Eugenia Silva (born in Madrid, Spain, on 13 January 1976) is Spain’s most internationally-recognised model who she has been the face of both Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta. Eugenia also graduated in Law from Madrid’s Complutense University
Eugenia Silva’s’s first contact with the world of fashion was in 1992, when she was 16. She won the Elite Look of the Year Award which heralded the start of her career in fashion. Eugenia grew up in a family of jurists, as the niece of Antonio Hernández Mancha, and she herself graduated in Law at the Colegio Universitario Cardenal Cisneros, affiliated to Madrid’s Complutense University.
Eugenia’s career took off when she moved to New York since she was chosen to be the face of Oscar de la Renta. With more than 100 appearances on the covers of international fashion magazines, such as Harper’s Bazaar, Telva, Elle, k Claire, Glamou and Vogue, she has worked with some of the most renowned photographers in the world, including Mario Testino, Steven Meisel, Arthur Elgost, Bruce Weber, David Bailey and Gilles Bensimon. As well as modelling on the catwalk for Giorgio Armani, Prada, Versace, Galiano, Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Elie Saab and Carolina Herrera, among others.
Her business projects
Eugenia has also ventured into the business world with BRAVEN Films, a production company she founded in 2010 together with Frida Torresblanco (who produced Pan’s Labyrinth, directed by Guillermo del Toro and winner of 3 Oscars).
She has just acquired Can Toni, a bar on the island of Formentera which opened in May 2011 and is located in El Pilar de la Mola, serving traditional island dishes, decorated in the local style, and selling jams and Iberian ham and other pork products from the estate owned by Miguel Bosé. In addition she owns a country estate in Extremadura, Spain, devoted to the farming Iberian pigs.
Eugenia Silva has been involved in a number of charity projects throughout her professional career. She is an ambassador for Fundación Plan (http://plan-espana.org), an NGO that works to improve the lives of children in 49 countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia.
