My Meet Up with Meghan Trainor & Mark Ronson

aj1

Chart topping, Grammy Award nominated,All About That Bass singer, Meghan Trainor thinks that my face is symmetrical. How do I know? Because she told me so when we met at the Mondrian London for a chat this week. I was interviewing her for a TV show on ITV2 called The Hot Desk and Trainor revealed all about what it’s like to be a global superstar, her favourite song and working with Harry Styles. She was genuinely lovely, and also completely bonkers (which I love) as she names the “good and bad” sides of her face. (FYI, her good side is called Jessica and her bad is Cassandra). I don’t know what she’s harping on about though, both sides of her face look good to me. Tune into ITV2 this Sunday at 11:20am to find out everything else we chatted about and of course, that Bass.

aj2

I joined Dizzie Rascal, Tom Odell, Eliza Doodlittle and Annie Mac at the BBC Studios in London this week, to attend a party hosted by Mark Ronson. It was to celebrate the launch of his brand new album, Uptown Special and I certainly got my Uptown Funk on. The event was sponsored by Skincare genius’s Kiehl’s who gave me a pre-party pamper kit so I arrived feeling fresh as! Thank blooming goodness I was fresh as things got sweaty in there when Ronson did his thang on the decks playing funk, soul, grime and hip-hop music mixed with his own smash hits. It just so happened that I’d learnt a dance routine toUptown Funk with SOS Fitness Dance the week before http://blog-static.hellomagazine.com/ajodudu/2015/01/19/fun-fitness/ so naturally it took all of strength to refrain from bursting into my routine when he played that track. Pat on the back to me for keeping it cool.

aj3

If you’re feeling the January blues or you’ve not quite made it to the gym but feeling like you should, then pop over to my YouTube channel where I show you how to work up a sweat in your living room with great workouts for lean legs, flat abs, meal ideas and fun fitness challenges to keep all motivated as we creep towards the end of January. If you do fancy venturing out though, try this for size. I pitched up at London Brunch Club, a running crew that meet weekly to traverse London Town and end it with a good Sunday brunch. We took in the sites and racked up an impressive 12 miles at the same time. I’m definitely up for doing that again as it combines exercise, food and a good old natter. Three of my favourite things.

aj4

As always tune into my Hoxton Radio show from 2pm today where you can listen to more on the above, great tunes and my dulcet tones for 2 hours. See you there!

Fun fitness

aj1

When H&M invited me to do a dance class with them and SOS (Seen On Screen) I jumped at the chance. I’ve read all about SOS who create and teach dance routines inspired by the the biggest pop stars (some of which they have actually worked with) to help you get fit whilst having bags of fun. It was to celebrate the launch of H&M’s new fitness range which includes matching co-ords, funky sports bras and a range of trendy outdoor gear for hiking. The prices are pretty snazzy too.
aj2
With SOS you can learn how to dance like pop stars such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kylie, Britney Spears or in in my case, Bruno Mars, which is genius! I worked up a sweat by sticking out my bottom, flicking my hair in the wind machines, strutting and twerking for an hour straight. Not to mention all the smiling and laughing I did which, if you ask me, is a workout in itself. It was so much fun and I can still remember the dance routine…(well, at least half if it). After gyrating to Uptown Funk with a load of sassy ladies I stepped behind the wheels of steel for a quick spin myself. Britney medley anyone?!
aj3
Cold weather can discourage even the most motivated exercisers. All too often I have wanted to hide under my warm, cosy duvet and dodge the outdoors like the plague so how I was convinced to workout in -5C I’ll never know. Yes, you read correctly, I took to the Ice Bar London to exercise  in -5C first thing in the morning, so if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to exercise in a freezer, you’re about to find out.No prizes for guessing that it was pretty chilly to begin with but with Fitness First winter workout experts on hand throughout, I successfully avoided frost bite and hyperthermia. I didn’t however avoid fatigue as I star jumped, squatted and lunged my way to warmth within seconds. 40 minutes in extremely cold conditions made for a very challenging workout like no other but the theme of frosty fitness is certainly going to continue into next month as I take part in Cancer Research’s Winter Run. There’s going to be snow zones, ice caves and even Polar bear hugs at the finish line so if anyone in London wants to conquer the cold with me in aid of Cancer Research, get yourself signed up.
aj4
As always be sure to check out my YouTube channel for the latest in fitness fashion, short workouts and diet tips and and tune into London’s Hoxton Radio today, which you can listen to live online from 2-4pm. I’ll be playing my pop favorites and revealing who I’ve been stalking on Instagram. Naturally.Until next week, Tarah!AJ

Into the Woods and Into the Fitness

aj1
I joined Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Emily Blunt and our very own James Cordan in Mayfair London this week for the UK Gala screening of Into The Woods. The musical film cleverly weaves in and out of my favourite fairytale stories of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood, who all end up in the woods together. If only a bunch of A-Listers really were belting out tunes in my local woods. I’d be straight in there!
aj2
Isn’t it annoying when you wake up on a Monday morning to find that you’ve eaten your entire stash of chocolate in one sitting and scoffed nothing but pizza all weekend? Whoops! It happens to the best of us but say R.I.P to your Terry’s Chocolate Orange filled tummy and head over to my YouTube channel because there, you can find out how to beat that binge and get slim, toned, and active every day this month. I am sharing daily fit tips in a series called Fitness Takeover where there’s nothing but positive vibes. This week I shared motivational tips, gave easy weight loss advice, flaunted my fitness wardrobe, revealed my gym bag essentials and of course, exercised. So whether you’re a fitness freak or a complete workout novice, there’s something for everyone.
aj3
And finally, after a two month hiatus I will be blasting my dulcet times done a mic at Hoxton Radio today for my debut, weekly Monday radio show. Every week, I’ll be presenting all the best UK chart music, sharing my weekend anecdotes and featuring special guests. Today I will be revealing my musings on the world of the internet including who I’ve unashamedly been stalking on Instagram, playing my Old Skool Anthem of the day whilst spinning a whole host of great tunes to kick off the week. So join me today and every Monday from 2pm-4 only on Hoxton Radio.
Until next week, tarrah.

Hello 2015!

Hello 2015!

AJ1

What a super fun year 2015 was. Through my work as a TV Presenter and as a DJ at various shows and events, I got to meet some of my celebrity faves! I won’t forget the moment I met Queen Kardashian or the time I joked around and took selfies with Emma Thompson. I enjoyed dining with Kim Cattrall and who’d have thought that I’d have met 12 Years A Slave star, Chiwetel Ejiofor in Barbie world? It’s a funny old life but hello 2015.

aj2

Oh yes, it’s that time of year when Christmas is a fading memory and all you’ve got left to show for it is an empty wallet, a bigger belly and the remnants of a stinking hangover. It’s back to the office and time for that annual detox and time again, to reinvent yourself…or is that just me?

AJ3

As you may have gathered from previous blog posts, in my spare time fitness plays a huge role in my life, so much so that I’ve recently become a qualified personal trainer and sports nutritionist. I mean hey, why not? (Also on my list of things to become are a cheerleader, astronaut, BFFs with Beyonce Knowles and a dog whisper). Dream big!

This year I’m kicking off 2015 by trying something a little different. The aim is to keep myself motivated and fit but more importantly, to inspire others to do the same.  So for the month of January I’m showing daily videos on all things fitness over on my YouTube channel.

This will include, diet and workout tips, weight loss advice and ideas on what to wear when getting sweaty. Whether you’re taking your first steps to lead a healthier lifestyle or if you’re a well seasoned gymaholic, there’ll be something for everyone. And while I’m at it, if you’re looking for some funky gymwear to get you in the active mood whilst treating yourself at the same time, then check out my video below.

Here we go!

Merry Fitmas everybody!

Merry Christmas!
aj1
Ho ho ho Merry Christmas! If you hadn’t already noticed I love Christmas jumpers and this year I could feed my addiction guilt free because for every Primark Christmas jumper sold in any store, Primark was donating £2 to charity, Make A Wish. Plus it was Christmas jumper day for charity, Save the Children. As you can see I used that as the perfect excuse to go wild! I have more Christmas jumpers than you can shake a stick.
Fitting really, as the office parties are in full swing, festive adverts are all over the box, and we just can’t stop Instagramming those Starbucks red cups so it’s safe to say that the yuletide season is here in full force. I cannot wait to kick back and relax with a plate full of turkey and sprouts and this year is set to be better than ever as I’ve just successfully completed a gruelling course at The Training Rooms, where I’ve been learning all about health, fitness and nutrition. I’ve always been a bit of geek when it comes to health and vitality and feel it’s really important, which is why I wanted to take it one step further and get some industry know how.
After weeks of swotting up I am now a fully qualified fitness professional and sports nutritionist (wahoo!) so expect a bit more fitness chat from me in the New Year and on my YouTube channel. Let me tell you, mince pies should not be on the menu this Christmas (although obviously they are) but I’ve been earning my over-indulgences in the lead up to Christmas at Fitness First. 10 push ups a day will be keeping my bingo wings at bay and it may be cold outside, but in doors at the gym there’s a rainbow.
aj2
Outside of the gym there was an AJ shaped poser, as I was flexing with SportStylist.com, for an exclusive Nike Women, street style photo shoot called “How I Style It”. I’ve shot with Sport Stylist before and love that it’s a platform for women to receive style updates on sportswear and also to shop for sports products. I was chuffed to be modelling for them in outfits that I’d styled so here’s a behind the scene, sneaky peak.
aj4
aj3
And on that Christmas and fitness note, it’s a tarrah from me.
Merry Fitmas!

Meeting Chiwetel Ejiofor and Sandy from Gogglebox

aj1
I got the full Barbie experience at the Barbie Loves Wildfox pop-up event at Selfridges in London this week. Yes, that’s right, everyone’s favourite Malibu babe and LA based label Wildfox joined forces to create some Barbie-inspired outfits, which, let’s face it, is every girl’s dream. I got to finger through the fun and retro, 80’s collection and with all that music, cocktails and clothes galore I couldn’t help but yelp “come on Barbie let’s go party!”
Life in plastic, really is fantastic as I also bumped into the BAFTA Award winning star of 12 Years a Slave Chiwetel Ejiofor, who can be my Ken any day and people don’t usually like being put in a box, but hey, if it’s a life-sized Barbie box then I’m in. Literally.
aj2
Back in the real world, Black Beauty and Hair Magazine held their annual award ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in London to celebrate the industry’s super star hair stylists of 2014. I got the chance to show off my new ombre blue tresses as I presented the award for Colourist of the Year to Natalie Joseph of hair salon Hype Coiffure and lucky old me even bumped into Gogglebox favourite Sandy, who is as much a hoot in person as she is on the telly. I’d share a takeaway with her any day.
aj3
aj4
From one TV fave to another, I’ve been as hooked as ever to this year’s I’m a Celeb – still not over Gemma Collins walking out (why?!). People often strive to turn what they love into a career and this week I did just that as I got to chat all things I’m a Celeb on a new ITV2 show coming out this week. The show will be showcasing the best of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, giving an affectionate look back at the highlights and lowlights of the series.
aj5
In other news, word on the street suggests Kate Middleton gets her royal duty ready skin by getting an OxyJet facial treatment so I popped down to Clinica Fiora in Covent Garden to give it a go. I’ve filmed the whole thing and put it on my YouTube channel so that you too can get the royal treatment.
Until next time, tarrah!

My week with Kim Cattrall, Rebecca Adlington and Stooshie

aj1
This week I headed to Liverpool to host the Collective Honours Awards with former Xtra Factor presenter and stand up comedian, Matt Richardson. The awards ceremony was organised by arts and style magazine, The Collective and attended by the cast of Hollyoaks including mega babes Georgie Porter and Stephanie Davis as well as the gorgeous former TOWIE star Charlie King. It was lovely to be part of such a great show and eat some proper gravy but it was even better to present Sex And The City star Kim Cattrall with the International Arts Icon award. She posed for the cameras, gushed about being back in her city of birth, and joked about following a raffle. Arh Cattrall, I love you but… I love me more.
aj2
Speaking of love, I adore strong, independent women and this week I was in a room full of them at the Sunday Times & Sky Sports Women of the Year Awards which left me feeling more motivated than ever! Judy Murray, Victoria Pendleton and Baroness Tanni Grey Thompson were just a handful of sassy women there to make me feel tip top, not to mention the inspiring stories from athletes. All the winners and nominees are a tribute to hard work, talent, total dedication and women. Girl power! Chatting to the lovely and very funny Rebecca Adlington made me feel as though I should nip down to my local swimming baths, dive into the deep end and get fit in true, splashing style. I should probably learn to swim first though so… arm bands at the ready.
aj3
There was also a swanky Sony Xperia party that I went to which had great music, MIC stars, synchronised swimmers and I got to catch up with the sexy girl group, Stooshie.
aj4
It’s no wonder I’m a bit sleepy today. Join me back here next week when I’ll have more energy and follow my adventures on Twitter and Instagram.
Tarrah for now!

Band of Skulls and Motel Rocks Rocking the Party

aj1
This week I attended fashion retailer the Motel Rocks Christmas party (Yep, that’s right, I dropped the ‘C’ bomb). The great thing about Christmas parties is not only the merry songs and festive nibbles, but it’s the one time of year that I get to dress unashamedly like a disco ball!
As we’re still in November, I thought I’d play down my love for sequins-on-sequins by wearing a leather waistcoat over my embellished frock. I shook my sparkly shimmy to the old school sounds of Ja Rule and TLC to Zara Martin’s amazing DJ set and left the party knowing that Motel Rocks the party! Check out my website for some hot as hell party looks.
aj3
Carrying on the rock theme, I’m not usually a Friday night gig-goer but I just couldn’t resist seeing Band of Skulls at Hammersmith Apollo. With big sounds throughout, their bluesy Americana rock had me head banging and occasionally dipping my toes into the mosh pit.
The stomping sounds of Sweet Sour and Hoochie Coochie got the crowd swaying (drunkenly) in unison and flinging pints of cider all over the place (including in my hair, eek!). I was rocked to the core and had a blast even if it was a little sweaty at times.
aj2
Things have been heating up this week in The Training Room - the one stop shop to learn about all things fitness, health and vitality. To get me in the zone I’ve been wearing trainers and Lycra way more than usual and as it’s such an interesting course. I’ll be sharing all my fitness and nutrition discoveries with you on my website and YouTube channel so make sure you check it out.
Until next week, tarrah!

Keeping Up with The Kardashians

aj1

Kim and Khloé Kardashian graced our humble shores for the UK Hairfinity launch at Il Bottaccio this week. There was a plethora of famous faces including Marvin and Rochelle Hulmes, Neon Jungle and Nick Grimshaw who DJ’ed at the event too. Also keeping up with the Kardashians were Arielle Free, Charlotte De Carle, Ashley James, Matt Richardson and Lilah Parsons and I must say, everyone was on top form! There was fizz, tubs of Hairfinity vitamin tablets everywhere and a much talked about Kim Kardashian lookalike. Sadly I didn’t get a picture of Kim’s doppleganger but I did get a picture with the real deal. Thank goodness I didn’t have a nip slip in this royal blue dress. BTW, Kim said she really likes my shoes so I’m practically part of the family right?
aj2
Another fun soirée was Tatler’s Little Black Book launch party at Home House, London. I went with my friend Arielle Free so as well as tasty food, lovely drinks and amazing music, there was also lots of laughs because Arielle (a bit like me) is completely off her rocker. We were equally amused that on one of the walls in the main rooms is a giant photograph of Dr Dre amply positioned in between President Obama and Bill Clinton. We also saw Ricky from Eastenders looking rather dapper with even better looking mates. Did we bellow out “Ricky!” in a Bianca-esque manner to the man that is not actually called Ricky in real life?! Course we did! We’re classy like that and I had a shiny on to prove it.
aj3
In other news, as I love health and fitness, working out regularly, I’m giving my brain a workout too at The Training Room. Follow my fitness journey on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube as I literally go back to school for the next 6 weeks.
For now though, tarrah!

Seeing Stars at Interstellar Premiere and One Direction’s Niall at Halloween Bash

aj3
Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Matthew McConaughey braced the wet great, British weather to attend the premiere for space movie Interstellar this week and so did I! It was worth getting my hair wet to see Hathaway looking beautiful and legendary actor Michael Caine in real life. I watched the film whilst scoffing popcorn behind Union J and thanks to the gigantic screen, their quiffs didn’t get in the way. Good job, as the film was gripping, bold and (at just under 3 hours long), bum-numbing. All of my favourite scenes are spoilers so just brace your derrière and see it for yourself. Check out what I wore to grace the blue carpet on the fashion page on my website.
aj4
From one dressy affair to another, I dusted down my leotard and staggered in a zombie like fashion to a spooky soiree at Gilgamesh, London, dressed as The Black Swan to celebrate Halloween. The party featured blood red cocktails, spine chilling costumes and the most sinful champagne. Celeb spot of the night? Niall from One Direction dressed as a Zombie footballer. Spooky! There were performers and the music was a devilish delight. The next day looked well scary but Sunday came good as I did a fitness photo shoot for SportSylist.com.
aj2
SportStylist.com is a platform for women to receive style updates on sportswear and shop for sports products and as a self confessed fitness freak, I’m chuffed to be a part of their website relaunch. I got to hang out with strong, inspirational woman all day, eye up and wear some of the best active wear and as a fitness shoot it was all “Lights. Camera. Annnnd LEAP” which was right up my street. Here’s a behind the scene sneaky peak.
