Inspiring those around you!
This weekend we received an invitation to the launch of the new Gruffalo ride at Chessington World of Adventures! Chessington is somewhere both J and I used to go to as children!! Ohhhh yes this is definitely one we were going to be attending and I hadn’t even asked Ace yet!! I LOVE the Gruffalo and I also LOVE Julia Donaldson’s books!
We arrived and checked into our hotel room; Ace was sooooo excited to see that he had a bunk bed to sleep in as he walked in! He jumped in straight away, tucked himself up and was ready for mummy and daddy to read The Gruffalo story before sleep time! After an exciting night’s sleep, we all got up early to go and meet the Gruffalo! This is the image I was able to capture on camera as we walked to the meeting spot.
Ace shouts at the top of his voice, “GRUFFALO, please can I have a cuddle”. The excitement on his face was priceless! He went on the ride with his “bestie” Willow Jane, the beautiful daughter of our friend Kimberley Wyatt and although they’re only a few months apart, you can tell the difference between girls and boys at this age!! Ace is tearing around the place, running EVERYWHERE and Willow is composed and looking at me like, “your son is crazy”!! We were privileged to meet Julia Donaldson as she was signing books after the ride and Ace was very impressed with the little mouse that the illustrator, Axel Scheffler, drew while we were there.
We then went on to explore the rest of the park. These two were inseparable and so cute now they’re really starting to communicate together and have their own conversations.
We bumped into other friends on the day – Jodie Kidd and Stacey Soloman, both with their children really turned it into a proper get together! Ace was lucky enough to have his FIRST face painting, something that I was VERY impressed he could actually sit still for! Of course, he was very excited to have it done but I have to say it didn’t stay fresh for very long. A quick picture and then a wipe of the face on his sleeve and needless to say, it didn’t look like a snake anymore!!
This week I was also invited to The Du Boisson Dance Foundation Studios, to watch a year 11 ballet class. The Du Boisson Dance Foundation is a registered charity, which was founded by the former Rehearsal Director of Rambert, Anna du Boisson. Anna has been committed to attracting, training and educating the most talented and passionate dancers and performers, irrespective of their ability to pay for their education. The foundation also supports work in the community, within the field of dance, training and the performing arts, for adults and children alike and it’s a charity that J and I both support.
Class was STUNNING to watch, it sent shivers down my spine and took me right back to my own training. It was so amazing to see what can be achieved at such a young age with discipline, love and excellent talent. It was also lovely to see Anna and I’m very much looking forward to going in and teaching a dance Masterclass with the students in the near future.
On Thursday evening, I had the honour of being a judge for the Bromley Mum’s Awards for the third time! The evening was a huge success! We had a room full of women, celebrating each other for the big or little things they do in their lives, which make a difference to their families, their friends and their communities.
I gave a ‘motivational’ speech at the end of the ceremony but to be honest it was ridiculously hard trying to say something motivational, when there were already so many inspiring people in the room that had motivated me! I believe every mother is doing a fantastic job and should be so proud of themselves for all they do, little or lots because being a mum is one of the hardest jobs in the world. One person I was especially proud of was my gorgeous friend Karlys Thompson. She was nominated for two awards on the night. Her generosity is literally limitless, as is the love she shows to everyone surrounding her. She’s a true ray of light.
All in all, it was a long, fun filled week, with lots going on and this weekend isn’t going to get any less busy as it’s Mothering Sunday! I’m looking forward to a lie in and breakfast in bed… (She wishes!! Haha!).
Have a great week,
