Hanging with Clean Bandit and Russell Kane in Ibiza

aj2
Hello!
After a jam packed 6 weeks of travelling around Europe and America with Malibu Rum to film a series of YouTube videos for their #bestsummerever project, it’s now time to say farewell to endless, fun activities, glorious weather, sun cream and flip-flops. Yep, I fly back to London today and what a great send off this week has been.
aj5
I’ve paddle boarded, watched beautiful sunsets and seen a whole wonder world of marine life whilst snorkelling in Ibiza.
aj1
I was reunited with my pals model Ashley James and comedian Russell Kane to dance to Ella Eyre, Clean Bandit and Fatboy Slim at Ibiza Rocks and I even raved to an exclusive DJ set from Idris Elba at Pikes Hotel.
aj4
Needless to say I’m still giddy with excitement thinking about all the amazing things I’ve done. You can watch it all on the Malibu Rum YouTube channel. Now bring on the excess luggage fee. I’m coming home!

I’m in Miami, beach!

aj1
Parasailing, kayaking, salsa lessons and sipping out of coconuts on Miami beach?! Done. This week the sun has been kissing my skin in Miami and it’s been my best smooch yet!

aj-car

Sure, I’ve been sweating so much I thought I would melt and yes, I’ve got a tonne of itchy mosquito bites, but cruising down Ocean Drive and around the Design District, Will Smith style in convertible cars whilst soaking up the beautiful rays has been priceless.

aj3
I tried salsa (the dance not the food) and I can confirm that snake hips I have, co-ordination?! Well, that needs to be seen to be appreciated.

See for yourself by watching my Nomadic adventures on Malibu Rum’s YouTube channel and stay up to date with all my tweets and pictures on Instagram and Twitter (I promise not to intentionally make you jealous… key word, intentionally). Next stop is Rome. See you there.

Ciao for now!

My adventures in Eastern Europe before I hit Miami

aj1

This week I’ve traversed the peaks of Poland on the gorgeous Tatra mountains which where so high I may as well have been up in the sky. I could have easily stayed there but my feet had to touch the gorgeous grounds of Budapest and I can confirm that I’ve got happy feet.

aj2

Whilst here I’ve soaked in the largest bath house in Europe, bought traditional Hungarian clothes in Ecseri market, taken a rickshaw across the Dunabe River and gawped at the House of Parliament. I’ve hung out in derelict buildings that have been artistically transformed into Kerts, eaten on rooftop bars and met a man dressed as a brick wall!

aj3

Needless to say there’s loads of nooks and crannies to explore here in Budapest and filming here with Malibu Rum has been amazing. Now  please can someone call Will Smith and tell him I’m coming to Miami? I can’t wait.

Until next week, tarrah.

Hot air ballooning in Poland!

Sand boarding in Germany, Segways in Prague, hot air ballooning in Poland and a night spent on an indoor tropical island. You name it, this week I’ve done it. Yep. I’m still enjoying being a wanderer with Malibu Rum and I’m currently in Poland.

aj-pool-z

Usually, aeroplanes are more my thing so I never thought I’d take a flight on a hot air balloon and the panoramic views of Poland are so breathtaking that at times I thought I was looking at a painting. It really has been fun although next time I go skiing down sand slopes, remind me to take full advantage and build a sand castle at the bottom please?

You can enjoy the highlights of my trip by visiting Malibu’s YouTube channel. You can also keep up to date with what I’m wearing, the music I’m listening to and more information about the exciting things I’m doing on my website, ajodudu.com. Today my musical palette is devouring Angel Haze, Solange Knowles, HAIM, Joe Goddard, Shy Girls and Mortal Orchestra. Try it!

Tarrah for now,

AJ Odudu

Live from Munich for Malibu rum’s ‘Best Summer Ever’ project!

Guten tag!

Today I’m bringing you this blog live from Munich as I’m travelling around Europe and America over the next 6 weeks, courtesy of Malibu rum for their ‘Best Summer Ever’ project. I’m with a bunch of cool people, namely Laura Steel, Matt Harris, Haley Bishop and Andy Greene. We don’t usually look like a pop group (but I sort of wish we did).

aj2

So far I’ve been whisked along the River Thames in a speed boat, had my first experience of Glamping and got covered in paint at Munich’s Holi Festival. In just five days we’ve driven through France, Belgium and Munich.  Malibu have turned me into a Nomad!

Keep up to date with the rest of my summer adventure by subscribing to www.youtube.com/MalibuRum and I’ll have updates on my website, YouTube channel, Twitter and Instagram too. Next stop, Prague.

Lovebox, secrets and bras…

aj2-z

Boohoo.com took me to Lovebox music festival at the weekend. Amazing! I remember giddy and frenzied conversations, trees dressed as ballerinas, being forced to walk past A$AP Rocky to groove to Duke Dumont, screaming all the words to Chase & Status and waking up voiceless.

aj4-z

Losing all your friends when your phone’s died, having someone vomit right next to your feet and dropping your entire round of drinks are just some of the things that we all must go through at these sort of occasions. My time was clearly eventful even without the music, but obviously I soaked up the tunes too. Jess Glynne was incredible, Nas was tip top and M.I.A was just urgh; too good! Two back to back days of positive vibes, sweet music and great/inappropriate outfits. To see my summer dress/winter boots attire check out the fashion page on my website.

aj3-z

Now I’m the big kid who giggles at the word “boobs” so when I was invited to Nike’s pro bra launch, I knew I was in for a treat.

aj1-z

The newest crew member is dubbed as their “highest support bra yet”, so confident with their bold claim, that Nike put our jug holders to the test by making us do a gruelling, high intensity workout with Barry’s Bootcamp (cheers guys). I was jumping, bouncing, lunging, SWEATING for a good hour and I must say there wasn’t a jiggly chest in sight! Try the bra and if you dare, try the Bootcamp.

In other news, I have some very exciting news that I’m not allowed to tell you just yet. *Arrrgghh* I hate secrets too but keep up to date on my Twitter and YouTube channel so that you don’t miss a thing.

Until next week, Cheerio!

I’m gutted the World Cup’s over for another four years

aj1
Turns out that there is such a thing as “National Pina Colada day”. I found out last week when I attended the Malibu rum party at club Disco in London to celebrate the occasion. The weather wasn’t as tropical as the drinks served in coconuts but I got to hang out with the lovely Ashley James and model Kara Marshall whilst listening to Capital FM’s Kat Shoob and former Pussy Cat Doll Kimberly Wyatt on the decks playing non-stop pop. It certainly felt like the start of summer, which is a good job as I wore super short shorts.

aj2

Four weeks ago I never thought that I’d get remotely attached to the World Cup but it seems that I did. It was so dramatic, really exhilarating and surprisingly I learnt so much. That football makes grown men cry  for example, the off side rule and that there’s some seriously ropey hair styles in the world. Palacio’s being one of them. I mean it’s no wonder I’ve already got post World Cup blues. I’m gutted it’s over for four more years but at least we can all get our lives back. Here’s to normal bedtimes and zero eye bags.

aj3

In other news, I’ll be behind the wheels of steel DJing on my Hoxton Radio show this Wednesday from 1-3pm. Tune in for a fun jamming session, good vibes and my jibber jabber.

See you there.

The World Cup has taken over my life

aj1

I’m not going to pretend I know that much about football because really I don’t but this last week the World Cup has taken over my life. I’ve been staying up way past my bedtime, latching on to support other teams (now that England and Nigeria have been knocked out), buying vintage football shirts on eBay and I’ve even been shouting at the telly (a taxing chore of the vocal cords I never thought I’d do). Yep. It’s become my unhealthy obsession. To the point where I’ve been cancelling all plans to watch it. No Wireless festival for me; I watched the footy. And when that wasn’t on, it was all balls and rackets with Wimbledon.

aj2
One date that I didn’t cancel however was with cosmetics brand Urban Decay who kindly invited me round to their HQ to take a goosey gander at their array of new products launching August 4th. Snazzy eyeliners, fancy lipsticks and mascaras that have honey in it! Oh. Yes.
I also held down the fort on my Hoxton Radio show, sharing sweet tales of galavanting around London whilst playing mega tunes. If you’re missing my radio shows for some bizarre reason, fear not, you can always listen back right here - http://www.hoxtonradio.com/category/aj-odudu and I even upload my playlist onto the music page on my website. Check it out here:

I feel like Victoria Pendleton is becoming my personal trainer

aj1

To encourage commuters to run home, me and my friend Ashley James did a 6 mile run led by World and Olympic champion Victoria Pendleton to kick start Fitness First home run initiative. I’ve done a spin class led by Pendleton before so now that we’ve ran together too, I feel like she’s somewhat becoming my personal trainer. Having just cycled 71 miles the day before, the initial topic of my conversation with Victoria related to bums, namely mine, which was terribly sore. I asked how on earth she did it? As a professional cyclist surely her backside must be hurting all the time?!  The secret is cycle more, and your derrière gets used to it. Simple. Cheeky chat over, we limbered up ready for our 6 mile run and were on our way.

aj2

We took in all the sights, through the busy streets of Camden, past the Arsenal Football stadium all the while chatting, panting, sweating… When we crossed the finish line I took some sweaty pictures before heading home in what I’m referring to as my “post race gift”, a taxi.

aj3

Musicals aren’t really my thing but when I got invited to see  the musical production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels starring Rufus Hound and Robert Lindsey, I couldn’t resist. I went along with comedian Joe Lycett and what I was initially dreading turned out to be a really fun show. It was fantastically camp, hilarious throughout and Rufus Hound sings in it… Like, really well! Who knew?!

In other news, I popped along to the London Gay Pride parade on Saturday and participated with campaigners, students, health organisers, friends in what was a very special day. There were dance and street artists performing, really impressive floats and I met a man who had the most amazing head piece on. I need it!

Festifeel-ing it and a bike ride like the movies

So last week included fun, music and boobs as I headed to Festifeel, a festival organised by breast cancer awareness charity, Coppafeel. It was curated by Fearne Cotton so naturally there was a cracking line up of acts including Zane Lowe, Swim Deep, Rizzle Kicks and so many more. I even managed to cup Lianne La Havas’s jugs so yes…be jealous.

From boobs to bikes I finally embarked on my 71-mile bike ride with my friend James Hill, in order to raise money for Action Medical Research. Weeks of preparation obviously paid off as neither I nor James broke a sweat! OK that’s a lie but the Chiltern Hills in Oxfordshire were so beautiful that at times, I thought I was on the set of a rom/com movie!

Festifeel

Festifeel

The hill climbs were tough, and being in the countryside did prompt a few major hay fever episodes but knowing that we were doing it for such a great cause was motivation enough.

At the end of the 8.5 hour cycle I was left with a medal, a huge pat on the back, nostrils filled with pollen and one very sore bottom, not to mention all of your donations. Thanks for everyone’s support so far.

In other news, my Hoxton Radio show is in full swing so tune and listen live every Wednesday 1-3pm.

Tarrah for now.
