Tennis with Greg Rusedski and DJing for LCM

aj1

What a week! One minute I’m at The Isle of Wight festival dancing to Blur, moshing to The Prodigy, missing Fleetwood Mac and presenting for Malibu Rum, the next minute I’m DJing from the exclusive Hospital Club in London for LCM, playing table tennis with Greg Rusedski at the Aegon Championships, making smoothies with Michelin-starred chef Kevin Love and running with 10,000 women for the Nike race series. Now that I’ve had a moment to catch my breath, let’s have a chat!

aj5

First stop, the Isle of Wight Festival where I was filming a fun, festival guide for Malibu Rum. Bringing glamour to a soggy field is a big ask, but there was definitely an attempt on my part. Kimonos, playsuits, feather headbands, the lot! Check out my festival fashion guide on ajodudu.com.

aj2

I finished filming in time to enjoy The Black Keys, The Prodigy, Groove Armada, Pharrell Williams and Blur before having to miss Fleetwood Mac’s performance to be back in London for an exclusive DJ set.

aj6

Yep, I DJed to a room full of dapper men during LCM before broadcasting my Hoxton Radio chart show live from the Grooming Room. You can listen back to my non-stop hits and interview with award winning fashion writer Jai’me of BoyMeetsFashion.com on my website.

aj4

Now, never in my wildest dreams would I ever imagine myself playing table tennis in front of a crowd at Queen’s Club in London, yet there I was, volleying with former world number 4 tennis star, Greg Rusedski. What a pleasant surprise!

aj3

The fact that I won our table tennis match was certainly a “pinch me” moment. I like to think it was pure talent and determination that crowned me victorious during the match but in fact, it was more likely to be the wonky sunglasses sat on top of my head that distracted poor Rusedski. That said, a win’s a win. Yippee!

aj6

Then I was on for another sporting victory, this time in a team of 10,000 strong women at Victoria Park, London where Nike hosted a run as part of their summer race series. At the finish line, we stopped to give one another celebratory hugs and were greeted by a glass of champagne, a Birch Box pamper kit and a medal in the form of an Alex Monroe necklace. Had I have known all of these treats were waiting for me at the finish line, I’d have certainly run faster.

See you next week!

Interviewing Judy Murray and how to get fit for summer

aj1

This week I attended an exclusive HEAD coaching masterclass at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre. The event was hosted by Great Britain’s Fed Cup team captain and mother to former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray, Judy Murray. It was my first ever time playing tennis, an achievement worth celebrating!

aj4

Yep. You read correctly. Up until last week I’d never played tennis before. I’m a massive spectator usually but on this occasion, I had all the tennis gear with no idea – which wasn’t a problem it turned out. Why? Because Judy Murray was hosting the class alongside Living Tennis Academy, a specialist tennis coaching institution who manage and provide a range of tennis coaching. Sorted!

aj2

In addition to ball control and coordination, I learnt that I’m more competitive than I thought, that I’ve completely forgotten how to catch and that Judy Murray (despite being highly entertaining on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing) is no longer dancing. What a shame. At least she’s still being brilliant in the world of tennis.

aj3

We chatted at length about her motivations, goals to inspire a younger generation of tennis players and have more women in sport, but also about her taste in music which her children don’t approve of.

Read the full interview with Judy Murray on my website www.ajodudu.com.

aj5

Also this week I wore a splash of colour. I took part in the London Colour Run and I must say, never have I been so happy to be pelted in the face with a heap of paint. Super fun whilst keeping fit, what more can you ask for? More colourful pictures can be seen on my website.

If you’re feeling inspired and looking to keep fit. Check out my latest YouTube workouts. Want to tighten those abs, tone your arms and get in shape for summer? Well follow these 6 simple core exercises to get you on track – follow the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrDCeUfVDXY&feature=youtu.be.

aj6

This week I’m shooting two top secret campaigns which I can’t wait to share with you next time! All I can say is… Pucker up!

Join me here next week when I’ll be sharing all the exclusive back stage gossip from the Isle of Wight Festival.

Till then, tarrah!

Interviewing Nick Jonas for ITV2

aj1
This week I returned to Mondrain London to present ITV2’s music entertainment show The Hot Desk. Previously for the show, I’ve interviewed chart-topping, Grammy award winning Meghan Trainor and former X Factor starlet and Brit Award-nominated Ella Henderson. This week it was the turn of American actor and singer Nick Jonas.
One third of pop band The Jonas Brothers, Nick’s now a solo artist and is back with a brand new album and already has his single Jealous in the official UK top 10 charts. I went to chat to him all about that and much more.
aj2
Gushing about the overwhelming support he’s had for his single Jealous from fans and mega star Rihanna, sharing his disappointment in no longer being able to tour with Iggy Azalea this spring and chatting about his love for Stevie Wonder, Nick Jonas was ever so charming.
I challenged him to flex his stuff and even had an arm wrestle with him. You can find out who won that arm wrestle and much more on ITV2 in June. Keep an eye on my YouTube channel (AJOdudu) for some exclusive behind the scenes footage.
aj3
Needless to say I definitely played Nick’s music on my Hoxton Radio chart show on Monday. From 2 to 4pm I shared my quick and easy fit tips, three 90s hits which are so NOW, counted down the top 10 singles chart and of course, shared even more gossip from my shoot with Nick Jonas.
In other news I’m excited to announce that I’ve partnered with the wonderful charity Cancer Research for their Race for Life series, where I’ll be taking part in their Pretty Muddy run, this 13 June.
aj4
Over this 5K trail, I’m envisioning a muddy obstacle course where women of any ability can run, walk, climb or crawl to the finish line, all the while dressed in Race for Life’s signature colour pink, making it the prettiest event ever! Better still, it’s for a fantastic cause, Cancer Research.
Over on my website ajodudu.com I’ll be sharing my entire training programme from start to finish, showing you my step by step guide of my nutrition and food regime too. This will certainly keep me on track but hopefully, inspire you to join me too.
If you’re already up for the challenge, join me on 13 June in London for Pretty Muddy. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy then there’s a whole host of activities taking place across the country, including UK’s first ever female only marathon.
I have a reader discount code which can be applied to any of the 300 Race for Life events taking place this  year so get involved.
Sign up here: http://bit.ly/1Egv9li
Reader discount code: RFLAJ
I’d love to know how you’re getting on by tweeting me, Instagramning your progress pictures or joining me on Snapchat and of course donating to Cancer Research: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ajodudu
Until next time, enjoy the sunshine!

Goofing around behind the scenes with Nike

aj1
Oh what a wonderful Easter. I’m writing this as I travel back from Lancashire to London, having spent a fantastic weekend with my enormous family and eaten my weight in chocolate. I succumbed to the allure of at least ten Easter eggs – I’m only human! I ate far more than I wish to admit so it’s a good job that my photoshoot with Nike was just before the bank holiday.
aj2
Yep, I spent Thursday behaving like an AJ-shaped poser as I flexed my muscles for an exclusive Nike Running campaign in East London. I had such a laugh modelling their new summer running range and apart from fooling around, flicking my hair and striking every pose in the book, there were other perks too! I got to hang out with a team of strong, inspiring women all day, work with photographers I’ve wanted to work with for yonks and wear some of the best active wear, most of which has not even hit the shops yet. Naturally, for a fitness shoot it was all, “Lights, camera annnd run” which is right up my street. I’m excited to see the final images. Here’s a sneak peak from behind the scenes.
aj4
Keeping it fit, I was lucky enough to host two very special guests on my Hoxton Radio chart show. Faya Nilson, founder and writer of UK’s award-winning fitness blog, Fitnessontoast.com and one of London’s leading nutritionists, Dr Michelle Storfer. We chatted all about their brand new e-book The Four Week Fitness & Food Effect which is a comprehensive 28-day diet and exercise plan. Their four-week programme can be done in the comfort of your own home and is fun, varied and challenging too. Suitable for beginners or the experienced, I have to say it’s come just in time to work off the chocolate before it settles on my midrift.
aj3
You can download The Four Week Fitness & Food Effect e-book directly from Fitnessontoast.com and listen back to my Hoxton Radio show featuring those two lovelies at hoxtonradio.com.
Until next time, tarrah.

Presenting at Tommy’s Awards with Sam Bailey

aj1
This week I took to the stage at London’s Landmark Hotel to present at The Tommy’s Baby Awards. Tommy’s is a charity that supports families with pregnancy complications and so I knew it was going to be an emotional day.
aj2
Whilst the awards ceremony was hugely moving, it was incredibly uplifting too because thanks to Tommy’s research, the future looks more positive and that was definitely recognised in the room. First, I bumped into a real life Percy Pig, and then I met Katy Hill who I used to watch on Blue Peter when I was a little girl myself (star struck). Before long I was giggling with X Factor champion Sam Bailey, ahead of handing out personal awards, the stories behind which were truly amazing.
aj3
After a fantastic awards ceremony, it was on to Nike HQ to get geeky about workout trainers. I learnt about the latest technology used to update last year’s Nike Free models which make for a better and more comfortable run. I designed my own pair of Nike ID’s (an extra special pair of kicks) before road testing the new Nike Flyknit Free 5.0 in an exclusive workout session at the Grace Belgravia Hotel in London. Excited to be amongst the first very in the world to wear these trainers, I lunged, planked, squatted and moved freely in the brand new kicks before a healthy breakfast of smoked salmon and green juice. You can’t get your hands on these trainers until the summer but I assure you, it’s worth the wait.
aj4
As always you can catch me on London’s Hoxton Radio station every Monday 2-4pm for all my latest gossip, fit tips and the UK chart show countdown. Yesterday I reminisced about exercising with the pop princess not afraid of a few squat jumps, Ellie Goulding. I played a whole host of motivating Monday pop tunes and gushed about how in love I am with Kendrick Lamar’s new album, To Pimp A Butterfly (seriously, you’ve got to check it out). You can listen back to my show online at Hoxtonradio.com/ajodudu and if you didn’t catch me on ITV2 music entertainment show The Hot Desk over the weekend then you can watch back on the ITV player website. Chatting to me behind the famous desk was chart-topping, former X Factor contestant, Ella Henderson. She’s a delight!
Until next time, cheerio for now.

Interviewing Ella Henderson and my Emoji workout

aj1
This week I headed to The Hospital Club in London to interview former X Factor starlet, two-time BRIT award nominee, superstar in the making Ella Henderson for ITV2 entertainment show The Hot Desk. The chart-topping princess revealed all about her very own Mirror Man, debuted her acting skills and even reminisced about the time Whoopi Goldberg gave Ella her shoes (I know. Amazing right?!)
aj2
She gushed about her pride at being nominated for not one but two BRIT awards this year and shared her excitement at joining Take That on their UK tour later this year. The girl’s on fire!  You can watch my full interview with her on ITV2 this Saturday at 1:20pm.
aj-leopard
If you’ve ever wondered who your best workout buddy should be then look no further. I teamed up with Juicy Couture and Trace Publicity to host my very own Emoji workout class today.
aj3
Yep, that’s right, Pineapple Dance studios saw me lead a fitness class with a twist that involved selfie sticks and giant emojis. After all, be it on Facebook, Instagram… Tinder, we’re all on camera these days so why not spruce up your selfies and get fit all at the same time?
aj4
We LOL’ed as we mastered the Laugh Out Lunges, incorporated some Selfie Stretches and even did some Kim Kardashian butt squats. We didn’t break the internet but we did break a sweat. I always knew the poo emoji would make a great workout companion. Keep your eyes peeled for more fun fitness classes avec moi in London later this spring.
aj5
I’ll be taking my selfie stick to London’s Hoxton Radio today, which you can listen to live online from 2 to 4pm today and every single Monday. As always I’ll be playing pop, including the UK top 10 chart countdown, I’ll be sharing my fit tip of the day and revealing who I’ve been stalking on Instagram. Arrh welcome to my world. Until next time, tarah!

Working out with Ellie Goulding

aj1
This week I attended the exclusive launch of Ellie Goulding’s brand new Nike+ Training Club app at London’s Tobacco Dock. The evening commenced with Ellie Goulding serenading us to five of her hot singles including her recent UK chart topper, Love Me Like You Do. In between tracks she spoke to us of her shyness, her love for Bjork and confessed that she always forgets the words to her own songs (as she revealed her book of lyrics). She didn’t tell us however, that she was going to do a costume change from pop star glam to Lycra gym wear (to be fair she still looked glam) to lead us in a 40 minute full body workout. We soon found out.
aj2
Yes you heard me, just when I was getting comfortable she whipped us into shape by leading a sweat-inducing workout which really did leave me feeling starry eyed. It was sort of surreal working out with a pop star, especially as she’d just sang to us. I mean talk about a sweaty serenade. I can vouch for the fact that Ellie Goulding is one pop princess who isn’t afraid of a few burpees but the fact that I was working out with a bunch of strong, focused women right ahead of International Women’s Day made those squat jumps extra special. Here are us ladies showing our strength in side planks.
aj3
From one pop star to the next I will be interviewing former X Factor starlet, Brit Award-nominated Ella Henderson for ITV2’s The Hot Desk tomorrow so be sure to check back here next week for all the gossip and as always be sure to check out my YouTube channel for the latest in fitness, fashion, short workouts and diet tips.
aj4
Tune into London’s Hoxton Radio today, which you can listen to live online from 2-4pm every single Monday. Today I’ll be playing pop, including the UK top 10 chart countdown, I’ll be sharing my fit tip of the day and revealing who I’ve been stalking on Instagram. Naturally. Until next time, tarah!

My London Fashion Week

aj1

There’s a number of reasons not to like London Fashion like err, being papped because you’re sat behind a celebrity; heavy goody bags filled with more coconut water than you can physically drink (#firstworldproblems!) and the overwhelming urge to wear a mini skirt in February not to mention the fact that no one has a clue what the gold star means on their ticket (sometimes it means you bypass the queue, sometimes you have to wait in line and get a slapped wrist for even asking). Really?! Yes.

This was my 3rd year visiting LFW and this year I’ve wised up. Big time. I leave the goody bags alone, there’s a flat pair of shoes in my handbag, I’m sporting a jumpsuit and I know exactly what’s going on with the guest list. BOOM! Needless to say I had a lot of fun at LFW 2015. Here’s my lowdown from the week:

aj2

I got ready in style

Brand new luxury beauty app, PRIV kindly provided me with professional hair and makeup artists to spruce me up in the comfort of my own home. Amazing. Then I started my day with a positive TV meeting over a breakfast of poached eggs on toast. Yum. Then, it was show time. FROWing at the Gyunel show (where British pop princess Ella Eyre did a pre-show music performance which was sensational), at the PPQ show (where my friend Ashley James was strutting her stuff down the catwalk) and then my personal favourite, Jean-Pierre Braganza show at Somerset House (where a strange man catwalk-bombed to take a cheeky selfie with the models).

Gwen Stefani’s sloppy seconds

Jean-Pierre Braganza kindly dressed me for his show in a jumpsuit that (for now at least) is the only one in the world. Lucky me. I’m so glad that onsies are fashionable, even if it does force you to strip every time you nip to the loo. Apparently, the jumpsuit I wore was made with Gwen Stefani in mind and I’ll take her hand-me-downs any day of the week. As you can see I teamed it with a fresh pair of studded heels from Schuh, a Marni jacket and a Prada handbag (containing the flat pair of shoes I never actually wore).

aj3

Daisy Lowe, Erin O’Connor, Nicholas Hoult were all Hungry!

After a quick outfit change it was time to head to the W Hotel for the Hunger magazine party. Erin O’Connor, Daisy Lowe and Nicholas Hoult were among a few of the hot attendees there to celebrate Hunger‘s ‘We’ve Got Issues’ launch not to mention my squad of beauties pictured above. After dancing to MNEK’s DJ set and sipping on cocktails I was left feeling a little delicate but it was soon time to do it all over again the very next day and then… Sunday. I’m shattered.

The first rule of Fight Club is… wear orange!

Dressed in orange, I headed to the ME Hotel to watch the fashion show of sports luxe brand Charli Cohen. This show was simply great. A Fight Club-themed collection showcasing racer back crop tops, panelled tees, leggings and the best silver coat I’ve ever seen! Plus there was healthy pre-show snacks and drinks. Very fitting for what was a very energetic show fusing fashion and fitness together perfectly. Head over to my website ajodudu.com for more about my LFW shenanigans and outfit details.

aj4

Stay up to date with me @AJOdudu on Twitter and Instagram, not to mention my YouTube channel youtube.com/ajodudu and weekly Hoxton Radio Show. Go on… cyberstalk me. I insist.

Until next time, tarrah!

Photo booth fun with Lilah Parsons and Charlotte De Carle

aj2
Jamie Winston, Mille Mackintosh and Zoe Hardman were just a few of the super hot girls sipping on Cointreau cocktails and causing trouble at the Spring/Summer Yumi collection launch party at the Ice Tank, London. I love nights like these, plenty of great company, delicious nibbles and drinks and you often get chatting to someone completely unexpected. One particular fella I wasn’t expecting to see there was the bloomin’ world famous, contemporary artist Damien Hirst! We got chatting over nibbles (as you do at these soirées) and found common ground immediately being fellow Northerners, he mentioned that he liked my dulcet tones and stripey trousers. Cheers mate!
I then got chatting to uber cool chick, Billy JD Porter before her DJ set, I loved her RnB playlist and I had photo fun with models Charlotte De Carle and Lilah Parsons.
aj1
Now after all that partying, like me, if you’re after a quick fitness pick me up then why not try this high protein, skin improving, metabolism boosting Spirulina Smoothie. It’s high iron and super green colour is just the bright, burst of energy you need on a Monday to kick start your week in the best way and the recipe and demo is over on my YouTube channel now.
aj3
And I know it’s Monday, it’s February, it’s freezing cold but let’s have some fun on my Hoxton Radio today from 2-4pm. It’s going to be a feel good, poptastic extravaganza!
Until next week here though, tarrah for now.

Partying with Naomi Campbell

aj1
Last night I celebrated the 10th Anniversay of the EE Rising Star Award with InStyle magazine at the Ace Hotel in London. Naomi Campbell, Sheridan Smith, Jamie Winston, Ella Ere and Emily Ratajkowski were just a few of the seriously hot guests there to join in the party. We sipped on cocktails, nibbled on canapés and made fools out of ourselves in their photo-booths – just me? I wore a cocktail dress from SpottedOnCeleb which was a good job when hanging out with mega babes Lilah Parsons, Amber Le Bon and model Billy Huxley. Blimey what a crowd of lovelies!
aj2
Last night’s occasion was far more glamorous than my previous days spent in lycra as I took to the streets of London to conquer the cold in aid of Cancer Research. Yes, I, along with 15,000 others, took part in a 10K run that took us past some of London’s most iconic landmarks including the London Eye, The Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster. I knew I wanted to capture as much of the amazing atmosphere as possible, taking in all aspects of the winter themed routes with areas being dubbed as ‘snow zones’, ‘ice caves’ and even polar bear hugs at the finish line and so of course I took my selfie stick and filmed the whole thing on my GoPro. I looked like Inspector Gadget as I weaved in and out of people with my extended arm. Running with thousands of people all heading for the same destination, raising money for the same cause was exceptionally touching not to mention good fun. Plus, I got to cross the line with my selfie stick. Sadly, the race organisers don’t give medals to selfie sticks but if they did, it would have been GoPro gold.
aj3
I interviewed chart topping, Grammy Award nominated, All About That Bass singer, Meghan Trainor for ITV2 show The Hot Desk and it was televised over the weekend so if you missed it, fear not as you can watch it back right here: https://www.itv.com/itvplayer/the-hot-desk/series-7/episode-12-megan-trainor.
Also, check out my YouTube channel for all things fitness. This week, I’m showing pre and post workout healthy eats so come dine with me!
Until next week, cheerio!
