The Face Edit With Estee Lauder, Kiehl’s and Jurlique

In this hot weather, I’m keeping makeup to a minimum.

Kiehl’s Deep Moisture Clarifying Crème – £41
As the sun can make skin discolouration and hyperpigmentation worse, I’ve been wearing Kiehl’s Deep Moisture Clarifying Crème. The latest addition to Kiehl’s skin-clarifying product range, this cream helps improve the appearance of dark spots and discolorations. It contains white birch and peony extract to hydrate and help provide long-term radiance. It was formulated with Asian skins in mind but I think it works just as well on brown skins. Wear daily to help improve skin clarity.

Estee Lauder Pure Colour Cheek Rush – £24
These cute pots of cheek stain are a great way to add a subtle hint of colour to the face. They give you a lightweight, natural, fresh finish and in this weather, won’t sit on your face and melt into your lap. Creative Makeup Director for Estée Lauder, Tom Pecheux said: “This season, I’ve been working a lot with what I call “aqua colour”.
It’s a gentle, watery look with just a touch of bright, vibrant colour.” I tried the Cheek Rush in Turbo Jam and loved the watery gel finish and the way it complimented my skin tone. Estee Lauder advises quickly blending a tiny drop of this silky liquid-gel in a circular motion on to the apples of cheeks for a ‘just pinched’ look. Worked for me!

Jurlique Deluxe Edition Rosewater Balancing Mist – £41
In hot weather, facial mists were a must and my favourite was the Jurlique Deluxe Edition Rosewater Balancing Mist. Exclusive to M&S Your Beauty stores this lightweight mist provides a wonderfully refreshing shot of precious Rose flower extracts and plant botanicals to help hydrate the skin. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this product go to the Jurlique Ideas of Beauty Fund which supports beautiful ideas that empower and educate women globally. I spritz myself before bed, before applying make up; I even lug it around to my bag to stay fresh when I’m out and about. It may not be hot anymore but central heating is not our skin’s friend.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Sometimes a product comes along and you wonder how you got along without it. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate is one of those products.

The product launched nearly three years ago, on average a bottle of it is sold every minute and so far, over one million have been sold worldwide. It has won 21 awards in a variety of countries and celebrity fans include Bar Rafaeli, Sarah Jessica Parker and Uma Thurman. It took the Kiehl’s chemists 20 versions to settle on a formula they were pleased with and results can be seen after just one use. Yes, one use; it’s not called Midnight Miracle for nothing.

I told a few friends I was trying it out and everyone who had heard of or used it said how amazing it was.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate contains a blend of botanical extracts and essential oils and after applying three drops instead of my usual night cream, I woke up to brighter and more radiant skin. My skin felt softer, my pores smaller and my face just looked all around better. I don’t know how Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate does it, but it really does ‘do’ it.

In trials, users found that a four week nightly use meant:

Fine lines reduced by 37%
Wrinkles reduced by 31%
Feel of roughness reduced by 28%
Firmness/resilience reduced by 25%

It doesn’t matter what skin type you are, this lightweight overnight concentrate will work on everyone. If you have normal to combination skin, apply 2-4 drops in place of your usual night cream. If you have dry skin, you might want to apply a light night cream on top of the concentrate.

I’m hiding my bottle from my husband and this is one product I do not want to share!

Kiehl’s Sunflower Color Preserving Deep Recovery Pak‏

For hair that smalls of apricot, flowers and sunshine, try Kiehl’s Sunflower Colour Preserving Deep Recovery Pak‏.

Now my hair is coloured I have to pay extra special attention and care to treating it well. As my hair isn’t relaxed, my struggle isn’t too hard but I’m always on the lookout for conditioning treatments that can nourish my hair as well as preserve my colour.

Kiehl’s Sunflower Colour Preserving Deep Recovery Pak is a paraben and silicone-free conditioning treatment for coloured hair. It works particularly well in repairing chemically processed hair so would work well for those whose tresses are relaxed.

Key ingredients include:

Sunflower Seed Oil which helps to nurture and condition dry or damaged hair, Apricot Kernel Oil, an ingredient known for its soothing and moisturizing properties and Vitamins B3, 5 and 6 to provide condition and shine while protecting hair fibers from oxidative damage.

For the best results use it every time you wash your hair which in my case is once a week. After shampooing, apply a generous amount all over your hair, concentrating on the areas that need TLC. In my case that’s the ombré ends. Leave on for as long as you wish (I left it on all day) and then rinse out for silky soft and nourished hair. It’s important you rinse properly as any leftover treatment will make your hair sticky and hard to style.

I pretty much drenched my hair in the Kiehl’s Sunflower Color Preserving Deep Recovery Pak and I’d hardly made a dent in the tub so it should last ages. I love the smell and the condition if leaves my hair in. If your hair is coloured, and especially if it’s relaxed, this is a conditioning treatment you should try.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque

With the British weather continuing to persecute my skin, it was a pleasure to try out the new Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Hydrating Overnight Masque.

The masque contains Hyaluronic Acid, a substance that is naturally present in the human body which is able to hold more water than any other natural substance. Combined with ingredients that help replenish skin’s water reserves, just one night of wearing this left me with hydrated and fresh feeling skin in the morning.

The masque is thin and watery; not too dissimilar to egg whites. To use, apply a generous layer of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque on to your clean skin. Leave it on for ten minutes and wipe away any excess with a tissue. Don’t remove it all though; you want it to work its magic while you sleep.

Overnight, the intensive moisturizing treatment helps boost skin’s ability to retain water, which leaves your skin feeling hydrated and looking healthier. Fresh and dewy is usually associated with youth and while it won’t knock ten years off you, it does leave your skin looking and feeling bright

I find the masque quite rich so I recommend you only use it once a week unless your skin is feeling particularly parched when I’d use it twice max.

It has light scent and is gentle enough for even those with sensitive skins. A definite addition to my weekly skincare routine.
