show left me cold. I think this might be the first year ever when I walked away with not even one piece that I would have shelled out for. Maybe he is just having an off season but it seemed like the show was more in place to shock with extreme designs rather than showcase wearable items. I am in New York right, as this show seemed like it was coming from another planet!

Sophie Theallet has been brought into the fashion spotlight by the head diva herself – Michelle Obama! And her designs this season show that Mrs. POTUS has some serious style. Do you think you will see Michelle in any of the following in the coming months? Gorgeous!

Zac Posen’s show was, again, so-so. There was one dress (pink below) that I would kill for to wear to a cocktail party in London and I wonder if he would consider taking the gold flower details down a notch on this dress…if so it would be perfect for a red carpet event…hmmm…
