The Rigby & Peller Experience

If you’re anything like me, buying lingerie usually involves a trip to M&S or John Lewis where you pick up the same size bra you’ve been wearing since you were a teenager.

Turns out that is not best practice as weight loss or gain, pregnancy and general ageing can affect the size and shape of your breasts over time. It’s only by having a trained professional get their hands (and eyes) on you that you know you are wearing the right size, shape and style of bra.

It has been approximated that up to 80% of us are wearing the wrong size bra. I was pretty sure I wasn’t part of that demographic and that the size I’d been wearing pre and post children was the correct one, so I thought my invitation to receive a fitting at Rigby & Peller would simply involve trying on lots of pretty bras.

More fool me. Without a tape measure in sight, the lovely Rowanna took a look at my bare chest (yes, you do have to get the girls out) and went away muttering something about cups and balconies. She returned with a selection of bras in a back size 2 down and a cup size 1 up from what I currently wear.

I scoffed at her selection but once they were on, I really could see and feel the difference. As clichéd as it sounds, wearing the right size bra really does make you feel better. I settled on the Rigby & Peller Alondra in dove grey; the colour looks amazing against a brown skin.

The Rigby & Peller experience is second to none – the staff make you feel extremely comfortable, ask questions about your lifestyle to determine the fit and style of bra best for you and know all there is to know about bras, basques, swimwear, shape wear and everything in between.

A Rigby & Peller bra is not cheap, prices start at £40 but considering you wear a bra more often than you don’t, a good and comfortable fit is certainly an investment worth making. Rigby & Peller hold a Royal Warrant which means they have regularly supplied goods or services to certain members of the Royal Family so you know your undergarments are in good company.

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Rigby & Peller are encouraging us to recycle and donate our old bras in aid of UK charity Breast Cancer Care. In return for each old bra donated for recycling in one of their stores, you will receive £10 off every new bra bought. You can also get 20% off selected pink ranges throughout October.

Hello HELLO!

Hello lovely readers of HELLO! and welcome to my new blog.

I’m very excited to be joining HELLO! as a Beauty & Lifestyle Blogger where I’ll be writing on fashion and beauty, with a particular focus on trends for brown skinned women.

My name is Mads and I love all things related to fashion and beauty. I was beyond excited when I was asked to write for a publication as prestigious as Hello! and even more excited that I was able to write about all things pertaining to beauty for darker skins.

I’ll be using this blog to write about new beauty products, cult products we should all own (and why), salons and lotions/potions that work on curly or afro hair as well as trying to get the inside scoop from models, celebrities and stylists on how they manage to stay looking so darn perfect.

I’d love for this blog to be a two way conversation so please let me know if there’s a topic you’d like me to cover or if you have a fashion or beauty question you’re dying to ask – don’t be shy! Comments are always (always) welcome.

Let’s get started!

xo Mads
