Max Factor and Caroline Barnes’ Olympic Makeup Design

Last week I popped to an Olympic event!! A makeup one! Max Factor and Caroline Barnes have created the official ‘Sports Chic’ makeup design for the London 2012 Victory Ceremony podiums, and this is it..well half of it!

Caroline shared her tips on creating the ‘Sports Chic’ beauty look:

Start with a flawless, glowing base by using Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation. To perfect blemishes where you need extra coverage or for top up perfection, use Max Factor Miracle Touch Foundation

Add a touch of Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush across your cheekbones towards your hairline to create a sophisticated glow

Next, use Max Factor Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel to add definition to your brow. The brush on the end will help shape your brows and remove any excess foundation

Use Max Colour Effect Trio Eye-shadow in Coco Crazy to play with light and dark tones. Place the darkest tone in the socket for wide eyes, or underneath the lower lashes to make small eyes bigger

Use Liquid Effect Pencil in Violet Voltage on the outer corners of the top and bottom lashes; blend outwards with the rubber end to create a feline shape to your eyes

Add Masterpiece Colour Precision Eyeshadow to the inner corner of the eye to add a beautiful light and brightness to the eye

Gorgeous isn’t it?

Caroline did a fabulous demo and has created a look that is really easy to achieve, even though she is still desperately trying to show me where my cheekbones are!!! Even after all these years looking in the mirror, I still can’t find them!!

So what do you think to Sports Chic? I am going to create it at home soon and I’ll show you.

Model Co Fibre Lash Brush On False Lashes

Seriously impressed with these brush on lash extensions from Model Co.

Model Co fibre Lash Brush On False Lashes
Model Co fibre Lash Brush On False Lashes

It is one of those products that does exactly what it says on the tin!

It comes in this snazzy 2 pack endorsed by none other than Dannii Minogue, who is the product’s ambassador.

Here is one eye done and the other not. Can you spot which is which?!? This was my first go and a super quick application so I think I can achieve even more impressive results than this if I spent I tiny bit more time.

So this is how it works. There are 2 products. The first is the Extension Mascara and the second is the Lash Fibres.

You start off by coating the lashes with with the extension mascara. This is a super light coat. Excuse the blood shot eyes. I don’t get as much sleep as I’d like!

You then grab the Lash Fibres - they look like this!

And then brush them on top of the first coat of mascara. Looks weird doesn’t it?!

You then follow with another coat of the Extension Mascara and look! Lovely fluttery lashes with that real lash extension look. I would choose these over actual lash extensions any day!

They wash off really easily and didn’t cause any irritation. Fabbie!!

I shall be saving this for special occasions as it costs £35, but if I was rich I would be whacking this on every day! My boyfriend couldn’t get over how long my lashes looked!

Daniel Sandler Kabeauti Brush Review

Daniel Sandler Kabeauti Brush
Daniel Sandler Kabeauti Brush

This big brush from Daniel Sandler is my new secret weapon in achieving flawless finish with my base products.

You know how sometimes when you first apply foundation it can actually accentuate enlarged pores rather than disguise them, well this fabbie brush totally sorts out that problem!

Now I can pretty much slap on whatever foundation, BB cream or tinted moisturiser I fancy, then buff it in with this brush to get the most blended beautiful finish.

The first pic is with foundation applied with my fingers:

And this photo I have quickly gone over the foundation in a circular buffing motion with the Daniel Sandler Kabeauti Brush.

It is a subtle difference in the photo, but much more noticeable in the flesh.

If you like to set your base with powder then this brush is fantastic for this too, as its combination of both natural and synthetic fibre pick up the right amount product to make sure you don’t over powderIt’s fab for bronzer for this reason too.

I love it!! It costs £26 and you can check it out here.

Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura

Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura
Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura

Very exciting news - shu uemura will be collaborating on an exclusive collection with the king of all collaborators fashion designer, Karl Lagerfeld for Christmas 2012!

Keep reading to see pictures of the two legends of fashion and beauty together.

Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura
Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura
I’m told that Karl Lagerfeld and Mr. Uemura were friends for over 20 years, before  Mr. Uemura’s death in 2008, and both greatly valued each other’s work. Apparently Karl has been using shu uemura pressed eye shadows to sketch with for many years!

He said: “I love sketching in the morning. When I go to sleep, I always put my pens and papers next to my bed. I use shu uemura eye shadow [to] sketch, since shu uemura has fantastic colors. I design with shu uemura make-up because other manufacturers do not offer such beautiful colors.”

So it seems entirely natural to create this collection in homage to shu uemura. The collection’s colours and packaging have been designed entirely by Karl Lagerfeld and it launches in November 2012 worldwide. Exciting!!

BB Creme: Dior Hyrdalife

I was so excited to try the new BB creme from Dior. I love the idea of BB creams (Blemish Balm, skin-perfecting all-in-one makeup) and I am already a massive Dior makeup fan, so I was expecting to be impressed. It also contains SPF 30 which I believe is essential, so it ticks that box straight away.

BB creme Dior
Dior Hydralife BB Creme

And yes! I love it. It provides excellent coverage and really evens out my skin tone, whilst still allowing my skin to show. The above photo is just the Dior Hydralife BB Creme and no other base products. I didn’t feel the need for any additional concealers or highlighters.

The finish is gorgeously glowy and lasts very well, even in the heat. These factors, along with its broad spectrum sun protection, make it my perfect choice for a summer’s day.

It also contains the Dior Hydralife moisturising and age-defying serum, as well as the new Botanical Mallow water, which stimulates cell renewal and enhances radiance.

Apart from the fact that it makes my skin look gorge, it really is a hard working product!

It comes in one shade which does look a little orange as I first apply it on my skin, but once I warm it up and work it in, it adapts well to my skin tone and adds subtle warmth.

I used the warm green shade from my Dior 5 Couleurs Garden Edition Eye Palette – Garden Pastels 441. I love it. I have used it smokily (is that a word?!) here but you can really zing it up!

And on my lips, one of my fave Dior Lip Glosses of all time, Lip Polish Smoothing Lacquer in 003. I love it so much that it’s nearly empty and I haven’t finished a lip product in a long time!

Illamasqua Eurydice Lipstick

Illamasqua Erydice Lipstick
Illamasqua Eurydice Lipstick

Oh my goodness, I am completely in love with this Illamasqua lipstick, shade Eurydice, from the Spring Summer 12 Human Fundamentalism collection at ASOS.

It is super vibrant, really long lasting and perfectly matte without being too drying. I have fairly dry lips anyway and still got on very well with this formula.

Literally everyone I saw yesterday asked me what shade I was wearing! It costs £15.50 at ASOS.

Do you like a bright lip?

Melvita Extra Gentle Body Scrub

This is one of the yummiest, gentlest, most nourishing yet super effective body scrubs I have used. It is absolutely lovely!

Melvita Extra Gentle Body Scrub
Melvita Extra Gentle Body Scrub

There are lots of reasons I love this scrub.

The first thing you notice about it is that it smells totally delicious. Responsible for this are its super yummy ingredients which include sugar cane, orange peel and apricot. Imagine the sweet zestiness! The  ’spot on’ balance of sweet and citrus makes it so refreshing!

Melvita Extra Gentle Body Scrub
Melvita Extra Gentle Body Scrub

The texture is perfect to do the job in hand well. The exfolitating ‘bits’ (technical eh?!) are big enough to tackle the dead skin and smooth enough not to scratch the new skin. The jelly base is lovely and sticky which means a blast from the shower isn’t going to wash it away before you have properly got to work with massaging it into the skin.

The best thing about it is that it is really very gentle, does not irritate my skin in the slightest and is very moisturising too. It is so gentle in fact that I have used immediately after hair removal (tested with shaving, home waxing and hair removal cream!!) and I have had no reaction. Excellent for a girl that’s always in a rush and can’t wait to get everything done. I have even gone in with fake tan straight after as it leaves skin super smooth and ready for tan.

A perfect scrub in every way – it is £16 for 200ml, check out Melivta online here. Oh and just so you know, Melvita’s entire range if certified organic.

Have you tried any Melvita yet?

Summer Shopping

When I went on my recent spa trip I had a slight anxiety attack (!) beforehand about stripping down by the pool. So I did some bikini panic buying to minimise the risk of looking awful! This is the little number I picked from Beach Cafe.

OndadeMar Bikini - Beach Cafe
OndadeMar Bikini – Beach Cafe

It’s a gorgeous bikini from luxury swimwear designer OndadeMar which is currently on sale reduced from £136 to £99. It is fairly pricey for a bikini but you can totally see and feel the difference in quality. It was uber flattering. This is probably the first and last time you will see me in so few clothes! Although as I have no head and legs, I don’t suppose it really matters!

I would have posted this review a while ago but I have been massively dithering about whether to include that photo or not! Oh well, it’s done now! It has some gorgeous detail on it and FYI, it washes up in the machine really well.

I also went for some cute flip flops from Beach Cafe for use poolside that could also double as summer footwear.

Tkees Flip Flops - Beach Cafe

They were super comfy and looked really pretty (£42).

The service from Beach Cafe was incredible. When I ordered, I selected the standard service which costs £2 and promises delivery within 2-3 days. My beautiful box, however, arrived the very next day with my things wrapped in pretty tissue.  I shall be keeping the box for more makeup storage!

And now I am all set for my Summer holidays too!!

Beach Cafe have a brilliant selection of swimwear and accessories. Check them out here.

Are you a new bikini a year girl, or do you dig out your old faves? My collection is growing!

Imagine Spa Trip!

Last weekend I had the absolute pleasure of conducting a spa review for Imagine Spa. It’s a hard life!! My man and I jumped in the car and stuck Orton Hall Hotel Peterborough in the Sat Nav. Exciting!

I really like the Imagine Spa ethos. It is all about flexibility you simply book an amount of spa time and then choose your spa treatments when you arrive. No pressure to decide before hand!

We had a lovely welcome with a good cup of  mint tea while we filled out our registration forms. The staff were delightful.

Our robes and towels were waiting for us. We couldn’t find free sun beds at first but the lovely Imagine Spa girls quickly made some available and we were well on our way to relaxation. So we lounged on super comfy sunbeds right by the bubbling jacuzzi.

We had a long lay down. It was really warm in a gorgeous hypnotic way. I drifted in and out of sleep. Perfect!

We had a gorgeous lunch (yummy club sandwich) and then later went for a dip in the pool, a sauna and a steam. Seriously relaxing.

I zonked out by the pool again and was woken when it was time to go for our Mud Serail Treatment. This part was really great because the staff come and find you when it’s time for your appointments. No boring clock watching or staying awake!

The Mud Serail Treatment was serious messy fun. You sit in a chamber with 2 seats facing each other and after you’ve applied your mud (we did each others backs) you sit back and relax whilst the programme takes you through a steam, a tropical mist and then a refreshing rain shower….twice. It was fab.

We then showered off and flopped back on to our sunbeds. I fell asleep again!!!

I was then woken in time for my hour long anti- ageing facial which was totally amazing. I’m slightly embarrassed to admit that I actually fell asleep again during the treatment! Is this some kind of  narcolepsy?! Or maybe this is what relaxation feels like! Not sure as I am generally rubbish at being relaxed!

I opted for a fab facial and scalp massage with a brilliant mask that contained nettle extract. It really woke my face up. I loved it and my skin was glowing after.

We then retreated to the hotel room got ready and hit the pub that was attached to the hotel for dins and drinks. Obviously the advice was to avoid alcohol after my treatment, but we were having too much fun. Naughty!

We had such a brilliant time! I would thoroughly recommend Imagine Spa for full-on, no pressure relaxation. They do some really good deals too, so chances are you can pick up a bargain!

 For more information visit imaginespa.co.uk.

Have you been to a spa recently?
