That was Unbelievable!
Ace had his very FIRST trip to the dentist! I have to say, this is something that I really struggle with but I refuse to let Ace see me become nervous or anxious when I go to the dentist. SO I thought the best thing to do was send daddy for the job!! Before they left I explained to him what was going to happen, as he feels he needs to have an explanation of everything before we go anywhere now – the joys of a nearly three year old discovering and grossly overusing the word “WHY”!! After a lengthy discussion over breakfast, off he went with J. Lucky enough a really good friend of J’s is a dentist now, so I thought it would be a great idea to have Ace get used to someone he already knew.
The account from J:
“He walked in very shy at first and when asked to sit in the chair said, “No, Thank you, I need my mummy”. Dr. Oma, began chatting away and trying to make him as comfortable as possible. He then sat in the big dentist chair refusing to open his mouth on request. However, after being asked if he knows how to roar (and OF COURSE Ace knows how to roar well!), he sits perfectly still, holding my hand with his mouth wide open and Dr. Oma is checking out all his teeth”.
Dr. Oma was very impressed, as apparently, toddlers don’t normally sit in the chair by themselves on their first time. He was then given not 1, but 3 stickers!! A VERY happy Ace walked out of the dentist’s shouting, “Now that was unbelievable”!
I opened the front door on Ace & J’s return and he says, “Mummy, I just had the best time at the dentist with daddy and I got three stickers”! Well my wish had come true, that’s exactly what I wanted and I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience for him! It really is important to have children’s teeth checked at a young age and to make sure you’re brushing them properly and looking after them as they ought to be looked after. Here’s a couple of tips from the NHS website about taking your child to the dentist:
• NHS dental care for children is free.
• Take your child to the dentist when their first milk teeth appear. This is so they
become familiar with the environment and get to know the dentist. The dentist can help prevent decay and identify any oral health problems at an early stage. Just opening up the child’s mouth for the dentist to take a look at is useful practise for the future.
• Take your child for regular dental check-ups as advised by the dentist.
• When you visit the dentist, be positive about it and make the trip fun. This will stop your child worrying about future visits.
One of my favourite events of the year had snuck up on me this week! Bubble London is the UK’s leading children’s fashion trade show and it really is the best place to attend for all the new brands, fashion looks and top new tips from the professionals.
A great friend of ours, Shosh, was running the entire PR around the event and had invited us as a family once again.
There are a few brands that really stood out to me and I want to share them with you.
Firstly, a new brand, Wexbaby, created by a young lady called Ettie, who was a fashion buyer for a top company when she decided to create her own brand. Ettie and her sister are both half French and English and they used to spend a quarter of the year while growing up either in England, Paris or Nice. This is where Ettie’s inspiration came for Wexbaby.
Ettie’s sister, a casual artist, hand draws each design and every item individually. Wexbaby is a French inspired brand created as part of an initiative to encourage children and adults alike to take more of an interested in different languages.
I think this is a great idea and their t-shirts are pretty cool too!
Another great brand that I have recently been introduced to is Maggie & Rose. Maggie & Rose is London’s first, best and most brilliant Family Members’ Club, with a nursery in Chiswick and a pre-nursery in Kensington. They have recently just opened in Hong Kong too. It’s one membership for the whole family and there are loads of different options to deliver fun activities for everyone. This is where Ace and I will be heading this summer and it’s definitely a recommendation from me if you are all trying to think of different things to entertain your children!
Maggie & Rose have a wide range of offerings from camps to cooking, music/dance classes to birthday parties and events. Ace didn’t wait 5 minutes to make himself feel comfortable at their stand!!

I hope you all have a great week and let’s keep our fingers crossed the sun comes to join us!
