Party with Ollie Locke Came With a Whistle and a Bang

aj1
London based jewellery brand, Whistle & Bango showcased postcode bangles at their unmissable launch party last week held at Wolf & Badger, Notting Hill and I DJ’ed at it. The party served up Itsu’s signature sushi, a variety of cocktails and of course, beautifully charming postcode bangles.
aj2
Whistle & Bango founder Ashley James invited a whole host of lovely guests including MIC‘s Ollie Locke, Towie‘s Fearne McCann, Lilah Parsons and many more. Presenters Matt Richardson, Zoe Hardman and my good self hit the decks, providing a varied mix of house, dance and straight up pop. The music I played was a steady stream of lush, featuring Jessie Ware, some extended mixed Destiny’s Child plus a Chemical Brothers remix of Kylie Minougue and Lorde. I also spun tunes by Mr. Probz, Wale and Joe Goddard. For more of my playlist, visit the music page on my website.

But if you want to hear records with chat, then I’ll be back on Hoxton Radio this Wednesday from 10-12. Thespians, philanthropists, the daring and the brave; all are welcome to tune in. In fact I insist! Last week I shared tales of my exciting gym equipment in Witness the Fitness, revealed all things hot and not in the trendy streets of East London, in my dubiously yet intriguingly named East or Yeast and played an array of pumped up tunes, from the latest releases to my old school favourites from Ja Rule and Brandy. Listen back to that show at your leisure and be sure to tune in on Wednesday.

I’ve launch parties and a spooky soiree to look forward to this Halloween. Last year was all about axe-headed nurses but I’ll catch you here next week to tell you all about sipping sinful champagne and staggering around in a zombie like fashion. Yep; that’s the aim.
Until then, tarrah!

My week in pictures

IMG_3541new

This week I filmed a little something something with Brian Dowling. Unfortunately that’s all I can say but it was a lot of fun. My goodness he tickled my funny bone.

Then it was off to present my normal Hoxton Radio show slot (Wed 10am-12) where I broke the tragic news that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have broken up. I was swiftly informed that that had in fact occurred months ago. Nevertheless, to help deal with this heartbreaking event, I played a bizarre mix of music. It took me the whole show to get over it with tunes from Kylie Minogue, Clean Banditt, Major Lazer and many more. You can listen back at your leisure and tune in for a chipper show this Wednesday.

Later in the week, I attended the launch of new trainers, Nike Zoom Agility. They make me look like I work out with highlighter pens on my feet, the glow of which personally, I enjoy. I got to mingle with my favourite fitness fashionistas and bloggers, as well as do one of my favourite/painful workout sessions with Barry’s Bootcamp, working up a serious sweat. You can read more about that on the fitness page on my website.

In other news, I can’t wait to spin some records and check out postcode bling at the Whistle&Bango jewellery launch party this week. Yep, I’ll be behind the wheels of plastic DJing at the event so see you on the dance floor.

Until next week, tarrah for now.

Meeting Elizabeth Hurley and Emma Thompson at Kensington Palace

aj1

I went to Kensington Palace to celebrate the launch of Estee Lauder’s We’re Stronger Together campaign this week. Heart warming and inspiring stories were shared from those affected by breast cancer – survivors, sufferers and family and friends alike. It was a glitzy way to kick off such a noteworthy event in our calendars; Breast Cancer Awareness month. To raise awareness the event was hosted by Liz Hurley and attended by big names, including Emma Thompson, an advocate of the campaign and an absolute hoot.

aj2
I ran my socks off yesterday at London’s Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon. I ran for Tommy’s Charity, which supports families with pregnancy complications and 1 hour 37 minutes of me pretending to be Forrest Gump left me feeling exhausted but really happy. I was so proud of myself and the 16,000 people who took part for great causes. The crowd support was overwhelmingly brilliant too.
aj3
My highlights include;
- running past Ellie Goulding, Jo Whiley, Katie Piper, Buckingham Palace and the Big Ben. All beauties;
- the VIP tent buffet where there was a mountain of cheese and crackers, chocolate brownies and an endless supply of tea and coffee;
- and finally the finish line porta loos. I thought I was going to do a Paula Radcliffe at several (awful) points so at the finish line I dived right in there. I’ve never been so happy to see a bog! Too much information?! Too late.

Until next week, tarrah!

I just can’t get Kylie Minogue out of my head

aj2
La la la, la-la-la-la-la I just can’t get Kylie Minogue out of my head after seeing her at the O2 during her current Kiss Me Once tour. The pint sized pop princess is looking hotter than ever and performing better than any devil you know.
aj1
Step Back in Time, Spinning Around, A Night Like This, Locamotion; she sang all her golden oldies. She had loads of dancers, lazers, Hattie Stewart illustrations, a feather bath, hunky men, sequins, PVC, Lycra, frills, tassels, glitter; it was all going on. Robbie Williams didn’t make an appearance to perform Kidz but Kylie was enough for me. Arh I’m so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky.
aj4
I’ve been listening to Kylie whilst training to run my half marathon actually. Yep, it’s just six days until my Royal Parks Run and never ever will I ever leave it until 14 days before to start training. Lesson learnt. My shoulders are aching, my legs are tired. Even my Nike app is telling me I’m running too slow. The struggle is real. Nevertheless I’m excited to be running for Tommy’s, a great charity and I know there’ll be cake waiting for me at the finish line. Win win.
aj3
I’m back on Hoxton Radio with James Hill every Wednesday morning 10-12 after my 8 week radio hiatus. During my show you can expect a serving of pop, indie, RnB, hip-hop in addition to our weekly musings. So be sure to tune in this Wednesday for more chit-chat and music. It’ll be fun for your ears.
Until next week, tarrah!
